I toured this museum during the Mississippi portion of a road trip, and I was really impressed! They have an excellent permanent collection of amazing works which are free to the public, and the invitational exhibit which is $15, but definitely worth it! I am always happy to give my money to parks and museums! The staff here are also very friendly and the museum is very beautiful. There is also a gorgeous Art Garden outside of the museum where you can sit and enjoy beautiful flowers and trees and sculptures.
I’ve always enjoyed the Art Museum, my favorite showcase is the scholar showcase. Recently I went for an event they hosted in partnership with others and I had an amazing time there was kids run and playing out side there was kids in the inside along with adults doing the guided tours. I even over hear a little girl answer a question the tour guid asked and she got it right. The fun filled activities out side for both adults and kids. The Art museum even brought out Jackson Hinds for health screenings. There was several food trucks and in total for my entire time spent there I spent roughly 33 dollars. Not to mention they hosted a movie from the Cspire stage while everyone hung in the Bankplus green. I look forward to future event the Art Museum have.
Absolutely incredible destination in Jackson Mississippi! Not only is there historical pieces but they support young artists! Such a powerful experience! Highly recommend!
Went to the museum of art for Japan Fest. The organizers thought they would attract 200 people. When the doors opened there were already 120 people in line. Foot traffic wise they had 500 plus attendees. Very nice showing for an inaugural event. It was hosted by the Japanese consulate. Events such as traditional drumming and flute music, sake tasting, book mark making, sushi introduction, JET program, Japanese writing, art tables.
I visited this museum while on a road trip across Mississippi, and I was blown away! They have a fantastic permanent collection of beautiful pieces that are free to the public, as well as a $40 invitational exhibit that is well worth it! I am always delighted to donate to parks and museums! The personnel is also quite polite, and the museum is rather lovely. Outside the museum, there is a lovely Art Garden where you may sit and see the wonderful flowers, trees, and sculptures.
One of the best museum that we have ever visit.
Pros: The place is pretty nice both from the outside and the inside. They are free so it is so amazing and everyone can come and visit that is so awesome. Let me pay the excise be a “special and there’s many activities that you can do while you are there.
Cons: There’s not a lot of parking space and it is downtown so that may be quite something going on. Because it is free so there’s not many special pictures of arms that you can see.
The exhibits were really moving and powerful. Ryan, a docent, was very welcoming and introduced us to the Great Migration exhibit. Definitely worthwhile.
The Staff Amazing!!!Exhibits speak for themselves.
