Order at counter, get your own drink (did not see beer/wine/alcohol), they will bring it to you. Ribs were great, St Louis style, with several sauces to choose from. Sides of baked beans and creamy cole slaw, both tasty and the slaw had good fresh texture. Only wished the sides were larger. Worth the walk from the truck stop.

Absolutely GREAT sides, LOVED THEM!! My only, and even though it was really good despite is the ribs, St. Louis style were not really that style, it was more pepper than anything. Beans, creamy Cole slaw, were excellent, just doesn't seem the ribs are REALLY smoked, more like heated. Just my opinion, but will be back for other things because they were still good, just not truly smoked, everything else was incredible. Ribs ok, but I go for great on ribs in Missouri.... thus the 4 stars. Otherwise would've been 5

Sadly I kinda had high hopes for this place when they first opened but this place closed down in April 2019 due to lack of business. I think it could of had a chance of surviving and doing well if it had a nice marketing plan? It needed some unique and interesting things to offer on their menu? Sadly, they were very limited and I guess did not have a plan B? What people should understand when running a eating establishment is they must cater to the crowds be open to change and do something unique and daring to get their attention. Basically they should ask themselves what makes them stand out from all the other BBQ places? When I ate there I was not impressed as nothing really stood out as their signature dishes and they were really very limited on what they offered? Nothing wrong with just serving sandwiches but it was just ok nothing special? Which was a plan for failure unless you have something that really WOW's the customers. I would have liked to see them succeed offer other items like great desserts, awesome burgers, chicken, smoked fish, smoked crabs and lobster and a lot of other items of interest. I feel for the owners as I know they tried hard to make it work.

Pros: -The counter girl, Haven, was very polite. -The atmosphere was very clean and family friendly. -The mustard potato salad was decent. - The grilled cheese was perfectly cooked. That's about all they had going for them. Cons: -With a name like Hawg Pit bbq, you're expecting real pit bbq. Which it isn't. The food is most likely made in a low end electric smoker. We got a half rack of ribs with no bark. I've seen someone use woodchips in a double hotel pan and snoke better quality in an oven than what we got there. -The dry rub on the ribs is a pepper and what appears to be a cornbeef seasoning combination, which I have never seen and hope to never see again. Out of a half a slab, my wife and I ate a single bone each and there was so much pepper, it made her sick. - The white potato salad was basically potatos, sour cream, onions, and bacon. There was no seasoning to it whatsoever and the sour cream was overpowering, making it difficult to enjoy. - My pulled pork sandwich was the size of something I would expect on a kid's meal. I would be surprised if there was even a 3oz scoop on there. - While the counter girl handled the complaint gracefully, the owner's mother (apparently) did not. She was quick to get an attitude about said complaint. - No manager even came out to speak with us.

The food is spectacular, service was great too, very friendly small town feel. The building looks very clean and new, several tv's in dining room. And multiple types of bbq sauce to choose from on the tables. All around great experience!

Very friendly staff~ Great tasting food~ Clean as a whistle~ Would like to see them lower their prices a little bit so that they can attract more people. So many say that they are too expensive. Great people though!

It was ok, not great. They don't have brisket except for a special. I will say the lunch special was a good deal.
