The food was soooo good. Flavors were so good in everything we had & you can just tell it was prepared well. The service was great & the vibe was super cute. I don’t know what took me so long to get here, but I can’t wait to come back for brunch! Overall, great place to visit when you’re in the River Market area.

I went there with a family member. We got the arugula salad with goat cheese, pistachios, walnuts, and apricots. It was delicious and very refreshing. I ordered the cheeseburger, and my family memeber got the empanadas with pork belly and a fantastic aïoli sauce. We rounded the event out with the banana cream pie, which came with icing made out of pea flour, which surprisingly was terrific. Our server was professional, friendly, and on point. If you haven’t been inside this restaurant, just going in for a drink and looking at the amazing bar and stucco work. It is worth the price of admission.

Came here for our 2nd marriage anniversary! Such lovely waiting staff and a warm atmosphere. Not to mention how on point the dishes are. Definitely will be coming back for many more celebrations.

Nice atmosphere and staff. Coworkers all enjoyed their food (blackened chicken tacos, burger and salmon). I only the other hand was very underwhelmed by the trout because it was primarily a bowl of rice (see pic). Surprised only half of the trout was served given how small and thin/little flesh was on it. Came with an egg, two small pieces of plantain hidden under the rice (never seen that before despite all my travels & live if Cuban/DR/PR food), and tons of not very flavorful rice.

My Aunt and I had a delicious lunch here. The atmosphere was lovely. The service was great. Super cute restaurant, next to the City Market. I would highly recommend it.

Delicious food, fantastic drinks and great atmosphere. The patio is fantastic for brunch on the weekends or drinks in the evenings. Love their specials and the purple mist drink. One of our favorite date night spots in Kansas City!

Very cool spot in the river market. The restaurant/bar looks like it’s out of history. Our server was terrific and the food was creative and delicious. The chef’s board is worth the price. Full of house made foods and pickles. We also had the ceviche which was full of crab and shrimp. We also had the Nashville hot chicken sliders and they were handmade and spicy with a white bbq sauce. Side of fries was hot and crispy.

Stopped in for a late breakfast after walking around at the River Market and before heading to the Royals game. Nice place with cool and clean atmosphere. Food was good and service wonderful. We all enjoyed our food and experience.

Brown and Loe is special treat to be savored. A beautiful unassuming eatery packed with flavorful dishes and delicious hand crafted drinks (soda fountain!!). We ordered 3 small plates and enjoyed a few specialty cocktails during happy hour. Excellent experience, come as you are and enjoy

This was a near perfect experience for me. We stopped in on a Saturday morning (Memorial Day weekend). We were seated right away and decided to eat outside. They have a great patio spot. We got water and drinks quickly. The waitress was attentive but not overbearing which I always appreciate. The food was fantastic. The chicken and waffles were delicious. The chicken was crispy but not too heavily breaded and had a nice seasoning. The waffles were a little sweet, but eaten with the chicken was perfect. The honey and white bbq drizzle put it into perfection territory. The ham and cheese sandwich was also delicious. The ham was thinly sliced and was so tender. The pimento cheese aioli added a nice tang and the egg on top is always a great addition. Potatoes were cooked well and had a few green peppers and onions mixed in. I got a cranberry mimosa and it was generous with the Prosecco. My husband had a cappuccino that was nothing fancy, but did the trick. I wish we lived in town so I could make this a regular spot!

This place is incredible. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. Everything in sight was clean and tidy (even the nooks and crannies commonly missed by other restaurants). All of the food was cooked perfectly and presented flawlessly. When it comes to a well thought out and nicely executed cocktail menu, this is your spot. Our drinks were made by a trainee (I believe it was just her second night) and they were absolutely lights out. Truly wonderful night!

Next stop KC... Pretty swell spot for brunch. Omg, the home potatoes are so good!!!! Everything was worthy. I cannot complain. The service, the food, and the cocktails really gave me hope for KC and their eateries. Easy parking and no wait for a mid-day stop in for food. If you are from KC, hopefully this is a frequent stop. If you are visiting, check it out.

The Hot Chicken Sliders should be cut down to two instead of three because there isn't quite enough chicken on them. They were delicious, tho! The calamari was also really good. The dipping sauces, not so much. The Purple Mist cocktail was also a winner! The champagne cocktails we tried would have been much better if the champagne was colder.

My wife didn't love Brown and Loe's take on Pumpkin Soup but I was a huge fan of their Mac and cheese with grilled chicken! Service was excellent. Empty drinks were refilled faster than most places! Food arrived quickly too! All staff interactions were friendly. Hard to beat the location. I didn't notice an excess of volume like some of the other reviews. We could easily carry on conversation without needing to raise our voices. This was during dinner on a Saturday night. We'll certainly be back to try some other menu options!

Lovely experience on a beautiful Sunday afternoon on the patio! We walked around the City Market today and ate on the patio at Brown & Loe. That was a cool experience, because the owner, Kate McGlaughlin, offered to give us a tour when I asked about the history of the building. It is right on the corner of 5th & Walnut, and was originally the Merchants Bank, built around 1920. It took her and her dad about 4 years to get all the renovations done and open. It's really cool. It had 3 vaults, one of which is their kitchen's drink station, and another is a private dining room for 6-8 guests. It has a lot of marble and dark woods, and she painstakingly picked out the furniture, sending one style back, before getting these tables and chairs, that I think look like they always belonged there. Then she told us that when they first bought the building, they didn't realize there was a basement, but the architect found it on some old plans. So they uncovered it, reclaimed/renovated it, and that's where the bathrooms are now. She was just so nice and anxious to show us what they've done there. The reason for the name is that the Brown & Loe vegetable distributor company was originally on the second floor, and although long-gone, they let Kate keep the cool neon signs and clock on the building, so thus the name of the restaurant. The restaurant closes early on Sundays after brunch (3:00), so when we were coming back around the corner afterwards, taking pictures, the executive chef saw us, and was very nice and told us some more things, i.e., that those old signs are on two sides of the building, etc. My husband and I shared the turkey club sandwich with fries, which was more than enough for 2! The fries tasted hand cut, and it was nice to sit out on the patio and have a couple glasses of wine! And our waitress was very nice, too.

Best thing was appetizer meat and cheese tray. Served beautifully. Oh and the key lime pie was to die for. Food ok. Sirloin cooked wrong very chewy, buttermilk chicken sandwich dry. Salmon and turkey club was nicely done. Service was good, atmosphere fun

I wish I could five 5 stars, but cannot. It was 30 minutes before someone took our order. We were quite hungry & could have ordered an appetizer at that timeframe. I ordered the field greens salad with my dinner. There were some old slimey leaves in my salad. The dressing was odd tasting & too much vinegar burned my lips. Gold raisins & dried cherries did nothing to pull this salad together. For dinner I had the chicken. It was also a huge disappointment. Very dry, hardly warm & overpowered by maple syrup flavor. Dried cherries were used in this dish as well, but didn't fit here either, particularly with the maple syrup flavor. I had to ask for more gravy to be able to eat the chicken and give it some moisture, and I am not a fan of gravy. (My dinner continued to get cold while I waited several minutes for the lukewarm gravy to arrive.) Even though I often don't eat the skin, it should have been left on during cooking to help maintain the juices in the chicken. Meanwhile I ran out of water & had to track someone down to fill my glass. The waitress was not very accessible or visible during the evening, especially after I gave my opinion of my dinner. (A manager or supervisor brought me the gravy.) The next time we saw the waitress, she dropped off our bill & never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. During the evening after I expressed my concerns, I was offered something else, but didn't want to wait again since I was hungry and had already been there over 45 minutes waiting for food. This looked like a great place to eat & the Yelp reviews were good, but unfortunately I cannot recommend it & will not be eating here again.

Visited with family for Restaurant Week and it did not disappoint. Started with drinks at the bar from Mark and they were awesome. Mark was very friendly and well versed on all aspects of the restaurant. Great atmosphere and even better food. This will now be in our rotation of restaurants in KC. I HIGHLY recommend!

We love sitting at the bar and having brunch, drinks, and/or dinner. Seriously good food, (shrimp and grits, oysters, and the burger stand out in my mind) and really friendly and helpful staff. Especially Jake who found out I just moved back to KC and that my boyfriend was visiting from New York. He gave us a short-tour of some of the photographs in the restaurant and a list of other places we need to try. His mixed drinks are always delicious and different.

I came here with my grandparents this afternoon and what a wonderful experience! All of the food we had was amazing! From grits to flatbread to the bucatini chicken carbonara! My grandparents loved the place! Jason was our server and what delight he was! He was extrmelu helpful with explaining the other menus for the other services! 10/10 on every aspect! Just left Mothers Day Brunch. Absolutely delicious. Nothing short of perfect. The menu was thought through and there was something for everyone’s preference on it. But, those donut holes with chocolate ganache.. oh my!! Very well done and the staff was on it, I will go back and I was impressed with the food and service on this busy Mother’s Day morning.

My husband and I were really looking forward to going to Brown and Loe. Made a reservation and when we arrived, very empty. We were greeted and seated immediately but then it too quite some time for anyone to take our drink order. I ordered the trout and my husband got the octopus special. The trout was good but the creamed corn had so much black pepper that my mouth was on fire! My husband’s octopus had “grit” (probably sand from not being cleaned well) in almost every bite. Unfortunately, I doubt we’d go back with many other restaurant choices nearby.

Wife and I both had the Special of the Day, Pork Chops, Scrambled Eggs and Biscuit & Gravy. A little lite on Gravy. Wife's Margarita (On Rocks) was Awesome. $$$ was a bit high but food was Great. Waitress was Good also.
