Review Fish House - Jackson

This picture is the "Catfish Strip Dinner" which is advertised as having 6 catfish "strips". The "strips" are actually small pieces of catfish filet. The 6 "strips" probably add up to about 2 filets. Everything tasted good and the hush puppies were great. For $9 including a sweet tea, it's actually not a bad deal.

Amazing food and amazing prices! Catfish fillets were huge and so yummy. The shrimp were really good. Best coleslaw around. Definitely will be back for more great food.

Despite some strange business hours, this place has been where I always go to get my occasional fried-shrimp dinner. Locally, it's hard to get one that tastes like shrimp instead of overused grease. Theirs, while obviously starting as pre-breaded, frozen shrimp, tastes fairly decent. I made the mistake of ordering the catfish plate one day, instead, and nearly took it back. The catfish tasted like mud. I know they are bottom-feeders and likely to be muddy but this was inedible without a large serving of spicy ketchup and tartar sauce. Alot of people don't mind that but I was raised on river fish. It bothers me. Some farm-raised are not so bad, if the ponds are well-filtered and cared for. Maybe it's just me ... Or maybe it was just that day's fish. They do a great business and I have watch many fish being thoroughly enjoyed in this place, so it can't be all that bad. Me, though... I'll stick to the shrimp plate to-go, please. I do enjoy having a place to get a shrimp dinner locally, so I'll still give them a 4 star. Their slaw is good and their dinners generous servings for decent prices. Maybe one day, if I feel adventurous, I'll try their small-plate side option and try the fish again just to get another data point. Hopefully that was a fluke.

Their catfish isn't seasoned well and like any other fried foods served there they are quite greasy. Their fried dill pickles used to be something I loved but the breading isn't consistent, again their very greasy and they're typically luke warm. I wish their baked potatoes they served with the option of being loaded with bacon pieces, cheese and green onions rather than just sour cream and a pack of butter.

It’s the best experience. I love that it’s a family place. The employees are the best. I love there food. They are so nice people. There slaw is the best slaw I ever happened. I have a great day going to the fish house and eating with my friends and family.❤️

This place is hit or miss on the catfish. On .y last visit, one person at my table had a very undercooked whole catfish. Also, all but two of the workers seem as if they despise seeing customers come in the door. I watched as a customer stood at the counter for 3 or 4 minutes before she was even acknowledged. This was not at a busy time, they were sitting at the waitress table talking and playing on their phones.

I tried to call in my order for twenty min. But could not get through when I got there to order in person there was a waitress on the phone with a personal call. I heard other people talking about how long they tried to call. There was a feeling of not caring about the customers including the ones that were eating in. Nobody was cleaning tables or concerned about getting orders to the cooks in the kitchen. When I finally got my food the potato was cooked to long , hard, dark and cold. The only reason I gave 2 stars is the fish, slaw and hush puppies were delicious.

Not a big fish fan wasn't sure about the seafood there .so me and my dad ate here 1 week ago today .The table was sticky The sourkrout in the bottle looked old and nasty there was a pitcher of something on The table . The price of the food was way overpriced for the amount of food we got.There wasn't many people there and the waitress did not come back to ask if we needed anything or if our food was good .there was 3 people in the front the whole time we were there 1 girl was on the phone most of the time the waitress was taking a break and eating . Then there was a guy that was going back and forth from the back to the front to talk to the waitress and to the girl on the phone they have no sense of order. it was hey sit where ever u want and wait 12min to be waited on .Sorey but we want be returning to this place ...Id rather pay the $ to the shrimp basket least the have a friendly staff ...
