The best place to eat in Jackson! It's a special place and the rolls are baked in heaven and sent down to earth...as well as the sauce on the table, the veal, the enchiladas and the staff. My favorite! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
We enjoyed talking to the owner as much as we enjoyed the food! We will definitely be going back when we visit our daughter at Millsaps. I recommend the breaded veal cutlet with white gravy which the owner recommended to us! The dinner rolls are the best! Definitely ask the owner about the history of the place. They're so good that some patrons have been dining there for 45 years! That's a true testament to how great of a place this is!
Stopped off here for a quick lunch and wasn’t disappointed. This is one of the older lunch establishments in the downtown Jackson area. There wasn’t a long wait to get a table and the hostess was friendly as she sat us. Our waitress was courteous and informed us of the specials and got our drink order. The food came out pretty fast and had really good flavor. The prices were about right considering the amount of food you received and all in all it was a good experience. Definitely try the rolls.
Hey All Well we tryed a new but old Restaurant in Jackson and it was like steping back in time with easy listening music laid-back atmosphere elegant dining find food I'm just a very good time and a small restaurant in downtown Jackson it is a must you go see and try it's an oldie but a goodie it's been in business for 70 years three or four generations of family has owned and operated this restaurant it's worth the try enjoy
Enjoyed lunch with family today. I have been dining here since I was a small child, this was my husband (from Tennessee) & our son's first time to try it. We all ordered iced tea, it was fresh, brewed perfectly & our server was refilling our glasses in a timely manner. My husband ordered fried shrimp, my son got the cheeseburger, I ordered the chicken fried veal steak. All of us received the most perfectly fried french fries with our entrees. We also ordered an order of fried dill pickles. Hot & crispy. The best yeast rolls were served hot with butter. Their comeback dressing was delicious. The only complaint was from my husband. He wanted a bigger salad. No room for dessert w, we were stuffed. Thank you for giving us hot delicious Mississippi food & gracious service. Good to be back home.
A small, quirky restaurant with an old school atmosphere. The warm rolls were served with real butter, the flaky fish was cooked perfect and the salad a perfect size. The dessert wasn't worth it and the hostess was kind enough to take it off the ticket.
The Elite may have been the “elite” restaurant in years past but that ship has sailed. Still worth a visit. Mostly booths, waitresses in white, water brought to your table in small glasses, and other amenities nostalgic. Wide variety of entrees from fish, shrimp, steaks, veal cutlets served quickly and tasty. Small dinner salad with house homemade comeback dressing is a treat. Prices are moderate. Two problems for a southerner are NO sweet tea and bread pudding served cold.
I've been going to the Elite since I was 10 years old (42 years). Our family would go for dinner on Friday nights growing up. Today I always get the same thing. Veal cutlet with white gravy. But I have had the enchiladas and they are awesome. They have the rolls market covered in downtown.
