Shalimar

Good food and excellent customer service. I visited Shalimar restaurant from Philadelphia and I have to say it was worth the drive and wait. I reserved my spot as I was told it will be busy and yes it was SUPER busy. Mohsin was my server and he was great. He made sure food came in on time and provided excellent service. Food is good and I would highly recommend this place if you love Pakistani food. Service was excellent and everyone working there was polite. Go try it out and share your experience.

Shalimar Restaurant 1335 Oak Tree Rd, Iselin, NJ 08830 King of All you can eat Aftar Buffet Polls. Shalimar was the first desi restaurant I went to when I first came to the USA. So many memories with Shalimar. Always best service and it gives you the homely feeling. Went to Shalimar a few days back for Aftar; as seen in many polls, this is the best Aftar all-you-can-eat buffet for 24.99$. I went on a weekday, and it's already full. The staff somehow got us seated at shared tables. Highly recommended to book reservations before going as there is not enough seating. Overall the customer service was superb, and the number of dishes was ample. The owner and manager were on the spot helping all the customers. Refills are fast and ample. The place gets crowded, and you may end up shoulder to shoulder. I do feel they can increase appetizers, chats, gol gappa/Pani puri, and dry BBQ items, which were less. Tried the following items: Drinks: Lemonade: 3/5 Mango Lassi: 3/5 Rooh Afza Dhoodh: 5/5 Tea: 4/5 Spring Rolls: 3/5 Samosa: 4/5 Bread Pakora: 5/5 Chat: 3/5 Good quality khajoor/dates. Lamb Chops: 5/5 the best, hot and quick refill Chicken Seekh Kabab: 3/5 Fried Fish: 5/5 the star Tandoori Chicken: 4/5 Haleem: 4/5 Chicken Karahi: 3/5 Chicken Jalfrezi: 3/5 Butter Chicken: 3/5 Not good Naan: 4/5 Hot and good. Gulbab Jaman: 4/5 Kheer: 5/5 Did not tried: Chole, Palak Paneer, Aloo sabzi, Chilli Pakora, and Daal Mash Ambiance: 3/5 (Gets overly crowded, and a long line to get to dishes) Customer Service: 5/5 Value for money: 5/5 Plates and Glasses: 5/5 Good Quality Overall it was a good experience. The star of the show was lamb chops and fried fish. They can increase appetizers, chat, and dry BBQ items. 5/5 Highly Recommended.

Their Ramadan Iftar buffet had a lot of selections. My favorite is their lamb chops! Even though it was very busy, we were able to make a plate and enjoy the food for iftar. Their sweets are also amazing and had to take some Jalebis to go for suhoor at home :) Will definitely be back for another iftar iA.

I have been going to Shalimar since I was a kid and they have been a staple in New Jersey for a very long time. When someone brings up Pakistani Food in New Jersey, Shalimar is always one of the first places that pops up into one's mind. They are the ones that introduced the world to the Chicken Cheese Kababs and made Butter Chicken a thing around here. Lots of credit goes to them for all the delicious food they have brought out to the area over the years! This year for Ramadan my first Iftar at a restaurant was Shalimar's Iftar Buffet and I must say it is one of the best buffets I've ever had. They have so many items and different cuisines its hard deciding what to take. I have attached pics of the different items I enjoyed in the buffet like their famous Butter Chicken, Lamb Chops, and various Kababs. If you are deciding on where to go for Iftar, Shalimar should be on top of your list for the amazing buffet they have!

We went to Shalimar king of Sweets and restaurant on Oak Tree Rd last night, for an Iftar buffet. After reading all the good reviews and not so good ones, I was frankly skeptical about visiting but we wanted to give it a try. Good things first, a very large selection of items, from bar b que to curries, snacks and desserts and everything in between. As everyone said, for us also, the favorites were Lamb Chops and Fried Fish. Besides those, there were few more things which I truly found delicious, that includes veggie chowmein or hakka noodles, Chinese chilli chicken, Kheer and Gulab Jamun, wings, bread pakoras, veggie pakoras, afghani rice and shawarma style chicken, Chicken Biryani. We tried few other things which were average. But I think the above mentioned items were enough for us to recommend this buffet. Friendly staff, good customer service, trays were being refilled quickly. They didn’t charge for kids (5 and 2.5). Few things that people have been writing about, but it didn’t bother us much as we have been through this in Pakistan, like waiting for food in line where there is a buffet, smaller space where people are very closely sitting and at times, we have to pass through their tables, but it gave us a feel of eating in Pakistan actually, so we are totally fine with that.
