This is the only place I will go to eat in Kalona. The food is always great and reasonably priced. The chicken sandwiches that they had for the RAGBRI crowd were delicious!! The wait staff and bartenders are very friendly. I will be back soon!!!

I think The Hard Luck Cafe' is fantastic!!! The food is excellent, you never have to wait for a drink, and the bartender Casey is always very pleasant! A great experience!

Good choice in Kalona for pub style burgers, hot sandwiches, and dinners. Spirits and domestic beers are available. My favorites are the bacon cheese burger or grilled pork tenderloin with a side of cottage fries. Prices and food are very good. Portions are generous. You will not go away hungry. Dinner service only so find another spot for lunch. Service can be spotty at times but still a solid place to stop and eat! Calling in an order is a frustrating adventure in the best of times.

Stopped here for a few drinks while in Kalona. The place was not obviously marked as a bar but the drinks were strong and good. Service was quick and everyone was very friendly. Will definitely stop her again if I’m ever in the area.

Good food, good service. I didn't even know the place was a Cafe for the longest time! Needs better sineage!

I'm a big fan of their Asian Sriracha wings and they have Hamm's on tap. They are cash only but have an atm. It's good bar food and last I knew they stay open till close every night but I wished the kitchen didn't close at 10.
