The three of us had all you can eat hot pot. I was skeptical coming here because of the reviews. It was the total opposite of what I expect because of the bad reviews. I will definitely be coming back here. The ingredients were fresh and service was quick! We did choose to have dinner here on a week night. Not sure how the weekend service is. We chose to have the spicy broth and the regular broth, both were great. We will definitely come back when it gets colder.

Service was great, they were very nice, quick and attentive. I ordered the number 3 (miso tonkatsu ramen), my husband got the number 2 (spicy tonkatsu ramen) and we shared an appetizer of the takoyaki. The food was put quick and super flavorful. We obviously didn't try the hot pot, but we were satisfied overall. The spicy tonkatsu wasn't spicy, but he enjoyed the taste of the broth and everything that the soup came with. The chargrilled pork was tender, juicy and delicious. Definitely would recommend and come back.

This was our first experience trying Hot Pot, and the wife and I can't wait to return. The staff here was informative and made great recommendations for what pot to get. For the appetizer we tried their garlic and onion pork. It was very savory with a lot of onion spice and garlic goodness. We also tried their fried golden buns. I expected another savory, but they were sweet and tastey fried dough buns covered in sweetened condensed milk. We tried the beef hot pot, which was very tastey. It had other things in it, like crab, sausage, and cabbage. The broth was not too spicy, but not bland at all. We also tried two different sauces we made, to dip the meats in, as well. Everything was delicious, amd we look forward to returning, with friends, to share a bigger pot.

Perfect for a cold day. Three of us shared a spicy hot pot. Four plates of meat, three of veggies and mushrooms, and one sweet bread thing was almost too much for us. My favorite is lotus roots. Medium was plenty spicy for my wimpy American taste buds. Will definitely go again.

I came in on a Saturday night, luckily right before the rush started. Staff itself was very friendly, attentive to details and made sure we were taken care of consistently.
The menu was explained clearly, then you were given an Expo(wipe off marker) mark want you want, make sure to order just enough, you can always order more
Meat portions were... less than expected but the quality made it's worth.
The self serve dipping sauce variety bar + unlimited shrimp chips was a bonus ~
ps.
If you're a spice crazed person like me.. this place won't fail you. Go extra spicy, that's if peppercorn is on your good side.
We had two types of broth, but ended up shoving it all on the spicy side.
If you can't take heat, please simmer down to medium. Very hot is a bit on the wild side <3

Solid Hot Pot Experience in Katy
My wife and I went to Squares for the first time because our other local hot pot restaurant had closed down. Intially, we were concerned due to some lackluster reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised.
The decor was heavily wooded themed, and the dragon-style hot pot bowls were a fun addition. The food was exactly what we wanted to satisfy our Hot Pot cravings and our waitress was incredibly helpful and patient.
The restaurant does have room to grow. At the start you have a choice between ordering the "all you can eat" or the "pay per item", we went for the latter and had our fill while saving some money, but it's bad form to put that sort of choice on your customers at the start of their meal. A simple change of "pay per item until you reach the all you can eat price" would be much more comforting as a customer and probably encourage the clientele to order more!
When we went it was relatively quiet, but I can see how a spike in business could lower the service quality, and some of the signage (especially at the build your own dipping sauce bar) clashed with the otherwise calming natural feel of the restaurant. (Although the suggested recipes for what type of sauce to make was much appreciated)
I do want to reiterate, however, that our server was patient and attentive, explaining the details of the menu, and making sure our drinks were properly filled.
The food came out quickly in easy, ready to cook format. It was all solid Hot pot fare. Though some have commented that the broth lacked flavor, I personally was very satisfied.
All in all Squares is a solid choice if you live in Katy and have that hot pot craving.

O.M.G. words cannot describe. Our waiter sat us down and described the process. When explaining the spiciness level, he noted this wasnt the American-ized Chinese food experience. And he wasnt wrong. Authentic, fresh, and utterly fantastic. Me and my friend both got the all you can eat option. Definitely well priced and definitely plenty of options. We asked our waiter for his favorites and he kindly obliged and made great recommendations. The fatty beef was delicious, the spinach and the egg noodles were all favorites. We split our pots between the nine spice spicy broth and the bone broth....both were exquisite. Full of flavor, fresh, authentic and with excellent service. Everybody, trust me, you need this food experience!

I wish I had remembered to take photos of the food, but we ate it so quickly!!!
The tomato base was okay, but the spicy really was the kicker! Likely we're going to try the mild bone broth next time and keep it simple.
Their beef was great, pork was good too! Came out quickly, and they helped with the sauces. Really loved their sesame sauce!
Don't forget your spinach and egg noodles!

When they say hot they mean hot. My husband can handle the heat and the medium had his head sweating. The food was flavorful. Be careful of the prices if you get the all you can eat it's going to get expensive fast. Pick and choose what you want instead. You're going to get a small plate of whatever you order. Our service was fast and friendly.

The food was good and came out fast. Service was good as well. Attentive and friendly. It's nice to be able to get your own sauce at the little buffet bar. They also have some sesame treat that was much needed when the hot pot got spicy. Not sure what my husband and I ate to irritate our stomachs since we've had the same type of hot pot at many other places.
