This is a hidden gem. You must come and enjoy the authentic Argentinian eats. Very friendly owners, amazing food and service. The robot that brings the food will also bring a smile to your face. Lots of room to have a party with friends and family.
Los Hornos Restaurant in Kansas City provided a unique dining experience that left us thoroughly impressed. The combination of traditional Argentine cuisine with a futuristic touch, thanks to their robotic waiter "Arturito," was a delightful surprise.
For appetizers, the Provoleta with chimichurri was a cheesy and savory delight. The gooey Provoleta cheese paired perfectly with the zesty chimichurri sauce, setting the tone for a fantastic meal. The Milanesa was crispy and flavorful, showcasing their mastery of this classic dish. The empanadas were a highlight, with a flaky pastry crust and delicious fillings.
Dessert options were equally exceptional. Maria Luisa was a delightful concoction of sweet and creamy goodness, while the chocotorta provided a decadent chocolaty finish to the meal.
Arturito, the robotic waiter, added a fun and futuristic element to the dining experience. Its efficient service and friendly interactions were a conversation starter throughout the evening.
Overall, Los Hornos Restaurant exceeded our expectations with its delicious Argentine fare, innovative technology, and impeccable service. It's a must-visit for those seeking a memorable dining experience in Kansas City.
Delicious empanadas. We tried every one. Our favorites: vegetarian (SO DELICIOUS), sfija, ham and cheese, and beef.
The other ones were tasty, but these packed the flavor. All empanadas were warm and crunchy with delicious fillings.
Food was excellent! We had 3 types of empanadas (tucumana, ternera, and sfija) and the provoleta with chimichurri. Sangria was also delicious and a great price during happy hour. I can’t wait to go back and try more items on the menu.
What a great surprise to find such a good restaurant so near KCI airport! We had one of each of the empanadas and loved them-try the chimichurri because it’s excellent. Great patio and cosy booths that are so inviting!
Pros:
My husband and I traveled to Argentina many years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed having authentic empanadas again. I liked the flavors in my empanadas. I wish they were served with dipping sauce like chimichuri... that should come standard.
My kids loved the ham and cheese empanadas. We also loved the desserts we tried. Kid approved restaurants are difficult for us, so that is a big plus.
Cons:
The chimichuri starter (provoleta with chimichuri) was a big disappointment. It was served with saltines which is a big complaint for me. It should be served with a more hardy bread and the cheese was too geasy. And it was a tiny amount of dip for that price point. Big thumbs down.
Empanadas were fantastic. The beef milanesa was also very good. I had the three-step menu that included a starter principal meal desserts and a beverage. The coolest part was being served by a computer that made its way from the kitchen to my table.
Take out service was great! Tried the chicken empanadas and the veggie empanadas and also the sfija along with the chimichurrie and tomato sauces. Nice and hot, good crunch to them, flavorful filling in all of them. Also added a piece of Maria Luisa cake. Highly recommended this delicious dessert. Friendly people.
I love this place, casual and down to earth. The owner was so sweet. I had a salad and 3 empanadas. I’m sure their other dishes are yummy. Definitely come get a taste of Argentina. FYI of March 4th, 2023, they will be closed from the 7-28th.
Arranged for dinner with a group of 10, and it was a wonderful experience. Everyone said their meal was perfect. We weren't paying attention, and didn't leave until an hour after closing time. Our hostess was very gracious, and didn't bat an eye. If you are tired of dining in chain restaurants, Los Hornos is a family owned gem that you shouldn't be missed.
