Went here for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is very relaxed and my calzone was delicious! The waitress was super nice and the chef/owner even came out to see how our food was. I'll definitely be returning to try more items on their menu. Oh, and their chocolate cake is divine!
Pepperoni + Apple Ale.. Love, love, love! That is, aside from the caesar salad, which left a peculiar aftertaste on my mouth. I had a pepperoni slice and was delighted to find that they carry Redd's apple ale. There was a little wait, but nothing more than at most places around lunchtime. I loved the way the place was decorated, and the waitress was super nice. Def. going back if I find myself in KC again!
Excellent Food. My friend and I went to eat at Art of Pizza. She was talking about the two pizza joints and she has eaten at PizzaBella. So we decided to try something totally new to both of us. Garlic knots are excellent! She ordered a smaller version of their pizza with her favorite toppings and it still took two boxes to take home the leftovers. That pizza didn't last long once she got home. It was excellent. I had a calzone and it was very good except I made the mistake of ordering ham. It would have been excellent with a pepperoni or salami instead. Totally willing to go back and try it again. Also, the desserts were great. I liked the dark atmosphere and cozy surroundings.
By far one of me very favorite places to eat. Yes it sometimes takes a little while to get pizza, but that is because he is making it fresh. The sandwiches are fanominal. Would deffinatly recommend it to anyone.
If you call ahead, it is fast. This is near my office and has become an easy go-to if I need a quick bite to eat. I always call in my order, because it can take awhile if you don't. I would rather wait at my desk and finish up some work, than linger in there waiting for food. The pizza is always really yummy, and the price is reasonable. Their sauce is my favorite...
By far, best pizza in KC! Might not be classiest place in town, but down-to-earth owner serves it up right! Take your appetite and get garlic knots and fully loaded pizza. YUM! and enough to take home. Always been very family friendly and welcoming. ENJOY!
Great food, good price. Fantastic service.
A favorite.... To be honest, I agree it takes forever - so call ahead if your in a hurry. But it is possibly the best pie in town, far out stripping the other D'Pizza place that has come to disappoint so many recently. The family friendly deal? I've had no issue... the owner can be surly on a good day and he's been a charmer with my boy when I've had him in.
Great Pizza!. I love this pizza. It is awesome, maybe some of the best in KC. Definitely the best downtown. It does take forever... and I certainly agree with it not being kid-friendly. I have too felt the stink-eye.
Food's Great But.... I've never had a bad meal at Art of Pizza. The food is always great, it just takes for-ev-er to get. If you're on a tight lunch schedule, call ahead and get it to go.
Today I had the lunch special, house salad, slice and a drink for $6.95. My husband ordered the meatball sub. We both really enjoyed the food. The meatball sub was so big he only ate half, the rest will hopefully be my lunch tomorrow!
Walking in the door I was transported to another time, before designer restaurants and fast food chains. If you aren't hungry before you walk in, you will be the second you smell the aroma of pizza pie wafting through the air. The 90 degree heat lead us to their indoor dining, small but not cramped, rather than their patio.
I had a fantastic slice of New York Style Cheese Pizza... the crust perfection, a Peroni Nastro Azzurro beer, and an authentic Vanilla Italian Soda.
A fantastic taste of downtown Kansas City.
My #1 Pizzeria in all of Kansas City. As a native New Yorker of 25 years it is super hard to find good pizza in the Midwest. If you have ever been to Kansas City it’s the home of people who think putting honey on a dominoes like pizza from a place called Joe’s is “great!”. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM, go Here instead! The food is great and so close to pizza from back home that I no longer feel the need to run straight to a pizzeria the second I get off the plane when I visit NY.
The owner Vic reminds me of your typical NY pizzeria owner that makes me feel right at home. Their garlic knots are also awesome.
I've ordered at least two dozen pizzas from Art of Pizza over the last year, so it's about time I threw my review in. I think this place is great, and the pizza is superb. (It's my favorite NY-Style pizza joint in the entire city.)
For those who spoke ill of the people here, I've had the opposite experience. They're friendly, kind, and joke around with me every time I visit. (It might behoove you folks to show courtesy and politeness to others, I imagine.)
Authentic. This place is great. Friendly owner, superb pizza pie, specials that are really special and a cozy bar. What's not too like? The owner, Vic, was incredibly nice to us and we chatted for about an hour. We were there from out of town and he made Kansas City feel like a much warmer and friendlier place to us.
Amazing pizza!! The staff are super friendly and helpful and their food is incredible! I'm a huge fan of pizza, especially New York style, and this is the closest thing you will find out in the Midwest. They have an extensive menu, reasonable prices, and daily specials that are plenty of reason to make this a frequent stop for anyone. The Art of pizza is truly a work of art!!
Just wandered around the neighborhood and decided to try this place. The atmosphere is fantastic, seating is comfortable. A good variety of food and drinks. We had the pizza and some fries. The pizza was okay, but I'm pretty particular about my pizza. I was disappointed when the fries came out crinkle cut (the saddest fry), but they were really good. We will definitely be back.
The pizza is good New York style. By the slice or you can buy the whole pie. And they had chicken wings on special. The waves were very tasty nice size not too spicy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's a little pricey. But I would definitely eat there again.

Absolutely AMAZING pizza! I 1000% recommend the White Pizza. Don't be fooled by other imitation white pizzas - This one is the real deal! The taste was phenomenal, the atmosphere is fun, and the owner is very friendly. DEFINITELY always going to stop where when near/going to the performing arts center!
I had an amazing experience. The owner saw I was cold and immediately turned up the heat for me without asking. He was Also making his own Italian dressing and brought us out a salad with the dressing to try it out. It’s a down to earth environment with fresh pizza and generous slices.
Great pizza! Just like I remember from the tri-state area! Loved it!
