The Fork And Dagger Ale Haus

As an aspiring chef I appreciate great food. Truly good eats encompass flavor, texture and presentation. Phenomenal food also has a uniqueness about it, and I was not disappointed when I tried Fork and Dagger for the first time Saturday night. I rarely order steak at a restaurant because I’m always unhappy with restaurant steaks, but after reading the menu I decided I’d try the flat iron steak. It was plainly presented on a bed of white cheese mashed potatoes, with a mushroom sauce draped over the meat and a side of roasted asparagus. The steak came perfectly medium rare which is nearly impossible to get from a restaurant. Flat iron steak is flavorful but usually not the most tender cut, however this steak was extremely tender. The mashed were good, a bit too lumpy but good. The asparagus was good, had a bit of Parmesan and garlic on it and may have been prepared in bulk ahead of time, but had some crispness yet and wasn’t woody. My wife ordered the mushroom and duck bacon dressed burger and it also came exactly as ordered and she said it was very good. The accompanying honey chipotle fries were very tasty. I ordered a small salad which was so wonderful I still think of it. Arugula greens with roasted almond slices, green grapes, micro grains, kalamata and green olives and a light lemon vinaigrette that made it pop. Our waitress was Tara and she knew the food well and offered suggestions as we asked. I can’t wait to try more offerings at this restaurant. The chef and staff truly care about their food and customers.
