The Wayside Inn

Food was ridiculous good. Old school supper club style, but not one you need to dress up for. Lots of drink selections including wines and seltzers, and our waitress was also very sweet. We both agreed we would go again. The only reason it's 4 out of 5 stars is it is unfortunately cash only but that is what you get some times out here. Highly recommend.

This whole restaurant kind of has a stink. The whole place smelt like a garbage can full of fish sitting out under the sun. On top of that, there's an even stronger musty odor that sort of just smells like an old basement. Looking around the place, you can tell that it NEVER gets a good, deep cleaning. There are stains and spots and dust and filth everywhere, and every window sill has dead flies just laying there with their feet pointed up. Every last big of food they served to us was lukewarm at best. Especially the coffee I asked for which was served practicality cold. The tables are all very close to each other as the place is very small, so there is no social distancing, and there were no masks to be seen, but even by the wait staff, one of whom, who was serving the table next to us, even boasted that she had not taken the vaccine, and would not be doing so. I did not like this place. Everything felt old, neglected dirty, and gross. Go somewhere else!

My favorite little supper club in southern Wisconsin! The picture below shows the super cut prime rib which you can get for $24.50 on Saturday nights. King cut is $19.00. You get the whole relish tray and warm bread with each dinner, as well as soup or salad. I very much enjoy their fish options - try it blackened, and you can add a few hand breaded, nice size shrimp on the side for $5. The service is always friendly, so join them for a tasty and affordable dinner. BRING CASH - no cards.

Had not been here in 20 years, tried again on a Friday. Burgers unevenly cooked, half medium well, half rare. Fish under cooked and mushy inside, wife was sick all night. Staff was great, so will give 2 stars for that. Place looks packed most nights so some people must love going here for some reason that I do not understand, but I will not be going back.
