First time experience ordering and eating at Gators BBQ. When you walk in there is a small dining area for you to eat and signs for you to order and pick up. I felt very rushed after I called in my order and arrived. I saw the cakes and wanted to add the cake to my order(which was done with no problem) but it also caused my potato salad to not get rung up. I was asked what sauce I wanted but no indication of the sauces available so I just said a mix. The food was good and had certain items that stood out. On the chicken dinner you get two sides. I ordered baked beans and fries. The fries were good. Can't wait to try the loaded fries. The baked beans were ok. They were not nasty at all and also were not over the top but edible. My next dinner was the rib dinner. I chose to get the thick ribs with Mac n cheese and collard greens. The Mac n cheese was standard and cheesy. The greens were heavily seasoned with a pepper taste. Not sure if it was pepper sauce or black pepper but too heavy. The sauces were a sweet one, one similar to Carolina gold, one similar to regular BBQ sauce, and one that was trash that was very liquid and tasted like vinaigrette with a Worcestershire sauce? The cakes were phenomenal!!! Definitely not sharable. With my overall visit, I will return.

The atmosphere was nice and cozy even nostalgic. The staff makes you feel like you're family and at home.
We ordered the green fried tomatoes, seafood combo with shrimp & scallops with mac & cheese & potato salad, baby back ribs dinner with fries & corn on the cob.
Everything tasted good and the prices reasonable and the food portions were large and filling.
The food arrived hot and fresh even though it seems they were also putting out several large to go orders.
We were pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant! Delicious BBQ food ✅, fast service ✅ family friendly ✅ friendly staff ✅ parking ✅ Close to I-295, exit 22 ✅ I felt like we won the lottery lol! The kids ordered kids ribs, one with sweet potato, one with corn, I ordered the burnt tips and chicken with sweet potato and corn, our oldest ordered the brisket with Mac n cheese and beans and my husband ordered the ribs with beans and we shared the fried green tomato! EVERYTHING, everything was great! Our fried green tomatoes came a little over fried first but Linda was quick to tell us that they were already making us a new batch. We recommend 100%!!!
Wow this was seriously amazing BBQ. The ribs melt in your mouth and pack so much flavor even without having any sauce on them (too many places drench their meats in bbq sauce). The baked beans and mac and cheese were great as well. Got some complimentary banana pudding while waiting for our meals. My favorite BBQ in NE Florida was Woodpeckers but this place makes it a hard choice now.
Great little place on the Westside of Jacksonville. I got a two meat platter with ribs and smoked turkey, corn on the cob and green beans. The beans were a little too peppery for my liking but other than that the food was good.
Ordered the tai chili wings and fried pickles wings were delicious fried pickles were nice and crispy service was great 10/10 would definitely recommend
We tried this place for the first time today after hearing so many good things about it. It lived up to all the good reviews for sure! I got the Pork Chop lunch. The pork chop was thin but very flavorful. The fried green tomatoes were really good. Fried thin & crispy. The sweet tea was perfect. (And you know how important good sweet tea is.) Also the collard greens (that my husband got) were probably the best I've had in awhile. We will be back to try more things!
We have wanted to try this place for some time. We were not sure what to expect, there were so many glowing reviews. But, we have been fooled before. Let me say, we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious. I had the 2 meat combo, ribs and brisket. Even the sides were good. We ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were also quite tasty. We will definitely be back!
Love the food but they DEFINITELY need a bigger dining area. That place is so packed I keep bumping into people so I have to stand against the wall lol. Not a long wait time either for the food. Staff very friendly. I love the fact they pass out samples of banana pudding while we wait.

My new favorite BBQ restaurant!! That's saying something bc I'm very picky about my BBQ. Fast and friendly service. Generous portions! Most importantly -.perfectly smoked fat and juicy full sized make you dance in your seat ribs!!😋😋😋
We got the rib dinner with 2 sides, slaw and fries. It came with 5 huge ribs, seasoned fries, and sweet cole slaw. I say we bc Hubby and I shared it and it was more than enough food. So dang delicious!! Our son got the NC Pork sandwich came with fries and drink. The sandwich was so packed high with juicy pork that he could barely get his mouth around it. 😃 Big Man Stamp of Approval!
I want to add, as a woman's POV, the restaurant was clean and decor was cute. To my surprise even the restroom was very clean, decorated and smelled good. That says a lot to me. 😁 You've got to check 'em out if you love BBQ. A friend texted me and said they also have delicious fried fish. Now I gotta go back!
