Review Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates - Kansas City

Randomly walked past and decided to go in, chocolates were amazing and service was great. Got a box of eight, a mix between what they said were the most popular, and some that sounded interesting, like rosemary. None of them disappointed, all of them made me want to go back and get more.

YUM! So decadent, they are all little treats for your taste buds. They have different forms of chocolate, including bars and liquid form! The boxes make great presents, and there are premade boxes if you don’t want the burden of choice. They are all so beautiful as well!

Have you ever looked at chocolate and thought it was almost TOO beautiful to eat? If you have…then it must have been a sweet chocolate treat from Christopher Elbow Chocolates. My chocolate choices: Fleur De Sel (buttery caramel infused with gray french sea salt), Fresh Lemon (lemon marmalade and lemon infused white chocolate ganache), Champagne (milk chocolate ganache infused with French champagne & coated in dark chocolate with a dusting of powdered sugar. Each of the chocolates are shiny & beautifully crafted. You can purchase individual chocolates and sets. Visit Christopher Elbow Chocolates in the Crossroads area of KC today!

If you want to talk impress someone with a box of chocolates, Christopher Elbow is *the* premier place to buy chocolates that is located in the south side of downtown Kansas City. Their largest box of chocolates will run you $100 and a small box of four will run about $13. They also sell other delicious chocolate themed items like candy bars that are high in Cocoa and hot cocoa powder. The store itself is charming, very colorful, basic, and inviting. About half of the store is reserved for some seating and restrooms for the guests. It is hard not to get a good feeling when you walk into this well appointed storefront. The gentleman behind of the counter was very helpful and kind in finding just what we were looking for. Like the chocolates, there's definitely a lot of thought that went into creating a storefront and lounge area to make it very lovely and inviting. Their boxes and gift wrapping are also top notch. If you happen to stop in here to buy chocolates, go another two and a half blocks and visit Messenger coffee house. I've included some pictures of the chocolates that are available. If you found this review helpful please give it a thumbs up. Thank you so much!

I’m from Kansas City but live in Florida now and it’s so nice to be able to order and receive the chocolates with no melting whatsoever. They package them so regardless of the weather my chocolates are fresh.

Best chocolate you’ll have. We’ve purchased Elbow chocolates before but never from their actual storefront. The staff were warm, inviting, and helpful. The options were overwhelming but we chose a box of six and two of the premade winter boxes. Their chocolate covered almonds are to die for. Definitely come here for a stop if you’re in the area, it’s so worth it!

This place is heaven, I normally don't leave reviews unless I'm overly impressed. I was here yesterday and was overly impressed by the customer service, the cleanliness of the store. The chocolates displayed in perfect symmetry looked just perfect, so beautifully crafted, and the taste. Definitely made with love, I will surely be going back for more and refer the business to my friends.

One of my clients brought me the 48 count box as a gift. These chocolates were so beautiful and unique that I couldn't bring myself to destroying one by eating it for the first day. By the second day, I couldn't resist and ate four or five. On the third day, I am ashamed to say that I finished off the entire box. The flavors were so decadent and also unique. I especially loved the raspberry ganache and the aztec spice. If you want to impress someone who loves chocolates, this is the place to buy them. I highly recommend based on appearance and taste.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the square truffles, but the fall-fillings are truly masterful! Such unique flavors!!! I didn’t get plain chocolate, so it’s hard for me to compare the other chocolate shops in the area (which you should visit too), but I highly recommend the fall truffles!!!!! Get them before they are gone!!!

Picked up their new peanut butter cups to bring to my hometown friends. The cashier was super friendly and kind. She offered my wife and me a couple of dark peanut butter cup samples for the road and that was thoughtful. My wife said the samples were heavenly. I'll have to return to pick up a box for myself now!

Excellent! The pictures don't capture how beautiful the chocolates are, they really make art out of each and every piece! The customer service is warm and welcoming. All together a great experience.

Their dark hot chocolate is amazing. My go-to place for hot chocolate.

Gorgeous little confectionery masterpieces. My fiance brought me here to choose a box of these artful creations. What a decadent and thoughtful treat. Thank you, Tyler! 😘

The artistry and creativity is amazing! I love the colors and uniqueness Christopher Elbow offers. While showing properties in downtown KC I popped in to check out what is new. They have adorable Easter box sets (see photos). I have given these chocolates as gifts to clients, friends and family for a long time and they never disappoint. They have gluten and dairy free options, but they still contain soy. Go check out all the new offerings! #kansascity #realtor #realestate #chocolates #kclocal #kcmo #kc #visitkc #art #love #realtorlife

These little works of art are SO delicious!! Located in the arts district of KC it's a must to stop in when exploring the area. So many unique flavors to pick from and the employees are friendly and knowledgeable about the processes of creating these gems. They even let me sample one of the flavors that I was interested in. Makes a perfect gift for loved ones!

Parisian quality chocolates in Kansas City. Their fruit bonbons are intensely fruity and moderately sweet not overly sweet. I don’t usually enjoy white chocolate but their seasonal raspberry caramel is one of the best. My other favorites are the rosemary, lavender, fleur de sel, and banana foster bonbons and the dark chocolate fleur de sel pecan caramels. Their KC storefront is nice for fresh chocolates with little to no packaging. I’ve since moved to Los Angeles but still love ordering and trying their new seasonal collections every year.

Fancy quality chocolates. If you get them as a gift for someone then you may end up eating all the chocolates yourself and have to buy more. The interior is very modern with seating to immediately try your purchases. The temperature is a little on the cool side to prevent the chocolates from melting. They also have candied fruit, chocolate bars of many varieties, and chocolate gift combinations. Sometimes you can see the chocolate makers building or packaging the chocolate creations in the factory.

This is not the easiest place to find, but it is so worth your time to look for it. This chocolate is so smooth and flavorful. You actually want to savor every bite. It's not cheap, but quality never is.

Disappointing chocolates.. After reading all of the glowing reviews I bought a box of 21 chocolates. In a 4 star review system I'd give these a 2.5 to 3 stars. Good, not great. Some people will gush and rave over anything chocolate without being critical, however I've had better and was a bit disappointed. Certainly these have a visual appeal but overall there was a lack of variety in the chocolate - the same dark chocolate ganache was used over and over, I'd like to have seen some milk chocolate, and the caramel fillings were not cooked enough, essentially being too runny in the soft crack stage and not exhibiting much of a caramel flavor. The flavors in some of the chocolates were almost nonexistent or too subtle (tea earl grey, Venezuelan spice, coffee) and others like the rosemary were just nasty. Rosemary is a very strong herb that can really overpower and is a poor paring with chocolate in my opinion. The Stawberry balsamic was also bad, tasting mostly like vinegar with only a hint of strawberry and caramel. The Vanilla bean tasted more like vanilla pudding than real vanilla. The lavender had a strange bitter aftertaste. There were a few gems - the pear, lime cardamom, whiskey aged maple, and caramel apple were all very good. Overall these were interesting but seemed to lack a fine attention to detail in the flavorings.

On par with the other masters. I have been to Belgium, I have been to France, I have been to New York, I have been to San Francisco, and this place is still the best. Pierre Marcolini is exquisite, Jacques Torres is divine, and so is Christopher Elbow. If you love chocolate, and even if you know chocolate, you will still be impressed. I love the herb-infused truffles, especially, but they are really all so good. I have yet to sample one that is sub-par.

Beautiful, fun, and delicious. My husband and I had a wonderful little time visiting this chocolate shop. We're taking our three-year-old there for her birthday tomorrow, and I'm sure she will be thrilled at her special treat.

I have wanted to try the chocolate ever since I tried the ice cream (which is TO DIE FOR) this summer. Today was the day, I decided, and I finally took my rear end down to Christopher Elbow. When I arrived, I was immediately put off by the woman behind the counter, who was very rude. Nonetheless, I bought several individual chocolates and two turtles. So far, the rosemary caramel has been my favorite - such a unique and intriguing flavor combination. I didn't care for the passion fruit caramel at all, and the champagne was just ok. I am looking forward to tasting the balsamic caramel tomorrow, along with the spiced pear : )). The turtle was good, though not nearly as exciting as the other selections. I wish I had gotten the drinking chocolate instead. Overall, it was worth the experience, but I will probably not purchase again. I would be much more inclined to go back to Glacee instead.

ELBOWRIFFIC. I stop for mouthwatering delights whenever possible. The chocolate beverages rival anything I've had Italy & I never had chocolate this good in Belgium. BTW, Rachel is a font of info.

YUM-O!. Just thinking about this place makes me salivate. The hot coffee/chocolate drinks are a delightful treat in the winter, but the chocolates are great. I wasn't impressed with the candies that were being pushed by the sales people including an uninspired lemon-flavored concoction, but some are flat out amazing. The cinnamon chocolates are outstanding and my next-favorite standout is the peanut butter and coconut. Definitely some well-crafted and beautiful creations.

Ultimate Chocolate. Saw this Artisanal Chocolatier in a national publication yet never visited. This last week I did, what a treat, I have turtles this good, this close and I missed them. I will be back for the chocolate turtles. They are the best; they are fresh; an absolute treasure! Have to try more of the exotic flavors. Looking forward to a nice long chocolate season!!!!

I don't know how chocolates could be better. Truely "Artisnal Chocolates" now, what's not to love?!

Wow, just wow!. For those who enjoy a more sophisticated chocolate this is your nirvana. When there is any sort of chill in the air stop buy for some drinking chococlate. It is a little thicker than the typical cup of Swiss Miss but you can immediately taste what you have been missing. Handmade marshmallows top off the festival. I brought a thermos and got several cups to go as a surprise for my wife's birthday. It certainly can be leisurely enjoyed over the course of an afternoon.

The only down side is the relatively early closing time of 6pm. It would be the perfect place to end an evening.

The chocolates are almost too good to eat, but they will eventually disappear. Be sure to hide them if you want to enjoy them on your own schedule.

As a side note, be sure to visit the bathroom. The fixtures are just another sign of the attention to detail with every aspect of this enterprise.

Willie Wonka would be so jealous.. Overwhelm your chocolate cravings. The shop is modern very clean and you can sample many of the flavors while watching the production. From the fantastic turtles to great liquid chocolates its a must see and taste for Kansas City. Each chocolate is a work of art to the eye and the taste buds.
Clean Classy and Deliciously Fun !

A trip to Christopher Elbow is always fun, with hundreds of chocolates beautifully displayed, just begging to go home with you. The addition of a hot chocolate bar and ice cream makes it even more tempting! On this trip, I got a pint of the Sweet Corn and a pint of the Chocolate Venezuelan Spice. Em got a pint of Creme Fraiche and a pint of Fleur de Sel Caramel, one of my favorites from the first trip.

Food & Wine magazine gave the #1 ranking of their top 10 Chocolates to Christopher Elbow for the No. 6 Dark.

Well, last summer I got hooked on snow cones . Really hooked. Then, about a month after the snow cone season ended, when the weather had finally began to get chilly and I was just about ready for a new obsession, I was reminded of Christopher Elbow Drinki
