Review Fox Restaurant - Jacksonville

Not a bad little diner. Food is VERY basic. Nothing special that makes it sick out. The atmosphere was great though. All the servers and the manager were very upbeat. Very small, quaint place. The interior could use an update, but that's just my opinion šŸ˜€

First time in and I will say it's awesome. I loved the old school dinner vibe, the menu is absolutely huge, and alot of amazing food combinations. The service was excellent, boss took us all to lunch and it's definitely a place we will be coming back to.

Arrived right after 7am and was greeted with smiles and cheerful banter from the kitchen staff. Grabbed a seat by the window on a chilly winter morning to observe the world whizzing by while I enjoyed a hot cup of coffee in the perfect diner mug. Quick appearance of food and attentive service made this a memorable Tuesday morning. And thank you to Ellen, my server...always a cheer to meet a fellow Ellen. Not that many of us. We are the good ones. :-)

This isnā€™t our first time but it has been over a year. We arrived around 12:30 (Sunday) and got lucky and didnā€™t have to wait. Ellen greeted us and got our drink orders while we looked over the menus. We ordered and didnā€™t have to wait long for our food. Our complaints: friendly staff, really attentive, too much bacon, food was cooked perfectly, really cool and fun decor. I got bacon cheeseburger with provolone and fries with side of ranch. My boyfriend got the French toast breakfast with cheesy eggs, too much bacon lol, cheesy grits. We took the extra bacon home to our pup. *We donā€™t expect staff to be perfect and have a smile on their face at all times. They are humans working a hard job dealing with entitled ppl.

Great spot for a tasty honest breakfast šŸ³ or lunch šŸ„Ŗ. Today I had the Nam burger and it was great, with chorizo and an egg. My wife had and loved the Mediterranean salad with added chicken and bacon. The romaine lettuce was fresh and crispy and she thoroughly enjoyed it. We both had a cup of chili which was good (not amazing but good). The service was great and the staff were working really well together. The place itself has a great home feel and hippie vintage feel and ambiance which works well for the neighborhood. We love the Fox and we return every time we are in the area.

My favorite breakfast spot in Avondale maybe Jax. Chris will get your food prepared to perfect at turbo speed! Bring a friend or bring the family. And if you come alone sit at the counter and enjoy the camaraderie of the staff!!! The Fox Restaurant, yaas!

Fox Restaurant is a diner style with a typical diner menu. When we arrived, there was a line halfway down the block. They had a friendly employee checking in with the crowd and seating people as soon as a spot opened up. The line moved fairly quickly. The food was excellent and came out fast. They checked on us several times to make sure everything was okay, to ask if we needed anything else, and to refresh our drinks. Great food, great service, friendly staff.

A lovely breakfast experience. The establishment exudes personality while the wait staff are friendly and quick to respond to customers. The food was satisfying and the coffee was excellent. I'd recommend checking this place out for the atmosphere alone. I will be coming back to check out the rest of their menu.

This place is truly exceptional. What a treat. It has all the components that everyone else forces upon their establishment, but itā€™s genuine. Large portions, simple dishes, perfectly crafted, and service that is a lost art. This type of restaurant is on the extremely endangered list. I truly hope they continue to thrive.

Home Style Good Cooking and Service. Reasonable. Nice portions. Small town atmosphere. Served nice and hot. Have not seen a place like it in Jacksonville. Enjoy.

We came here by accident and it was great. From the outside this place looked not interesting at all, but once we were inside it was just like a 50ā€˜s diner. And the food was very good. We had the tuna melt and the reuben classic sandwich. Both were fantastic and reasonably prived. And the waitress was very attentive.

I love going here! One of the best places to grab breakfast on this side of town!

Great staff, so many places can't pull off making a good corned beef hash (probably because they usually get it from a can and can't cook the beef AND potatoes just right), but this place did it well. The walls are littered with nostalgic memorabilia from times past; great spot!

I ate a long breakfast at the Fox Restaurant today. I ordered the Dusty Hill omelette with fruit and a biscuit and it was delicious. The service was fast and the coffee kept coming. I had a working meeting and the staff didnā€™t try to rush us out, which was very appreciative. Iā€™ll definitely be back!

What can I say! For as long as I've lived on the westside this is usually my go-to breakfast spot. EVERYTHING I've ordered has been excellent, from breakfast to lunch. Servers are attentive and engaging, including management, and the decor is whimsical and inviting every damn time. Get there early or on a weekday to get a seat. Worth the wait. Today I had one of the best chicken fried steaks in sandwich form asked for brown gravy and crispy little fries. Perfect. The patty was crisp yet super tender on the inside. Buns perfectly toasted and my glass was kept full the whole time. Tip your servers well, they work hard to make sure your dining experience is top notch. Kudos to keeping the quality up for years. Update: Still one of the friendliest, best value diners in town. Breakfast and lunch offerings are all made to order. Hungry? Try one of the dinner platters with sides, like the meatloaf or country fried steak. Their sausage gravy is one of the best around.

The food is simply amazing. Iā€™ve eaten at every restaurant in Avondale and the Fox is my favorite. You wonā€™t find a better breakfast or lunch. The staff are attentive and hard working. Did I mention how great the food is? Amazing!

It was an absolute happenstance that brought myself and my wife here . What we found was basic food done to perfection. This place is no perfection, but becomes it.. You may disagree, high five me, or say meh... but it has a great staff, the a cook crew that does the most simple dishes in a manner of perfection. ( I literally had the best biscuit ever! The grits were superb.. and I had no expectations as to any other than I hope that the food "does not suck" the rest was better..). I hope to find myself in this part of town again... and explore the menu more thoroughly... (Kool vibe, even for an old guy..) A gem... that deserves to be experienced by an open mind and a hearty pallet.

Everytime I passed by I saw a long wait line in front of this store so it catch my attention and finally I get to tried it! They are a super busy breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant. Lots of selection on the menu. Servers are friendly and their corn beef hash is the BEST EVER!!!!! Ever since I found out this place I am no longer going Cracker on Beach or little sheep on the west side. This is my favorite brunch place!! You will not regret it(of course you have to order the right thing)! Will be back!!!

This quaint little bistro delivers big on the food. If you love some no nonsense good eating then this is the place. Flavorful, generously sized portions, and fast service. Our server, Alex, was sensational! Never had to ask for a drink refill. She knew the menu backwards and forwards. Made recommendations based on our current taste wants and made suggested adding to really complete the flavor we were going for. We will be requesting to sit in her section next time we are in. The owner was busily helping out in all aspects of the restaurant. You could see him sitting customers, bringing out food, checking on customer feedback, and just being a genuinely good guy. When you come to eat here itā€™s like coming home. We really cannot express enough the amount of joy we had in our visit. We are happy to have found a new favorite in the Riverside area.

This is a real diner with real diner food. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which are not ordinary. They are served with bacon, bleu cheese and a yummy sauce. Also ordered the bacon egg and cheese biscuit with a side of sausage gravy. I could have eaten the gravy like a bowl of soup, it was so good with huge chunks of sausage in it...the biscuit was a soft delightful cloud of yumminess. And loaded with bacon and egg and cheese. Will return!

A sign of a gd restaurant is there is a queue outside. We tried on Saturday and it had a line of people to get in, so we went for 8am Sunday. gd food, well priced, staff friendly but not over the top. Itā€™s where the locals eat, which is always a gd sign. Love the decor, and a great setting to have gd conversations. Looked like it closed Sunday afternoons, which I thought was great for the staff. Iā€™m here for a couple of weeks, so will be back and try other things on the menu!

We love the Fox. Any place that cares enough to have a special batter for waffles (versus just using pancake batter) is solid! Itā€™s my go to spot 1-2 times a week.

This is my favorite breakfast joint in Jax. Everyone that works here is so friendly, and most of them have been here for years! The atmosphere is great, and the food is even better.

The Fox is our favorite and we had a wonderful meal, with our friends. I highly recommend the steak omelette. It's the best.

Hands down the best Diner in Jacksonville. I am working my way down the menu and so far everything is perfect . We go out of our way to eat there .

The fox is a Jacksonville original and everything on the menu is amazing - they even have fried green tomatoes - why hasn't this been on Diners and Drive thrus ?!? Favorite place in jax and if you haven't been it's worth the typical line you will find - just plan on it and enjoy the wait - they have coffee outside #avondale ---> The Fox is also Beeb's favorite all time restaurant anywhere

One of our favorite places to eat in JAX area. Hamburgers, BLTā€™s, club sandwiches... everything is delicious! A real diner.

The food was okay. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. The service was ok. The waitress acted like she didn't want to be there. Maybe she was having a bad day (I still tipped). The atmosphere was fantastic. All in all, I'll stick with Metro Diner. Either way, I think the Fox will be a-okay without my business.
