Review Seva Cuisine Of India - Kansas City

Nicole Noblet
Fantastic food was super delicious. Most of the dishes are gluten free, they even had gluten free roti. This was my first time being able to try Nan! Our group of six chose quite a few different dishes to share. Very good quality food and came to us very hot. We ordered several different times during our visit and each time the servers were extremely kind, and polite, very helpful with all of our questions and requests. We were helped my multiple employees and they were all incredibly friendly and made us feel like they were happy to help us and were very attentive. Will definitely come again, and recommend this to anyone who needs to eat gluten free. The murals on the walls were really beautiful and I loved the large tree and the peacocks!

Why did it take me so long to find this treasure? My family had an absolutely delightful experience at Seva Indian Cuisine! From the moment we stepped in, the warm ambiance and inviting aromas set the tone for an incredible meal. The menu offered a small range of authentic Indian dishes, but each was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The staff was attentive and our cups were never empty. They even come around with grilled chicken to your table so you don’t have to get up. The spices and ingredients used were of the highest quality, resulting in dishes that were both rich and well-balanced. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or a newcomer, Seva Indian Cuisine is a must-visit for a legitimate Indian cuisine dining experience. We will be back!

A journey of flavor awaits you at this restaurant!! My fiance and I decided to come to this restaurant for our first times ever having Indian food. Let me say that it was one of the most amazing moments we've ever had with food!! The Chicken Masala and long grain rice were out of this world! Every bite took us on an epic adventure from the deep and rich flavors!! The Chai tea was wonderful and paired nicely with the food! Lastly, the Garlic Nan was cooked perfectly! It tasted so good by itself and went well with the Masala! Will come back to this restaurant 100%! I unfortunately did not grab a before photo of the food.

Amazing Indian food, and they even have a buffet on the weekends! Who doesn't love a good buffet? I decided to try this out because I was curious about what the food would consist of. They had a small but delicious selection of food. My favorite was the butter chicken. Overall, I would highly recommend it. It will get you full and be a delicious time.

Went with my husband to try this place out. We very much enjoyed the experience. It was delicious, and they had complimentary chai tea 🍵. Their mango Lassi was phenomenal. I got the medium lamb masala and garlic Naan. If you like toasty Naan, then this place if for you, I'm more of a soft cheesy Naan girl, so they missed the mark with that. I also wish the rice was seasoned differently. It seemed a little plain to me. However, it still went well with the masala.

Sooo, I have to say these guys made my birthday dinner with my family a great experience. They had 3 big parties and were on point with all of them. The food is fresh... The food tasted so delicious. I love the style of service, meaning how it is plated. It was like a homely experience. Our servers made sure that answered My and all questions. They were patient and treated us with respect. I am glad we went there after the horrid experience at Masabi japanese restaurant. We all said we would be back and we will. Thanks Masabi for being jerks. We would have missed out on an excellent experience at SEVA Indian restaurant.

Some of the most delicious Indian food I've had in the United States!! Their cuisine is consistently outstanding! We always try something new and have never been disappointed, but the korma, bombay, and butter chicken are stand-out favorites. Plus, they always have free chai available for their customers, which is really nice on cold winter days. We love this place and go often. Even our picky teenager loves the food.

Always a hit 🎉Garlic Nan bread, Chai tea and Chicken Tikka Massala!! LOVE meeting friends for food and connection time. Very friendly staff and no matter what you order it's always fresh.

If you are looking for some of the best Indian food in the KC area; this is the place! They have options for pretty much everyone including different proteins, vegetarian options and halal. While I love bbq, burgers and anything else meat based, I always order from their vegetarian menu. Some of their best dishes include garbanzo beans and paneer cheese. BUT, if you are new to Indian food you can always try the butter chicken. Definitely try the mango lassi and make sure to get naan....and Chai tea.

The butternut squash dish and pakora was exceptional. We tried the lunch buffet and the rest of the dishes were just okay, i thought the chicken tikka masala and butter chicken were too heavy on the cream and upset my stomach a bit. I also enjoyed the baked fish option which was a unique offering. I didn’t care for the kheer but it tasted good mixed into my their coconut soup. The staff and service was really good.

I remember when Seva first opened, it was some of the best food in Kansas City and it quickly became a regular for my family and I. Sadly I moved to Boston 5 years ago, but I still drop in for dinner or the buffet every time I make it back to KC, they never disappoint. The food is excellent, they are have always been happy to accommodate any reasonable request, and the staff is always so friendly. Seva continues to be one of my favorite places, nearly worth the trip to KC on its own.

Staff was pleasant. Lunch buffet was small in regard to having less variety available for main entrees, compared to other metro Indian style buffets. Food was in a steamer/warming table; however, it was cold or lukewarm at best.
Aunt Karen
The flavors here are always incredible! The butter chicken is the best! We come here often and the staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and patient with our little children. Clean facilities, great service and the best food! Seva has been and continues to be a favorite for years!

Oh my, I got so many brownie points with my wife for bringing her to this place. She fell in love with the food. She keeps asking when we are going back. I must admit I had no hope that I would like it but it was really good. I had the wings and my wife had the fried jalapenos for appetizers. My wings were great. But her jalapenos were to hot for me. I don't remember what we ordered but at least I took pictures of it. Mine was made with too much ginger for me but hers was really good. Both our meals were made with lamb but hers came in a red sauce w will be back and next time I will have them hold the ginger. We will be back.

This place is a dream in Indian cuisine! Prices are a bit mid tier to me but still affordable. The food is simply divine!! My friends and I ordered butter chicken, squash curry, this wonderful mouth watering fish some sort of butter curry too, wonderfully refreshing salads and a nice lamb. Dishes are paired with basmati rice which is refillable upon request. We also got garlic nan which to be honest isn't the best I've had. Outside of that though everything else we had here was great. The services is also good though could be a slight bit more attentive. You also get a nice light rice pudding at the end of the meal and hot chai is available self serve.

Best Indian buffet in KC! We searched for the prefect Indian restaurant to try upon our visit to Kansas city and I must say this place exceeded expectations. First impression: wow they're crowded. Had to wait a few seconds for a table. Then on to the buffet. Amazing! Everything was extremely fresh (I, myself saw them come out and add fresh food on three occasions). Each item was seasoned to perfection, and not too spicy. Ugh I just loved it! Ive thought about it many times since we left lol and recommended it to anyone living or visiting the area. We will DEFINITELY be returning to Seva on our next visit to KC! Thank you for a great experience.

Simple amazing food and wonderful caring people. They went out of their way to help all of our needs. The food is a wonderful blend of flavors that the midwester palet is not used to but well worth the taste bud adventure.

Seva is the best authentic Indian food in Kansas City. Hands Down! It's very clean and the family is warm and welcoming! It's a must every time I come back to Kansas City.

Just try this place - you'll love it!. Excellent flavors, perfect service, and comfortable decor. I'm from Denver and travel almost constantly; I will return to this restaurant every time I'm in the area...this restaurant is a great find!

Delish!. First time here and it was very good!

-----19 Oct, 2014-----

Squash. So yummy. Sweet and flavorful.

Fresh & Delicious. The food here is outstanding. Everything was fresh & delicious. We stopped en route to Minneapolis for the lunch buffet.

Don't be alarmed if some of the bins on the buffet are low in quantity. They come around with fresh food and will serve you at your table. This is particularly beneficial with pakora which us best served fresh as well as naan bread & Tandoori Chicken.

They had their wonderful butternut squash dish on the buffet. Butternut squash is one of my all time favorite veggies, so that was a treat for me.

They brought a complimentary mango lassi which was a nice surprise. They had coconut soup (a sweet soup) & hot chai tea. The rice pudding was some of the best I've tasted. I liked that the rice grains almost seemed chopped-up a bit.

The decor was very tasteful & the restaurant & bathroom was immaculate. Nice to see that they keep things in tip-top condition.

My husband & I go to many Indian restaurants across the country & this would have to be one of the very best we've been to.

On their menu they state that "seva" means to serve, they do just that in many ways!

OUTSTANDING!!. My new favorite in KC. Best Indian food ive had in a long time. Outstanding friendly service, great prices, a must try.

Amazing!. Both the food and staff were amazing. This is a place you must try and I guarantee you will want to return again and again!

Gluten free for lunch. I ate at Seva for lunch today and really enjoyed both the food and the experience. All of the dishes I tried were delicious, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I appreciated all the gluten free options as well! The squash dish in particular was very good. My only regret is that I didn't try any of the rice pudding.

Delightful. Read about Seva from a review in the Pitch. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the owner and staff live up to the name (Seva means to Serve). It appears to be there pleasure to have you dine there. The first time was after a Girls outing to see Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (about India)...we followed the movie with a trip to SEVA. My Mom stills raves about the pakors. My Sister loves the baked fish....I am a big fan of the Squash dish. Everytime you eat there you can expect superior service, excellent food, and a inviting atmosphere.
Mindy
Seva lunch buffet. Had the lunch buffet. Very tasty and cheap. The service was impeccable.

The chickan misalla and the thai tea was great. Lacked the variety of options as swaget. Where was the green spinach looking stuff I love that swaget and taj Mahal have. Still good place but smallest Indian buffet in between the three. Very nice employees. Will return for convenience.

I am from out of town and was very impressed with the dinner service. Food was excellent and the perfect spice level. Loved the order of crispy flat bread with the individual cups of toppings. Very pleased! I frequent an Indian restaurant in my home town and although satisfying the flavor did not match seva.

Such an inviting and wonderful place to eat. We were asked if it was our first time eating India cuisine and it was my date's first time, but not mine. The owner was so gracious and excited to share all they had to offer. We were treated to an appetizer, on the house, and checked on several times throughout our meal. The owner seemed so delighted it was my date's first time and he was so helpful. After our meal, which was AMAZING, to our surprise, we were then treated to Chai tea and dumplings, again, on the house. I am so delighted with the atmosphere and hospitality of Seva that I'm sure this will not be our last time there.

The Best Indian Food in KC. Seva is beyond good, beyond anything we have tried in KC. My wife is Indian and when she says this is the best Indian food she has tasted in KC (outside of her own kitchen) I dare not argue. The choices on the buffet are perfect, the service impeccable and the price is well below what one pays elsewhere.

Lunch Buffet. First time to visit the Seva Cuisine of India restaurant. The restaurant is very nice and clean. The tree above the buffet with peacock is a nice touch. The owner gave us a complimentary Mango milk shake. The food was very good. Would recommend Nan be added to the buffet area even though the server brought Nan to the table. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Would recommend this restaurant if you enjoy Indian cuisine.

My new favorite for Indian cuisine. We were headed to the Lemon Tree next door and got the sudden urge to try Seva. Outstanding customer service, excellent food and a relaxed atmosphere make this one of my new favorites! I have not been to another restaurant lately where they take such pride in service and personal interaction. I will definitely return and will pass along this recommendation to any and all of my friends who love Indian cuisine! Outstanding!!

Excellent Indian Restaurant. Very friendly service and some of the best food in town. Right up there with Swagat. I've tried items off the menu and their lunch buffet, both were excellent. I'm generally wary of ethnic restaurants with buffets, but this one did not disappoint. My personal favorite is the spicy bombay chicken with frenso naan.

We love Seva. One of the best restaurants in Liberty! We've been back now several times and are never disappointed. Owners are SO nice!

I went to seva last week I was padding through and iv been to many diffrent Indian restaurants around the world and I would say this one was one of ny favorites. Very good service, and amazing food. I would recommend this to everyone
Love 2 Eat
The BEST in Liberty!. Yummy! Very clean place, staff is always super friendly! The buffet is smaller than the other Indian place in Liberty but it is far superior when it comes to quality of the food and taste. We've been here several times and always leave happy and full! Love the coconut soup and the Chai tea!

Excellent !. Having lived in Singapore for six years, my wife and I are well familiar with Indian food. I have been disappointed with some Northland Indian restaurants, so was interested what Seva had to offer. We were both very impressed ! The service was good, very friendly and accommodating and the food was just like I remember in Asia. Will definitely be making it a frequent place to eat. Intending to try the lunch buffet now.
Natasha
Thank Goodness! The Northland needs good dining and this restaurant does its part! Excellent food and service. We had the Chicken Curry, Tandoori Chicken, Bread Basket and Vegetables. Oh my,,, we took food home. Will be back soon.

Excellent new place in Northland!. My wife and I went to Seva tonight and enjoyed a terrific meal by all accounts. My wife enjoyed the Chicken Kadahi and I loved the Paneer Masala. Additionally, the Vegetable Pakora was incredible. The garlic nan was tremendous and the Chai Tea was delicious. I eat Indian cuisine all the time and this, along with Chai Shai in Brookside are the two best places in town. Congratulations! Bravo! And, the owners are very nice, indeed. Thankful to have this near our home!

Buffet today, first time. I have eaten at Swaggats in Zona Rosa and Taj Mahal(I know Harry from there). I cook curry at home so I know Indian food and love it. I have to say I am impressed with Seva and the customer service. The food tastes fresh and the waiter brought us fresh bread and tandoori chicken when they were low and veggie pakoras. The cook came out and asked if there was anything they could improve on or did we have any suggestions. HOW OFTEN DOES THAT EVER HAPPEN? Uh NEVER. I am all about word of mouth and definately will recommend them watch out Harry this place was better and the service far surpassed Taj Mahal. I am going back to try the ginger lemondade none of the other two places have this drink.

Great food awesome service clean dining area or sit outside i would go back for sure

Excellent!!!. Seva is my new favorite restaurant in the northland. The Indian cuisine is top notch! I was extremely hopeful when this place opened and very glad to report it did not disappointed. I've regularly dined at the well known Indian restaurants in Overland Park and can say with certainty Seva outshines them all in quality and variety. Ive eaten at Seva about 10 times, everything I've had there has been fantastic, I personally love the vegetable korma, beef korma, chicken marsala and the lamb dishes are also great! The staff is exceptional, very friendly and inviting. If you love Indian cuisine then you NEED to try this place. If you haven't tried Indian cuisine before then Seva is a great place to expand your taste horizons.

Will go again. Today was my first visit to Seva and we got take-out. My daughter and I arrived a little early to pick up our food, so we expected to wait a few minutes. While we waited, they gave me a chai tea and gave my daughter a lassi to drink in a to-go cup. How nice!! The food we ordered was wonderful! My husband got the chicken vindaloo and I got the butter chicken. Both were very good! We also got garlic nan and Fresno nan which were also great. We will definitely be going back. Tell your friends...support this wonderful new local business.

A Great Choice. Liberty's second Indian restaurant is solid and good value. There are a few menu differences from Taj Mahal, but it still is worth a visit. They emphasize local produce and fresh flavors. Also if it is particularly windy the entire dining area was drafty. Other than those minor items, we will go back for more. Pro Tip: stop by for a to go cup of chai tea. It's about a $1 and is a perfect afternoon treat.

Best Indian Buffet in KC. I have been to three Indian restaurants that offer a lunch time buffet, two of which are located in Liberty. Taj mahal opened it's doors first, and Seva followed soon after. While Taj is cheaper by a signal bill, Seva out shines it for quality 10 to1. Seva's staff is so attentive, without being over whelming or bothersome (something the folks at Taj could learn from) As far as culinary quality it's no contest. Seva's offerings change daily on their buffet selection, but the fact that each dish will be of sound texture and flavor is steadfast! I will be going to Seva for my Indian cuisine cravings. I've been three times, and will be going back!
Jared Peek
Amazing quality!. There are two Indian restaurants in Liberty. Both are buffets during the lunch hour, and offer many of the same dishes. The difference? Well, the quality, for one. While the first of Liberty's Indian restaurants (Taj mahal) is cheaper, you are getting what you pay for. Often their sauces are oily, and meals lack flavor. Where as Seva's buffet is never lacking in flavor, and the foods up for offer are of wondrous quality. The offerings are always on the fresh side, even as it edges toward the dinner hour. (at 2:30 they close to switch over to dinner) I love Seva, and will be going back for more!

So happy to have Indian food in Liberty area!. We lived in Bangalore, India, and this restaurant makes our family feel like we are back in India! The restaurant is family-run, and they will treat you like family, too!

My kids love their yellow dal, and we also got the chicken tikka masala (medium spices). We went back a few days later, to sample the buffet (they do this every day, at lunch), and it was all delicious!!

I am so happy to have kheer again, the coconut soup is to DIE for, and we will visit all the time, even if it is just for a takeaway mango lassi!!

Please support this restaurant, so they will be around for a long time!

Happy eating!
Nassim Marie Dunkin
Amazing!. Thank you to AKfoodie for recommending this wonderful place! They have the best tiki masala! The mango-yogurt drink was delish. Very nice owners! I am hooked!
Akfoodie
Yum!. Ordered for takeout, was very good. Went safe the first time and got the chicken tikka masala. It was great! Nice big pieces of chicken too. I appreciated that they asked me the spice level I wanted. I got it medium which was perfect. Just a slight amount of heat. So not every Indian restaurant will scar you with heat. I got an order of the garlic nan. I think next time I would just get the regular nan. It was covered in garlic, it was good to dip in the sauce but that garlic was just a little too much even for me! I definitely want to try the Tandoor specialties and the Biryani specialties. They have quite an extensive menu. Vegetable, chicken, lamb, and seafood specialties. I would recommend it!

I've been back a few times now, and it keeps getting better. Their lunch buffet is fantastic! You almost don't even have to get up to go back to the buffet, they bring different dishes around to your table. My favorite dish is the Biryani. It is so amazing and delicious. You have to try this place. Also, the people are sooooo friendly and nice.

Good Indian Cuisine in North Kansas City.. We had heard about this Indian restaurant from one of our friends. The place is in Liberty, nice ambiance, the staff are excellent, they make sure that the patrons are well looked after. The food is delicious, serving size are ample , price are reasonable. I would definitely recommend this new place for everyone who is looking for a good Indian cuisine in The North Kansas City area.
Melissa Whitaker Jacobs
Have visited twice in less than two weeks and have not been disappointed. One of my children has now proclaimed Indian Cuisine his new favorite food.

Seva Indian Cuisine - A+. Looks like they just opened this week, the food was very good and the staff waited on us hand and foot.

The paper menu we took with us indicates they are very willing to accomodate restrictive diets (onions, spices, etc) which is probably going to be a hit with people who love traditional indian recipes but just can't eat what they used to.

If you're currently a fan of indian food over in Zona Rosa, you will be pleased to find the same great food and perhaps some familiar faces in the dining area and kitchen. It's wonderful to finally have an Indian cuisine option this good in the NE corner of town.
