It has been a lot of years. Probably 30 or more since I've been there. The atmosphere was just the same. The hot dogs tasted very much like all those years ago. I was delighted to see that and taste that.
Chicago dog was made well. Chili Cheese fries had just the right amount on top. Wasn’t over pricey. Would recommend people to go here.
HAPPY DOGS!!!! The BEST hot dogs made. Wow they just have that special flavor in their chili. Been going here since I was a kid. Every time I land back in kzoo this is a MUST go for me. Hot dog fan or not you gotta love Coney Island. Over 100 years and still going in the SAME location. Put this on your list of DO IT FOR THE DOGS!!!!
The first time here so I decided I would try three different types of dogs they have.
First off was the New York style hot dog, piled high with surprisingly good sauerkraut. I've never tried sauerkraut on a hot dog before, and if I come back to Coney Island I'm definitely having another one.
Second what's the Chicago style dog, with a healthy portion of toppings that makes the hot dogs in Chicago look tiny :-) you earned a gold star on this one for sure.
And lastly, is their namesake Coney Dog. I know a lot of people love this, but I was not a fan. To me it tasted like the beef that they had on top they had boiled and water when they cooked it to help it crumble, then they forgot to add seasoning... I think it would have been better off just as a plain hot dog, the extra meat really seemed like it had no flavor to me. And if I go back for another New York style dog, yes I will try another Coney Dog to see if my first one was just a fluke or if that's how it really is.
Chicago dog was great, lots of toppings. Chili cheese fries left something to be desired. Will probably stick with plain or cheese fries in the future
Used to come here with my grandparents when I was a kid. I Took my daughter first time in there in probably 20 years. The place hasn't changed a bit. Hot dog was great. This place is a gem
Cool old space downtown. Not gonna say they're the best hot dogs ever, but they're good, and the cheese fries are good, and the cheeseburger is good, and the staff has a sense of humor. Overall it's a nice experience.
A fun little restaurant with lots of charm! The food was ready pretty quickly and the staff was polite! I enjoyed my experience and would visit again.
I have traveled the world and lived in NYC. This is still the best coney dog I’ve ever eaten. Their Chicago dogs are spot on, too. Family owned for almost a century; been eating these dogs for 54 years now. I try coneys everywhere I go but have never found a better one. You will not be disappointed.
First time going and loved everything about it. Nice old building, the menu was simple but still had to figure out what to get. The food was great. Will definitely go back.
