1188 Brewing Company

It wasn't perfect, but it was a bit of a surprise for John Day. I don't have low expectations of John Day at all, I like it here a lot, but it was just not what I expected. I had a french dip, and aside from being too salty (they always are), it was really good. The salmon chowder was good. The only complaint was about the tacos, which had too small of tortillas to hold what was in them, which is kind of a "my wallet is too small for all my money" kind of problem. Service was good and friendly, as well. Definitely a place to go back to.

Always great. Staff seems to be always on their game, keeping drinks grand and what not, and the kitchen does a good job with classic foods and their own creations. I reccomend getting a Popper or a few Poppers off of the appetizer menu. I think Its great that there's a place like this in John Day/Grant County with the authentic brewpub feeling usually found in Bend, with good that could easily hang with some of the best Brewpubs in the PacNW

Great beer, great food, great attitude. I was impressed by the quality and depth of beer styles at this joint. A Dortmunder, an Altbier, a gose, a big ol' stout...all nice. I had the french dip for dinner and biscuits and gravy the following morning. All good. And the staff openly and actively supporting COVID mask and distancing requirements without blaming the Governor. I like this place a lot.
