Elijah's Cafe

Oasis! That's the nickname I gave this place. In a town with very, very few options aside from the usual food chain fast food and fried chicken mom and pops, this restaurant offers a clean and delicious variety of meals, coffee and free homemade buns. No breakfast, and that’s a shame, but the buns, fresh coffee, the burgers and great atmosphere makes up for it. Many other culinary options will make you smile, definitely a town's favorite.

We were traveling in the area and stopped in for an early dinner. The staff and service were excellent, checking on us throughout. The food was so good, quite like one would make at home. Our dinners were served quickly and hot which made it even more enjoyable. I highly recommend the catfish and my cousin said the shrimp were cooked perfectly. We will definitely go back on the next trip to East Texas!

If I could give zero Stars I definitely would. But I am at least giving them one star because I have eaten there and the food there is good. Reason for the bad review is the last three times that we went there, there was a handful of tables couldn't be more than six, we were not greeted had to stand up front and wait for several minutes, although different staff members came up to the front and did things at the register. Tonight when we got seated, they did bring us a booster for the child that we had with us. But then nobody came and took our drink order as we sat there for well more than 5 minutes. The waiter finally came and checked on the table behind us but never greeted us or told us that somebody would be with us in a moment. The people behind us said it was a worse service that ever had there. They had plenty of staff members on site and four tables when we walked in. I always try to give them a chance since we like their home cooking. But this will be the last time we ever frequent their establishment because their staff is horrendous. Sad to see that management cannot do a better job in training their staff.

Even for the weekend this place was delicious! Home style dishes with hearty helpings. Great flavor and texture. I had the pot roast, greens, squash. Wife had parmesan chicken with spaghetti. Wife and kids love the bread pudding. Service was also great. Not from the area, but if we are ever in that neck of the woods, we will most definitely be eating their again. Also there is a declaration as you are walking through the door for God to bless anyone who enters there. And i recieve it in the name of Jesus!
