History of the business = fun and interesting
Beer on tap in cool Kelly’s plastic cups = cold and refreshing
Amazing pizza to snack on while enjoying your beer = so delicious you’ll order twice.
Tried the Dill-Dough pizza to take home and ended up eating the 10” pie with friends while still there. It was so delicious that we ordered a second Dill-Dough to take with us… it only lasted about 20 minutes before it was gone too.
Staff were all super friendly and fun as well and the atmosphere of the place is just really cool and cozy, even when packed to the brim with party-goers dressed in their Halloween costumes. Considering how busy they got later in the night, the wait for another drink was really not long at all.
Great place to hang out at. Pretty good beer selection and live music. There's also a pizza place inside to get something to eat. The pizza was good too. There was a line to get in when I left.
Solid dive bar in the oldest building in KC! Came here after brunch on a weekend, it was pretty slow while we were here but that just meant we got much more attention from the bartender who was great company. Reasonably priced, matches the atmosphere. Would love to come back at night when its probably more packed, overall felt like a fun place, would come back!
Went there twice last weekend. Great employees and patrons. Watched Mizzou - Kansas game with bunch of fine strangers. Go there !
Best and most historic bar in KC. I have spent most of my adult life coming here and will continue to do so.
The food and drink were great, but they get 5 stars for hosting a party for an organization that benefits young people with Downs Syndrome! Those kids were having a blast with music and dancing. We told the owner, she was awesome for doing this event.
Huge and fun bar. It was completely over capacity when I went on a Friday night. It was a wild wild time.
Kelly's and the adjoining Chouteau Store are considered to be the oldest buildings still standing in Kansas City. Kelly's Westport Inn was constructed around 1850 and used to be a trading post for westward settlers. Funny story relayed by the history major/bartender... they used to massively oversell settlers on provisions. They got maybe 30 miles outside of town and had to dump a lot because of the weight. So the store owners would head out, reclaim it, and sell it to the next hapless soul. The picture was the throngs of people outside is a "typical St. Paddys". Love it. My kinda dive bar 😁
Thank you Kyle and Pat for a wonderful memory with old friends at Kelly’s. This establishment has been a local gathering place in Westport for generations. It’s fun and friendly atmosphere epitomizes the heart of KC. It is definitely a place to see in KC when you go.
This place is always packed, and their staff is so good at managing the big crowd and making sure everyone gets service.
