Ordered to go! They were fast about it. I had the dinner chopped pork with baked beans and collard greens. The baked beans were a little on the sweet side but still finished it :) everything was delicious!
You gotta try it!. I finally stopped in today after passing this place a million times. The smokers on the outside gave me hope, and when I tasted my chopped chicken, man, did they deliver! Smoky, juicy, tender, flavorful...I didn't even need the sauce, but the sweetness of it was perfect for my taste. This is the best BBQ chicken I have ever had. No more Rib City for me! I will be back for this meat. the portion was huge and the price was cheap. Really friendly service, too. Try it...you'll like it.

Finally St.Pete Has REAL BBQ Ribs. After seeing a negative review I was compelled to sign up to Urban Spoon and do this place justice. Days after it opened I could smell the smokers outside across 66th st when I was picking up my pizza from Pizza Hut. After hearing one of their managers raving about the ribs he had the night before I paid for my pizza and headed straight across the street. What I found were the type of ribs I've been waiting years to come to St Pete. Sadly it's usually only once a year at Ribfest where I'm satisfied. Now these guys have just been open 2 months and it's his first go at a restaurant. They are certainly working out the kinks. But those nuances don't matter, what does is the food. Because it is so close to my home I have eaten there no less than 20 times. The ribs are fall off the bone with that perfect searing on the outside. The sauce is amazing. Sweet with a tiny kick. It's after I tried their other dishes that I officially became hooked! I found out why they keep running out of sausage--it's the one item that gives the ribs a run for their money. The smoked chicken breast dinner is so damn juicy! I recommend the baked beans and collard greens for your sides. Both have the owners individual touches and are the furthest thing from a "Sam's Club" fixin'. If the portions of the sides seem small to you it's more than offset by the main course. I always leave stuffed. What is small is the prices! Sausage dinner-$7 Chicken dinner-$6 rib dinner $9. Oh and if you get the full rack ($21) you will get a take-out box bulging with the best you've had. We do Landscaping and eat out every day. After paying $8.88 for a McDonalds chicken sandwich meal I realized the obvious. For a buck less I could have eaten REAL food that is served every bit as quickly. I have turned many others onto Johnnie Mack's and love seeing week after week how much more the business keeps going up. The word is spreading. I look forward to watching them grow as their experience does. I hope my enthusiasm shows and that all of you give this place the shot it deserves! 5 stars on the country boy scale! ---Tony Balchen
I had the chicken dinner, it's Memphis style slow smoked. It was tasty and the collards were great as well!
