Delightfully authentic, great service with updates on how long food will take to make (fresh!). So so happy this is a dining option in KC! Not all of the menu is available each day (it’s a huge menu), so be aware. I’ll be back again and again!

I couldn’t help but go into this restaurant just from the smell Wafting outside As I passed it. It was the perfect authentic African experience for our KC Ubuntu group after our meeting. 15 of us agreed that fannies food is so authentic, very clean place and we hope for and it’s continued success! Since we came on a soft opening there were only five dishes to choose from but they told us of 20 more, and we want to try them all! So many blessings to you Annie and your wonderful staff! Thank you Eric for being a great later later since we came on a soft opening there were only five dishes to choose from but they told us of 20 more, and we want to try them all! So many blessings to you FAnnie and your wonderful staff! Thank you Erick for being great waiter🙏💕

We read other reviews first and either the issues have been resolved, or we came on a good night. We didn't have to wait long at all for our food, despite that it was obvious they were busy with carry-out orders. The service was perfect other than one slight issue when we received an appetizer, but no small plates for us to use. Likewise, the food was excellent, and unlike some complaints, the portions were huge (had to take leftovers home). We had fufu, okra with goat meat, and mackerel with rice and plantain. Some of the flavors were unlike anything we'd ever tasted, especially the rice. The ginger drink was great. We thought the prices were appropriate for what we received. We'll be back.

So delicious!!! Went for lunch and though several items were not available, there was still plenty to choose from. The attieke — fried mackerel — was crispy, as was the chicken. Really love how flavorful and seasoned everything was. The beef samosas were huge. The crust was thin and perfectly fried, which paired so great with the umami beef filling. Be prepared for a leisurely meal, so set aside time. It’s not a place where you’ll be rushed out.

I saw many reviews about this place being slow but food being amazing, and my sister and I had time to kill so we decided to go for it. We were not disappointed! We got the fried rice with chicken and then the banku, I believe. We really wanted to try the peanut butter soup and a couple other things but those are only served at dinner. Contrary to reviews, our food came out fairly quickly. Possibly because we came at lunch when it was not busy? It was hot and delicious. The red sauce paired with it was spicy; I absolutely loved it. The cucumber salad was very refreshing beside it and they each had their own different type of dough. We had plenty for leftovers. It is a little pricy but with the amount of food and preparation I don’t mind. I would love to come back!

I've been coming here for a few years and I always spend over $150. They are a unique restaurant and there's not any other restaurant serving West African cuisine so I try to patronize it and ignore the flaws in service. But the last couple of times I've come the food has tasted burnt and lots of palm oil inside to where I have to drain my soup before I eat. Even with the price increase of $24.50 for a little container of soup, I supported. But burning food is unacceptable. Please do better. Everything taste just inedible. Burnt or too much salt. I also believe that they are serving frozen food or reheated food from the day before. I'm fed up. The community always shows love. We deserve better !! EDIT: My 4 goat meat stew was not goat meat but just regular beef. Also other ethnicity eat pepper. When we ask for it why give us a cup full of burnt tomato? We don't want to dip our puff puff or samosas or plantain in tomato. Give us real pepper like what is supposed to be served in the cuisine. Update on 9/28/22: I decided to try them again after 4 months of not coming. I dined in and carried out. The meat pie and puff puff was so good. The snapper was fried to perfection. I got 2 goatmeat stew, 2 egusi, 2 peanut butter, 2 okra and 2 cassava leaf. I love June. He has the best customer service skills ever. Liz is so beautiful and friendly. Great customer service. Great improvement. Well done

While the food is absolutely delicious, as noted in other reviews, the service is EXTREMELY slow. We got our appetizers within 15 minutes, but our main entree did not arrive until an hour after we had ordered. Fortunately, the restaurant made an appropriate price adjustment to make up for the long wait. I otherwise loved the jollof rice, plantains, and peanut curry. Just be warned to expect a long wait, even if you put in your order to go.

Very good food. Took a long time to get food but it was fresh. I ordered a drink 3 times with 3 different servers and never received it which was disappointing but I had water.

It was a great experience and I loved it. My babe surprised me with this west Africa food I missed so much. I will go there again and would recommend it to anyone that wants to try African food.

They sometimes oil up your soups, i personally like my soups with a little oil in it but sometimes it be DRENCHED with oil. Mind as well call it oil soup. But i really love their chicken and lamb soups. Yummmm. Also they gave me a free sprite, they’re so sweet, people love me. :) Thanks!

The atmosphere is welcoming and they have good tunes jamming the whole time you eat. They make the food once it's ordered so it takes time but very much worth the wait. I had the Jollof Rice with Chicken, Banana Plantain, and Veggies. Tried but not pictured is Cassava Leaf with chicken, also tasty! Medium heat level ordered. Last but not least was their puff puffs dessert - like a large fluffy thicker donut that comes with granulated sugar

I go here for the vegetarian jollof rice all the time. It's always been bomb af. Its not spicy unless you use the sauce in the plastic container. I also ventured out to these puff puffs which came with this spicy sauce. The combo together was delicious. Oh and unless you're eating there though, make sure you order ahead of time to avoid the wait.
