Sashimi is always excellent, cold and nice portions. The clear soup though is not clear and their is weird things in it besides mushrooms. Tastes like heavy beef stock. The ponzu sauce for the special maki is supposed to be citrusy and clear not brown and chunky. Other than delivered 30 minutes after their stated time I would recommend except for the above listed issues.

The sushi chef always makes us a beautiful plate of sushi and uses his artistic skill to make it extra pretty, which is a huge plus for me. last time we were there he gave us a little appetizer on the house! The restaurant is small but the agedashi tofu we had was probably the best I have ever had and it's one of my favorite foods! The prices are REALLY great, like some of the rolls are half the price of kan ki down the street, the quality is just as good or better.
I love sushi, moving from the west coast to the south makes me really miss the great food, especially the great cheap sushi, but this place makes me feel like I'm back home for 45 minutes. Little places like this are my fav, and sushi house is definitely the only place I'll be getting sushi in Jacksonville!
Yum-Yum Sauce!. I've lived in Jax now for almost two years and haven't been able to find a good Chinese food place. I love the Japanese Steakhouses but they are too expensive to eat at all the time. I've seen this place before while driving down San Jose, but thought it looked junky because of the lot it's in. I placed a "to go" order yesterday 8/26/14 for a cali roll, shrimp tempura roll, chicken fried rice, and the banana dessert thingy. Everything was awesome! My son (9 years old) and I shared the food and there was plenty of rice left over. This makes me happy because now I can have it for lunch too! Try this place... very good, and the people were super nice when I picked it up.
EXCELLENT!. I am extremely pleased with my order from Sushi House. I ordered the clear soup, veggie spring rolls, vegetable udon and the Baymeadows roll. First of all, they told me it would be 45 minutes but it was actually more like 25 minutes, and the delivery employee was polite. Now, to the food!!! Everything was delicious and flavorful. The sushi didn't have a fishy taste and it was so fresh. The udon was piping hot and had lots of fresh veggies in it. The veggie spring rolls were crispy and came with a really tasty sauce. Also, the price wasn't ridiculously high either. I will definitely be ordering from Sushi House again. Yum!
Friendly service nice atmosphere and very good sushi
Good Food, Scary Man.. I ordered from Sushi House for delivery. The delivery was prompt, and the food was delicious. However, I was sitting in bed and all of a sudden I hear pounding fists on my front door. It scared me, really...bad...it never stopped until I opened the door. The man handed me the bag and I set it down and he said I had to sign something, but he was muttering, I didn't know what he wanted me to do. Apparently what I had to sign was attached to the bag, so I tore it off after he impatiently grunted to me what I was supposed to do. I signed it and put $3.00 for the tip, but when I turned back, I had a wad of ones in my hand. I gave him the pen and paper, and I was so shaken and nervous that I just handed him all of the money because I was too nervous to separate the bills. So that was more like a $4-6 tip. OH WELL, the food is GREAT as long as you're not easily shaken by scary men pounding on your door and creeping out from the darkness.

Anyone who doesnt like this restaurant is crazy. My husband is a vegetarian, believe it or not, it's difficult to find good tasting vegetable sushi/hibachi. We went on mothers day and ordered a sushi roll each, vegetable hibachi (with rice and noodles) chicken teriyaki. It came with salad, soup, appetizer, and dessert. We only spent $37 for everything including drinks and we each have a to go box full. Lovely restaurant on the inside, friendly and family owned. They gave flowers to every family that brought their mother in to dine. Just the little things that make you want to spend your hard earned money there. This is our new sushi spot.

Sushi Paradise (This IS Not A Joke). I'm from northwest Indiana and have been to plenty of sushi restaurants in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. I can honestly and whole-heartedly say that this is hands down, the most authentic sushi that I have ever had the privilege to enjoy. Now on to the ingredients; the veggies were as crisp as when they were picked, the fish and its shelled brethren were as fresh as anyone would or could ever hope for, the rice cooked to soft and sticky perfection and the nori, which at most places seems to be a necessary evil due to it's curious flavor profile, was an almost completely new experience.
Now on to the service. I, personally, can not enjoy a dining experience if the service doesn't match the quality of the food that is being served, so it is a very, very good thing that the service was more than accommodating and was more than willing and capable to field any question sent their way.
I don't know if it is commonplace, but after having placed my girlfriends and my drink orders, before having placed our dinner orders, our waitress brought out a free appetizer, then after we had finished eating and our leftovers had been packed up we were brought an amazing japanese desert that neither of us had ever tasted or even heard of prior to that moment.
Make this a stop whenever you find yourself sushi hungry in Jacksonville Florida. Even if you aren't a giant sushi fan, then the "Sushi House" will help you see the light.
Apparently, it is also a Japanese steakhouse, but who cares when you can get sushi that is of this quality.
Great!. I've been visiting this Sushi House for almost 4 years now. The best thing about this place is the wait staff who recognize me with every visit I make and personally greet me when I walk in. The food has never let me down, prices are decent, and the atmosphere is simple and not over done.

The food is top notch, Sushi san can make some mean rolls and great cuts of fish. The spot where you eat is just so so, the music is normally something I'm guessing is being listen to by the nice and helpful young lady who seats people. It was funny to hear her kind of sing some of it, just wasn't appropriate for my dining. Even though it's a moderately clean restaurant, the lighting gives it a dirty appearance. The food though is hands down better than the sushi from the other local sushi / Japanese steakhouse restaurants.
Amazing Katsu chicken. Great stir fry and appetizers were amazing! Sushi was fresh, exactly what I ordered and the staff went out of their way to ensure we, as customers, were completely satisfied. This restaurant knows how to make happy the customer and do so in a professional way while keeping true to their cultural ways with food.
We had a great experience! All the sushi rolls were great. Waitress was very friendly and even changed the TV so my husband could watch drag racing. Couldn't believe we had the place to ourselves. Will definitely come back!

Sad to see some very harsh 1 star reviews here - reminds me of the type of people I absolutely hated when i was a server, some people can't be pleased... oh well, their loss :)
Our family has been going to this Sushi House on San Jose for several years, probably 3-4 times each year. We have never been disappointed during a visit, and the service staff have always been pleasant. The sushi has always been fresh and never soggy during the times we have stopped there for lunches or dinner.

Sushi house is amazing!! I have gone the last three days in a row because I had to make sure it wasn't a one time thing. I ate here on one other occasion and I must say there is a big difference. The service was fantastic, everytime I needed something i didn't even have to ask my waitress knew exactly what I wanted, she was very nice and treated all of the customers the same. She recommended some delicious and rolls that I never would have tried. I wrote down everything I ate thoughout my three day experience. The rolls I got were the red dragon roll, Moon roll, rock n roll, manhattan roll, dynamite, and the baymeadows. I also got a miso soup, crab ragoons, spring rolls, chicken udon, edamame, the tuna avacoda salad and the speacial make appetizer which looked just as amazing as it tasted. I was even allowed to make a custom roll. I enjoyed everything I ate here, I've been looking for a good sushi place and I found it. And they deliver!!! This is a small restaurant but is simply amazing; I will certainly be back. :)
You really can't beat the value you get for your dollar here. I've liked every roll I've tried and the size of all the rolls was bigger than I was expecting. I've paid way more for less at other places in the Mandarin area. I highly recommend this place for good sushi!
I've consistently had good service and great sushi at the Sushi House. Not only is the food good, they generally throw in a free pallet cleanser orange and sometimes a free appetizer when you dine in.
Get past the outside decor. It's a great family restaurant. I've had sushi around the world and it's a good family restaurant. The food is good and the prices are better. I recommend it and will come back again.
Great food. Our usual sushi place was too busy and we tried this place. It's our new favorite. Fresh and delicious with reasonable prices.
