Chilango's Mexican Grill

Very welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. Excellent service. Now onto the food. By far the most authentic Mexican food I have ever had. So much flavor their beef & Chicken tacos. My wife says it's the best Chicken Chimichonga she has had to date, she was really prolonging her last bite. Loved the hometown atmosphere as well.

I frequent the Broken Egg & Chop House often and have always had decent service/food. Last night, I decided to try out the new Chilango's on Ganson Street. The food was decent, however, the customer service was unprofessional and vile. My spouse and I ordered two flights (being equivalent to one shot of alcohol possibly a smidgen more) with the assumption of them being $9 and the other $12, when we received our receipts we were charged $21 for one and $25 for the other. We attempted to explained to the staff that we were not explained the price and that we pointed and intended to order the ones we pointed to. The staff was ill-behaved, impolite and cut me off several times. He snatched my debit card off the table, argued with me and stormed off for his manager. I also mentioned that we were in the cameras view directly over us and they could take a quick look at that to see that we did not request the ones being charged for. I explained calmly, I would pay but did not feel that it was fair to pay such a large difference than we originally requested. The manager came out and was just as rude if not worse. He argued back with my spouse and I, did not offer any resolution and treated us as if we were stupid. He went on to "inform" us how expensive alcohol is and that we ordered it and were to pay. After me attempting to explain multiple times the miscommunication, in response he would blankly stare at us like what we were trying to say was meaningless. I have never been treated so poorly at any business. I was dumbfounded at the poor standard and lack of customer service. During our dinner before this mess, another staff member, still in uniform (I am unaware if he was clocked out or still being paid) ordered an entire pitcher of alcohol to himself. He was loud and made it clear that he was drinking it, but was "a little worried to drink it all then drive home." After we paid for our meal, we were walking to our cars and the staff member waiting on us, still in uniform was smoking at the front of the building by the door. I am unsure if it common practice for employers dressed in uniform to smoke outside of the entrance or drink at the bar, however, it made the environment feel rather iniquitous. The entire experience was terrible and extremely uncomfortable. I will never give money to a place that treats their customers like we were, not to mentioning drinking and smoking while possibly being paid to do so. I would never recommend any family, friend or co-worker to go to such a distasteful group of people.

This is one of my absolute favorite places to eat and whenever I am hungry I beg my boyfriend to go to Chilango's. The past three times we have gone in there around 8:30 they had already closed the grill although both their door and their hours on Google clearly state that they close at 9:00. It is so disappointing and frustrating to be so excited about dinner and to be sure they close at 9:00 so walking in at 8:25 shouldn't be a big deal and you cannot get food. I suggest that you all just think they close at 8:30 or they change their hours on both their door and Google. So frustrating. I give them a three because their food and service is amazing. Before 8:30 at night.

First time there. Not a traditional-looking restaurant from the exterior. Almost left before we went in. So glad we didn't. LOVED the food. It really is the best authentic Mexican food we've ever had. Reasonable prices. Cute interior. Clean. Great staff. This will definitely be the place to go when we visit Jackson again!

This place is the real deal! I was visiting from Oklahoma, where we get our fair share of good Tex-Mex, and found Chilango's on Google. Having been to Mexico a few times, I was pleasantly surprised to have a Mexican food experience that was more authentic than I expected. Anyone looking for REAL Mexican food should find their way to Chilango's. And for those who love Tex-Mex, you won't feel out-of-place there either. Excellent food and service!! This restaurant is an unexpected gem!!

Best Mexican in town and, frankly, all of Michigan (in my limited experience). Real, authentic, and, most importantly, DIFFERENT. I love ordering any of the tacos they have, but my absolute favorite is the California Burrito, which is great if you're looking to pack your daily caloric intake into a single entree.
