We were visiting from out of state and knew this place was highly rated so we decided to try it. We loved it so much we came back again on our last day before flying out. I had the Z Man and my wife had the Flying Pig the first night. It was SO good. The fries were also amazing. On the second visit, I tried the ribs and burnt ends. Also great, especially the ribs, but the Z Man was definitely my favorite. The staff was friendly too.
The first time, we went around 3pm and there was almost no line. The second time, we arrived around 7:30 and we had to wait around an hour. Worth it but plan ahead. They also had tables outside for social distancing.
Food was decent. Mac and cheese was fire!
The lady at the curbside pick up box has to ask for permission for us to park and wait for our food since we were early? That was a bit weird. Considering we drove from PA, not sure what the big deal was. Otherwise, would have had 5 stars if was more polite.
Incredible BBQ and sides! It’s the best pulled pork in Kanas City, and the dirty rice is my favorite side. They also do an awesome job with carryout and cold orders! When you follow the reheat instructions, it tastes like it is freshly made.
What can I say about this place that hasn't probably already been said. I thought it was pricey but after my meal I was fine with the price. The creamy slaw was not the best and I wish I had gone with the spicy. The ribs were beyond measure good, tender and seasoned perfectly. The briskett burnt ends were on another level. Delicious. I could have just had that without the ribs or slaw. But I regret nothing- I was eager to taste the ribs. Quick and efficient service, beer options were good and locally sourced mostly from Boulevard. The sauce was out of this world good.
This is the best BBQ in KC-hands down. This trip we had the Z-Man sandwich (brisket with an onion ring and cheese), fries and beans. The Z-Man is very good and a personal favorite. Would suggest that the fries and beans be shared--there is enough for two. Food was delicious.
I was very pleased that I could order online and pickup curbside. I ordered the burnt end sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! The flavor was really tasty and the meat had such good texture. I ate it so fast! I highly recommend this place. Just looking at the picture of my sandwich makes my mouth salivate.
What a delightful barbecue location. Serving is both a gas station and a restaurant, it's certainly unique. We made our purchase online, and stopped by to grab some barbecue sauce to go. it was a really seamless experience to order online and pick up in store. The four-pack includes the barbecue sauce that made Joe's famous as well as three other sauces.
UNBELIEVABLY good food. I can see why they have continuously won award after award.
