Review Cafe Trio Restaurant - Kansas City

Mary Murphy
I wish I could give the atmosphere 10/5 stars!!! I did not know they had a cute Christmas pop up happening when I decided to come here on a whim. The staff was super sweet and the food was great! The Mac and cheese was hearty and delicious. The crab cakes were divine (although I did not care for the flavoring of the corn that it came with). The roasted sweet corn risotto was okay (I’m not sure I would get it again) it was definitely unique but seemed like more of a rice than a risotto. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to come back.

Was our first time here and a great dinner to kick off our Xmas weekend on the Plaza. The place was decked out in fun, festive Christmas decor. Delicious festive themed cocktails. And the food was cooked to perfection, great flavor, perfect portions. The three of us had the blacked grouper, scallops, and salmon with angel hair. I recommend reservations, even early on a Friday. It filled up fast.

We had a stellar experience here for a birthday dinner outing. I loved the setting whether you’re seated at the bar or a table and we enjoyed the live pianist playing. Great menu items to choose from, I recommend the mussels, salmon chowder, and seafood lasagna! But you can never go wrong with any dish and pair it with a drink. Lastly, we were very thankful for the wonderful staff that accommodated us phenomenally that evening. Matt was our server and we were very appreciative. 🫶🏼💗

The drinks, food, and atmosphere were EVERYTHING! I went during Halloween and it was beautiful. Wonderful for happy hour or a date night.

The variety and quality of the happy hour offerings were simply amazing. Whether you're a fan of savory or have a sweet tooth, they have something to satisfy every palate. The creativity in their specials is commendable, showcasing the chef's talent and dedication to providing a unique culinary journey. The flavors burst in your mouth, and each dish was a work of art. Speaking of artistry, the food at Café Trio was exceptional. I'm a bit of a foodie, and I can honestly say that this place exceeded my expectations. Every bite was a harmonious symphony of flavors and textures. The presentation was a feast for the eyes, making each dish not only delicious but also visually stunning. Whether you opt for a classic favorite or try one of their inventive creations, you won't be disappointed. Now, let's not forget about the service. The staff at Café Trio truly understand the meaning of hospitality. They were attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the evening. It's clear that they take pride in what they do, and it reflects in the seamless dining experience they provide. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations, which added to the overall enjoyment of our visit. The attention to detail at Café Trio is evident in every aspect of the dining experience. The ambiance, food quality, and service were all on point. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a memorable night out, Café Trio is the place to be. In conclusion, I can't recommend Café Trio highly enough. This place has quickly became my favorite restaurant. The staff, atmosphere and food is absolutely amazing! A special shout out to David! He is a fantastic bartender and always has a smile on his face. The very first time I went there, he served me behind the bar. He was super friendly and accommodating in every way. Which is a main reason why I came back the next night. So, in the last month or so, I have been there with my daughter, my husband and 5 other times. (Keep in mind there are a lot of great restaurants on the plaza and I keep coming back here.) Best Grouper in KC! Last night I had the scallops and they were delicious but I couldn’t eat them all. So I wanted to take them home to my husband, but that’s on Thursday. So they carefully wrapped my food in Saran Wrap and then added it to a tight container in order to keep for 3 days. They didn’t even seem put out at all. I wish I knew the gentleman’s name that packaged it up for me. (David would know who it was) Keep up the great customer service to everyone that works there! Oh, and btw, they have a great happy hour menu and on Monday, it’s all day happy hour. Best to get a reservation especially if you want to sit on the patio on those awesome fall days.

Wow! We were traveling back from Colorado and stopped here for dinner. Service is excellent. Food was outstanding. Martinis made perfectly dry-smooth. Mushroom toast was our starter and I keep dreaming of it. We live 5hrs away so trying to figure out the recipe to make at home. It’s that good. Beet arugula salad with warm goat cheese taste as pretty as it looks. Steaks were tender melt in mouth. I had hanger, date had filet. Normally we skip dessert but we knew it would be special because ever aspect of Trios is well thought out and executed to perfection. It was a great evening. Owners stopped at table. They work hard, staff is happy and happy to serve. Shout out to Jeffrey. Great evening. Thank you!

We went for Happy Hour (Monday is ALL DAY Happy Hour). We arrived at 4 p.m., just as Happy Hour started. Found a parking spot right away in an area that isntight on parking. We started with the Spinash and Berry salad (so good). Then we has small plates of the Steak Fries, which were amazing, and the Tuscan Shrimp Flatbread was equally as good. We also had the tostada. The Salmon Chowder left A LOT to be desired. Extremely bland. The Signature Martinis are not part of the Happy Hour specials except on Wednesdays. We ended the meal with The big tease BLONDIE. This was a frozen slushy that tasted like a mile shake (vanilla vodka, chocolate liqueur, and Bailey's Irish Creme). Amazing!!! The entire restaurant was decorated with garland, Christmas trees, and Christmas ornaments hanging from the ceiling. Very festive, great experience.

Cafe trio is one of my fav spots in kc. Every time I go I love it! The staff is great. The food is great. The live piano music is so fun. Drinks are wonderful. I will continue to go back here. Specials are always great too!

The daddy Mac is my absolute favorite meal here. The service is great and so are the cosmos. I do wish there was more non reserved seating options. Since there isn’t you should definitely make a reservation for the patio or main dining area, whichever you prefer.

Had reservations for my birthday and a very unfriendly host tried to seat us at a tiny table in the corner at the end of a long bench seat with about a foot or two from the next couple. We were told we could not have a bigger more private table as those were reserved for other people. We ended up at a high top in the bar area which was loud. Food very pricey and mediocre. Our waitress was great. Our first and last visit.

1. The food and drinks are VERY good. And there are so many choices – including soups and salads which you seldom see on a happy hour menu. I went for the chicken livers and they were great and plentiful – and I am an expert on chicken livers, at least eating them. But there’s also excellent truffle fries, flatbread, fried chicken, mussels, crab cakes and steak burgers – 14 different items right now.

This place was so crowded we almost talked ourselves out of waiting. However, I'm glad we didn't. After catching a show, we stopped here. It only took about twenty minutes and we were sitting on the deck looking out over the plaza. I love that! Because we had eaten big meals all weekend I ordered the Arugula salad. It was delicious and there was so much I couldn't finish it. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive. I'd never been there so late. It's very very loud but in an extremely happy way. In the winter time you can still sit out on the deck because they close it all in and heat the area. A great place with a lot to offer, just time your arrival for what you're after.

Never had a bad meal, nor bad service at this restaurant. Been patronizing since its Broadway location. Friendly, fresh and delicious. And the music adds an ambience that is unmatched on the Plaza.

Food was decent, it didn't really stand out to me a whole lot. Our server was friendly and helpful and it's a really cool little place. I left satisfied and would go back.

Gone downhill. Used to dine there a ton where I worked in that area a year ago - loved the Tilapia Club. Went there yesterday - menu changed (downsized) - prices up. Ordered a chicken sald sandwich - it was pricey 12 bucks for what I received was crazy. In the old days, it was served with fries, or fruit and assorted pickled display. Yesterday, sandwich came out with a small handful of potato chips. No presentation. What a ripoff and the chicken salad sandwich was quite scrimpy to boot. Service was slow as usual - that has never changed. I could handle that when food and presentation was good over a year ago. I will never go back and I have dined there dozens of times in the past. It was insulting getting potato chips and sandwich for such a high price - I should have went to Subway!

Very dissapointed. Went to Cafe Trio just before Christmas 2013, I know this is late but the experience was so bad I decided to share it. I ordered a blueberry and lemonade cocktail that was rather flavorless and a chore to drink through a straw that kept clogging from the blueberry skins that filled the bottom of the glass. Then the scallops I ordered, as well as three other diners, came to our table from behind me. I could smell a strong fishy odor that immediately made me question the freshness of the scallops. I was shocked at the four tiny scallops on my plate. For $28 you expect well-over half dollar size but mine were less than that and one was a quarter size. Also they were seriously overcooked which might account for their small size. I suspected they had been cooked ahead instead of to-order. The scallops were on bed of diced root vegetables, Thwe vegetables were so hard I could not stab one piece with my fork. These vegetableshad never seen the inside of a pan and were uncooked. So I hoped to fill up on a roll. That was a serious mistake. The roll was so hard it was impossible break open with my fingers. I had to hold it in one hand and shove the knife in with the other while fearing I would spear my own palm in the process. All for naught because there was no bread inside the roll only airspace surrounded by a hard shell. I was bitterly disappointed but I had to pretend it was a great meal since it was a gift from one of my tablemates. I expected a great meal and received a terrible one that belied the reputation of this restaurant.

Wonderful Drinks. I went here last night for Happy Hour specials with my girls. The atmosphere is wonderful, fancy but not over the top. I was able to have 2 glasses of Pinot Noir for just under $10. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the near future :)

I enjoyed a very pleasant dining expirence with Cafe Trio. Walked in for a pretty late dinner (8:30pm), the host promptly checked to see if the kitchen was still open and I'm so glad it was! We were seated on the patio and asked our server, Derik (spelling?) for his recommendations for appetizers. I really appreciated his honesty and chose the lamb lollipops which he was pretty enthusiastic about. I HIGHLY recommend them, even as a small entree they would be great. Cooked perfectly on a bed of couscous and naked arugala. My date and I decided to share the chicken dish with polenta and roasted vegetables and ordered an additional side of the Mac Daddy because it sounded too good to pass up. Everything was absolutely perfect. Including the service. We appreciated the fresh flavors, thoughtful service and will be back next time we visit Kansas City!

While I have enjoyed trio very much in past, service has begun to get a little less attentive. Had a very poor steak Sunday night, it was taken care of. Sides with meal were very average and lacked flavor. Disappointing that quality has continued to slide downward. A gem is turning into a piece of glass. Too dad.

New Location a Happy Surprise. Familiar with the first incarnation of Cafe Trio at it's original location on Broadway, we were excited to visit them at their new home just off the Plaza.
The decor and ambience were great, exceeded only by the attentive and friendly staff. Though we dined on a week night, the place was hopping and we had the pleasure of reconnecting with several friends we hadn't seen in years. Okay, the meal: Maybe it's just me but is it the trend for appetisers to be searingly flavored? While the just-baked oysters were delicious, the sauce was palate blasting, likewise the salad dressing. But oh my--the Rainbow Trout entree was delightful, perfectly cooked, seasoned, and presented. One of the owners, Chris, checked in with us at least once, and was friendly and welcoming. We exited through the "patio" bar, and the view is of course amazing. Definately a must for future visits, but I'll definately order any appetiser in future with sauces "on the side"!

Very good. Finally got around to trying Cafe Trio after having it on my wishlist for a long time, and came away impressed with the decor, service and food, but still would suggest a couple seemingly small changes.

First, our waiter was attentive and helpful. He shared their daily specials with us upfront, so that we could take them into consideration while we were perusing the menu. I also appreciated the fact that he provided an appropriate balance of checking on us without being overbearing. Adding to the atmosphere was the fact that the inside of the restaurant is stylish, and the jazz pianist playing throughout dinner.

Onto the food. The cocktails were great--my Billie Holiday (blueberry vodka-lemonade) was a refreshing start, and the sip I took of Mrs. Foodiophile's Halle Berry (plum vodka with champagne and muddled blackberries) was well balanced. The highlight food dish was the seared brussels sprouts appetizer, which included seared onions and roasted garlic cloves that melted apart when eating them. There was also a carrot puree that was a nice compliment, although the sprouts didn't need it, they were so flavorful. I was jealous of my better half's special, the skate over risotto cake with braised kale and sundried tomato vinaigrette. Skate is one of my favorite fish to eat when it's cooked properly, and this absolutely was. The risotto cake provided a textural counterpoint to the other elements of the dish. I tried the Mardi Gras snapper, which was blackened with a polenta cake, mustard and collard greens in a creole mustard sauce. There were diced roasted red peppers, onions and bacon on top of the fish, though I wish there had been more. The mustard sauce was a tiny bit overpowering, even though I generally LOVE mustard.

I only have two qualms with Cafe Trio, and they are admittedly a matter of taste/preference, more than anything fundamentally flawed. Mrs. Foodiophile and I both thought the portions were a bit on the large size--after a shared appetizer and a "cup" of pumpkin soup (that looked more like a bowl), we both had trouble finishing our entrees. This ordinarily wouldn't be a big deal, except for the fact that my second issue was the fact that prices are a bit steep on the entrees. I would prefer to pay less for a smaller portion size so that I can enjoy more than just an entree without feeling stuffed at the end of the meal.

Some restaurants make you want to return as soon as you can because of how amazing the experience was. I'm sorry to say that Cafe Trio didn't get to that elite level, but the fact that our meal was very well-prepared combined with the presence of other intriguing dishes on the menu means that we will likely be returning to Cafe Trio.

Wonderful restaurant. I love this restaurant for their food and atmosphere! And I love enjoying a cocktail on their back deck during nice weather.

Dinner Nightmare For the Girls. Our evening began with a party bus picking us up at 6:30 pm! We were so pumped up to go get a bite to eat and then to start the bachelorette party for my future sister-in-law! Cafe Trio was recommended to us by many friends including the bride's parents who eat downtown at many different restaurants. The maid of honor called the morning of to be sure that our reservations were set at all of our different stops. Everything was good to go! We arrived on time and when we got inside we then find out that we only have a reservation for 12 not for the 17 that we were promised. We squeezed in and all was well after being told that we could not pull up anymore chairs. We ordered our drinks and then our dinner. We then waited for 1.5 hours to get our salads and then our food. We understood that we had a big party but they knew about us coming in well in advance. Everyone gets there food except for 2 girls... They both ordered pizzas... Easy. One pepperoni and one sausage. The pepperoni came out and the sausage order was mixed up with a BBQ pizza twice!!!! Both times our friend said nicely, no I ordered a sausage pizza. After that the owner came out and placed a menu sharply in front of our friend and asked her what she would like off the menu.... RUDELY! We were all caught off guard at how this "owner" was speaking to us when nothing was our fault. Two girls went to talk to him quietly about things, but in return he started cussing them out and not treating them like paying customers at all. Our waitress hardly had any of our tickets correct... Again I know we had a large party... But they knew we were coming so why didn't she have help! Longer story short... The owner came back out with a pile of all of our credit cards, telling us that our whole dinner was on the house. That's great, even though we weren't asking for that. Our friend who had ordered the sausage pizza still never received a dinner at all.... She ate leftovers and scraps off of all of our other plates. So he comes back with our credit cards, but does he hand them to us, NO! He literally throws the whole pile of cards at our table... They went all over the floor and table and chairs. It was an awful experience. We all stood up and we are now outraged by this. We hope that the other customers understood what had happened. We did not leave happy and are sharing our story with all family, friends and co-workers!

So Disappointed. I ate here last Saturday, August 4th, and had the worst experience. I was dining with a group of girls for a Bachelorette Party and our experience took a turn for the worst. After waiting almost 2 hours to be served our food, one girl was never served her correct entre. After a numner of attempts to bring out her simple dinner order (cheese pizza with sausage) she was confronted by a man claiming to be the owner who proceeded to show utter disrespect to her. Long story short, my friend never had her dinner and our credit cards/receipts were thrown at us by the "owner". It was horrible and I am so disappointed our evening turned out this way. I will not be returning to Cafe Trio ever.

On another note, I ordered their cheese pizza and it was terrible. Who screws up a cheese pizza?

Just Grazing........ We stopped in at Cafe Trio to graze the appetizer menu before July Jazz Jam at The Community Christian Church across the street. We cozied up to the bar...ordered a reasonably priced bottle of white wine...and a tuscan shrimp pizza with toasted ravioli for a chaser. Everything was excellent including attentive service from the bartender.

My favourite place in Kansas City. From time to time Candanians like myself get adventurous and go on road trips. A few years ago, I found myself in Kansas City, and met two awesome guys who own a restaurant. As a restauranteur myself, I was intrigued and went with my whole Canadian Contingent to Cafe Trio.

It was totally awesome. Everyone raved about the food and the service. Every time I'm back I always make a point to check out Cafe Trio. It has never disappointed!!!

Great happy hour experience. A friend and I recently visited cafe trio for happy hour last Wednesday and sat on the patio. We were promptly greeted and given menus, with explanations of all the specials. Being unfamiliar with the menu, a tattooed bartender filled us in on his favorites and some new items they were focusing on. After ordering some wine, and with a big thumbs up from another bartender, our drinks came out quickly. The patio was gorgeous and welcoming. While deciding on food, we started up conversations with other bar patrons (they seemed to be regulars) and even servers passing by chimed in. Although we had wine to drink, my friend was curious about the house infused vodkas behind the bar, and we were welcomed with a couple tastes. Beef jerky vodka? Yes please! They even had a pineapple, cilantro, and jalapeño infusion in the works but it wasn't quite ready, though I'm curious to taste it later. I had the spinach salad with filet tips. It was fresh, light, and had a pleasantly tangy dressing. I was also impressed with the quality of the steak skewers. My friend had the crab cakes, and was more than satisfied. We had a great time and glad we had stumbled upon this place! In fact, we returned the next morning for a beef jerky bloody mary :)
Great food, service, and ambiance

Horrible Service. I went to to Cafe Trio with a two other people yesterday evening (4/26/2012) around 6:00. It was fairly busy which is to be expected around that time. Being that it was a nice day we asked the hostess if we could sit outside. She went to check and told us it would be a while, which again is completely fine. I do not mind waiting. She told us to feel free to sit at the bar either inside or out. Since we wanted to be outside we decided to sit at the bar on the patio.

I was a little surprised to see that the bar outside was completely empty, there was literally no one else sitting there. Also somewhat irritating were the several empty tables and bar-tops. There were probably around eight open tables/bar-tops which made us wonder why it would "be a little while" before we could be seated.

When we sat down at the bar the bartender did not acknowledge us, not a hello, hi, glance, nothing. He seemed to be upset that we had decided to sit there (as if his job wasn't dependent upon my presence and my money) and continued cleaning some glasses and talking to another server/bartender. I heard him remark about a group of people he was serving inside as being "really douchey". Even if they were "really douchey" it should not be discussed in front of other patrons. How do you expect your other guests to feel when hearing one of your staff make that sort of comment?

He finally brought our menus and still did not say anything to us. We were in the mood for wine and when my wife asked him for a wine menu he acted "really douchey" and rolled his eyes before giving us the menu. After waiting for around 10-15 minutes to just put in our drink order we decided to leave.

I know plenty of other bartenders that love their trade and their patrons. We will not be going back to Cafe Trio for some time.

Been here numerous times 1 of me & my wife's favorites never been disappointed the staff is always impressive & the food is great

Lame. Only thing this place has going for it is location. If you like crap food and service, trio is for you.

Great atmoshere. My wife & I ate dinner here on a Saturday night a couple weeks ago. The food was very good and the back patio is great. Though I concede some of the issues others have mentioned on here regarding closeness and table size we prefer the tight, noisy atmosphere.
We were disappointed by our server though. He wouldn't last a weekend in most of the better restaurants in town.
Jennifermae17
Fantastic Place. I have been several times and have never been disappointed. They change up their menu and I have never had a meal I didn't like. Their martinis are fun and it's a very cozy atmosphere. New location by far has more room than the old one though. The waiters are very friendly…the waitresses not so much but they get the job done. The patio is great when the weather is nice. The seafood lasagna, mac daddy and shrimp pizza are probably my favorites.

Just a lovely place!. We had a group of ladies in for happy hour at Cafe Trio and sat on the deck. It was the loveliest evening! The ambiance is amazing and sexy! Our serve told us it was half price wine night and we took full advantage of that. The small plates are very tasty. We had the mussels (best in town) and the short ribs. The owner came by and thanked us for coming to Cafe Trio. It was really a nice touch.

A Cafe to Remember. The Americana, Asian, Mediterranean fusion is ever present in this just-off-the-plaza knock out stop spot. They have used every inch of space available to them, to bring about ambiance adjectives, like: intimate, chic, sexy, rich and warm. No matter where in the restaurant you end up dining, you are treated to the feeling of being placed in a unique piece of a well thought out ensemble.

The same fusion is present in the menu. A long list of wines, some great beer on tap, a cocktail list ranging from classic to fresh and fun, and even a coffee blend that was personally crafted for the cafe, ensure that you will always have the perfect beverage to pair with your selected food.

The food. On this particular visit I arrived for lunch and was very quickly and warmly welcomed. I was seated in a main level booth, and treated to fantastic service for the duration of my visit. I ordered the Sesame Seared Ahi with the Seaweed Salad. The fish was perfect, the salad crisp and fresh and the sauces and sesame crackers complemented everything very well. I finished the meal with a surprisingly large portioned Amaretto Creme Brulee and a cup of their custom blend coffee.

A WONDERFUL LUNCH.

There are many more facets of this place that are noteworthy, but I encourage you to come and experience them for yourself.

Trio is a Triad on the Taste buds.. I just ate there for the first time (05/11). My friends & I were seated immediately & treated graciously. The wine was impressive & so were our entrées. I ordered the seafood lasagna. I finished the meal w/ the Ricky Martini.
Jeffrey
Horribly rude waitstaff (bartender excluded). Manager & waiters/waitress sitting at bar commenting on customers on the patio & giving my friend & me dirty looks if we laughed. Not impressed...attitude not well-deserved.
Foodsnob
Felt like a tourist. I felt patronized and scammed, as if they would do just about anything to pump up the bill. Food was alright, nothing spectacular.

I really want to like this place but.... Food is just OK. Nothing tastes especially fresh or interesting. Patio is beautiful but the chairs are miserable and it is difficult to deal with your purse, jacket, etc. when you are so high. Table for two was too small for our drinks and plates...had to keep shifting things around to get condiments.
Very nice servers.

Fantastic. What a great place to eat! The food was great, the service was wonderful and the piano player was exceptional. I only wished she played "baby got back". I had the seafood trio dinner and it was great. The salmon was great, I loved it so much I everything on the plate. I want to give this place two thumbs up!!

Kung-Fu and Hummus... Always a Winner. As I was eating by myself, I decided to dine at the bar. Ordered the hummus trio and the Daddy Mac [n' cheese]. As my appetizer arrived, I was treated to "Enter the Dragon" on the bar TV. The hummus was excellent with the fresh pita and the mac n' cheese truly lived up to it's reputation as the best in KC; pair this with Bruce Lee kicking people in the face, one of the best meals ever. Despite the fact that Kung-Fu is not a constant, Trio is definitely worth your time to experience.
Tina
Love it!. Cafe Trio is a night out. Sit and drink the best Martini's, listen to the music ,look at the art from local artists and then order off the great menu. The Macaroni and cheese is a favorite and they have the best small plates. It's a great place for a large party on dining with a loved one
Jacqueline
WOW - Cafe Trio. Was given a free gift certificate by one of the owners when I was at the MDA Event at Union Station so I took my daughter and her new husband in for dinner. I really wasn't sure what to expect but we all really enjoyed our dinner. I wasn't sure about a review but my daughter thought I should post something since the owner was so kind to buy part of our dinner and we all had such a wonderful experience. I learned they are part of The Kansas City Originals (locally owned restaurants?) and signed up on their email list with a reward card. Plan on taking my sister next week. Would recommend the Monkfish - its tremendous! Only complaint is that we had to park in the far back lot, but I learned afterwards they have Valet service at the front door (next time!).

The best of the BEST!. I have been a TRIO fan for years and just have to say that I am so excited the the newer location has taken off and is doing so well! Tai and Chris have been so good to my friends and I over the years and now to my fiance' and I as well. There are so many CLASSY servers, and I think the seafood lasagna is one of the best meals I have ever eaten outside of my home. Cafe Trio does it RIGHT, and everyone there really cares about customer service. Plus, Cafe Trio does SO MUCH for local charities that are a vital part of our KC community. Whether you come for lunch, happy hour, dinner, or just a night cap, Cafe Trio is the right place to be. I wish you all a pleasant meal, and while you are there, be sure to get some Ravioli before your meal because it is amazing! Thank you for being so good to us, Cafe Trio! Love, Kate and Rusty

I hae worked for cafe trio 7 years its one of best experiences to date chris and tai has turned a unique diamond for themselves

Best Chicken Salad Sandwich in KC!. Surprisingly it seems like a lot of people don't like Cafe Trio. I LOVE it! Lunch is definitely the time to go...they have the best sandwiches! Go and have the chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries and you WILL NOT be disappointed!
Dwight Schrute
Not exceptional. Had lunch at Cafe Trio on a beautiful day.. minimal guests, but were seated on the patio so close to another table I couldn't even get out of my chair. Our waitress was beyond nice, but that was pretty much the best part about our experience. The crab cakes were good but very small. I would NOT reccommend their cheese pizza. It was awful. The proportion of cheese to sauce and crust was like 10:1. There was so much cheese my crust was soggy and could only eat it with a fork -- way too heavy to pick up. The cheese mixture was great but they could have used 1/8 as much and it would have been better. The pork sandwich and fries was good, just not exceptional. Probably won't go back, nothing raving about this place.

Worst experience EVER. We had made reservations for my friends bachelorette party dinner. We had 15 girls and had made the reservation well in advance. The Saturday before my friend had even talked to the event coordinator about having her rehearsal dinner there. the event coordinator told her that she would make sure everything went perfect for Saturday when we had reservations. We called to tell them we would be 10 minutes late and they said there was no reservation for us. They said to come on in and they would seat us. Then they sat us on the porch where water was dripping on the table. The man there proceeded to call the bachelorette's sister a "lying B*tch" about the reservation, told us to please see the door and to "look around- we don't need your business." When we asked to talk to a manager he said "I'm the owner." We were in shock! I have had good previous experiences here but don't understand how a place can survive with an owner like that. LOOK AROUND TRIO- THERE ARE OTHER PLACES TO EAT!
Doug
Very average food. The service was very slow, although our server could not have been nicer. Go there for appetizers, but not dinner.

Dinner at Cafe TRio. Probably the best dining experience that my wife and I have had since moving to KC 10 myears ago. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable, our server's recommentations were delicious, the presentation was wonderful. Our experience couldn't have been more enjoyable.
Karen
Poor Customer Service. I recently dined at the new location near the Country Club Plaza. The food and atmosphere were good, yet the customer service was poor. The staff was rude and the service was very slow. Overall, my experience was disappointing.
Jay Spiegel
The new location looks great. You ca. Tell serious thought and work went into it. Even better is that the Trio atmosphere is still there as is the great food and service

Best Restaurant in Kansas City. My wife and I have dined at Cafe Trio on many occasions and have never been disappointed.

The food is always made with the highest quality ingredients and tastes amazing. This restaurant does not cut corners.

The servers are all well trained, very professional, and appropriately attentive.

The crowd is the most diverse and eclectic in Kansas City, with groups present from all areas of town and all lifestyles. It actually feels like you're dining in a big city!

Don't miss half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays!

Richard Rocks!!. I ate at Cafe Trio last night, and it was wonderful!! I had the Mediterranean Seafood Trio, but I have been there before and tried other entrees. I have never been disappointed. The service was tremendous!! Richard, our waiter, was the best. I can't wait to see the new location.
