What an incredible all around experience! We didn’t make reservations, but they were able to squeeze us into a back patio, which was quaint and private. The bottom-less mimosas were fantastic and the meals were divine, we ordered 4 different meals so we could all have a bite. Pure flavor heaven with each plate and our waiter, Alexander was extraordinary, by far the best customer service and personality. This is a MUST experience while your in KC!

Fabulous Brunch... server, Matthew made it so much fun. Beignets, French toast, Eggs Benedict.. bottomless Mimosas... everything great. As a group we did not enjoy the singer. Very loud and to our ears not good. We had such a great time we just ignored it. We will be back. Thank you

Don't tell my wife but I'm going to have an affair with Affäre. It was absolutely amazing. I had the venison steak and she had the wild boar. They were flawless, honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. Dessert was fantastic we had the cheese cake and the black forest cake. I'm definitely coming back here, I don't care how much it cost, shut up and take my money.

This is a quaint, upscale street-side restaurant at the Crossroads in downtown KC. It serves German faire mostly, with some other popular items like the Nebraska Wagyu steak, New Zealand Venison, and a healthy seafood menu. Its not a lot to look at from the outside and is entirely an interior restaurant, but it is well made. Atmosphere: I love the seating options with tables, benches, and couches all available. They take privacy and the ability to hear one another seriously. The tables are not close together and there's a very soothing and conversational ambiance. It does have that rustic downtown setting but with a sleek and professional interior design. Service: The staff did wonderful. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and pitched the product well He took the time to explain the dishes, named in German, and gave us good insight. Great service at the bar as well. Food: the appetizers were great and off the chartuterie board I had the best blue cheese I've ever tasted. A very extensive wine and beer list for those wanting to partake. They are known for their fantastic German reislings. As for the main dish, I was a bit disappointed. The venison steak was good and enjoyable, but not outstanding enough to make the whole dish spectacular. To that end, the sides did the restaurant an injustice. Presented very well, but there wasn't much too special about the "bread pudding", the sauced half-pear, or the broccoli. At that, those dishes range in the 30s and 40s. The Venison steak dish was 44. The Wagyu steak was 75. If we had stopped there, it might drag it down to a 4 star review, but the desserts were amazing. Very well done and delicious. All around a positive experience and barely makes a 5 star in my book based on the whole everything together, but not a full 5 stars in the space it was competing with. I really like the things they did well though, and would be open to giving it another shot.

A nice, updated take on the typical schnitzel and sausage fare you typically find in German restaurants. The brat trio was delicately flavored and nicely sauced. Preferable to the seafood risotto dish, which was competently executed, but nothing beyond what you’d find in another good local restaurant. The Painted Table dessert was remarkable in sweet flavors and in flame-illuminated presentation. Truly unique.

The service was excellent and the staff was really awesome and attentive. We thought the tasting menu itself was pretty average for the price. Everything tasted fresh but kind of lackluster, especially the apps and dessert and the Black Forest cake didn’t really have the layer of cherries like it’s supposed to. Still happy to try the place out with my hubby for my birthday dinner. We spent around $150 and left very full and satisfied.

The restaurant is quaint with an edge. Service was stellar from the moment we walked and the food exceeded expectations. I'm gluten free due to allergy and there's plenty of choices. The menu is filled with interesting and delicious options. The cocktails were amazing as well. #Affare is worth checking out.

I would give this restaurant 100 stars. The food is excellent. The Jager Schnitzel was crispy and the meat was tender. The duck breast was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the morels and white asparagus. On top of truly wonderful cuisine, the service was outstanding.

The place was amazing. Nothing overly goddy, the decoration, but still sets the mood for a German-style restaurant I would say the food would be traditional German fair done, fine dining with a tinge of American flavor. our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines. The lobster poutine was a standout, though I’m sure it’s not German :)

We stumbled in on a chilly Thanksgiving evening, having just arrived in town, no reservation, on what looked to be a busy evening for them. A gracious host seated us at the bar and welcomed us like family. The Mrs. had the venison, I had the vegetables. We both had the soup. This was some stunningly good food! And wine, and hospitality. Thankful for this serendipitous experience!

So many flavors in the venison dish! And there appears to be no upper limit on the size of the beer steins. Can't go wrong.

10 star meal and one of the best I've ever had in my life. I got the tasting menu and put myself in the chef's hands. 1000% recommended. Katie (sorry if I'm wrong) made me feel like I was the only person she was concerned with, even while being very busy otherwise. Great service, phenomenal food and an extensive drink menu I didn't explore. Their inside seating was beautiful, they had a space for bigger parties and the nicest looking patio. Come and let them spoil you.
