Came back to Indianapolis for another convention, this place must be out of business now tried to call numerous times but no answer.
Visiting for a convention, ordered delivery to the hotel. Food was great! Very fresh and more than plentiful! Delivery was fast as well. Next time I'll ask for chopsticks. Thanks!
#1 Downtown. Definitely the best downtown carry-out Chinese food. Seeing as though I've tried the majority of them, I am speaking from experience. The fried rice that comes with any of the combination meals is seasoned tremendously. I do not mind spending the extra $0.75 to switch for vegetable fried rice/shrimp egg roll, either. Prompt preparation, quality product, and service with a smile -- what is not to love?
Fast and hot Chinese food to go. Nothing spectacular but reliable.
The ONLY Chinese Place I call for delivery. I have NEVER eaten in their establishment, but I love their food! I went through a few different places while I was starting college, but now, years later, I still use them. I remember for a time that I called them so often they knew my order and knew were to go, depending on who answered. They even called me on calling from a different location once lol! But over all, I love their food. I think the quality varies sometimes, but for the most part its hot, fresh and ready to eat when I get it. I love these guys and move away from their downtown location. I hope their other location is as good as they are!
Best Chinese food in Indianapolis! There food is always fresh and tasty. I will be coming back here more often!
Best Lunch Downtown Under $5. I go here at least once a week and some weeks, every day. Some of their dishes are terrible (Mongolian Beef). Some are excellent (Szechuan anything). Find something you like and stick with it.
I call in the same order every time. They no longer even give me a number, they just tell me 10 or 15 minutes. I arrive, pay and am out the door with only a "thank you". I really appreciate service people that know their regulars! Walk across the street to the City Market to eat with some of the best people watching this side of the state fair.
The lunch specials are $5ish. Szechuan Chicken (the only thing I ever order) runs $4.85. Request "extra spicy". My only complaint is that they don't have brown rice, but for less than $5, it's less a complaint and more of a suggestion for improvement.
Don't Look, just Eat!. This place sustained me for years when I lived and worked downtown. Decent modestly priced food that was filling and satisfying.
But it ain't the Taj Mahal. I cannot imagine eating there. It's grubby, cold and smells of old grease.
However I cannot find Chinese ribs quite as good (nearly but not quite) and the fried wontons are a mystery meat treat. And they deliver. Quickly. If you are going in to pick up you MUST call in advance or risk waiting in there for a loooong time. So long you begin to notice things you may not want to notice in a restaurant. Grab and go or get it delivered. You will be happy.
PS: WHAT is up with that front door? Heavier than hell, splintery and scary. It's been the same for 20 years and as I age I find I have a harder and harder time opening the damn thing. C'mon guys, give an old lady a break.
Didn't have what I wanted but replaced it with a free crabrangoon and gave me a very delicious general taos chicken combo for replacement aleverything I've ordered from here has been excellent so far! 10/10 would recommend
Very good flavors, not like the normal takeout places. Dishes that say spicy usually actually have some to them. They will make it extra spicy too if you ask. Good egg rolls
You can tell this spot is a community favorite. We had a craving for affordable chinese while we were downtown and this place came in clutch. Delicious General Tso's Combo at the right price (about $12, not including tip).
Some people on here were complaining about the lady being rude, let me just say as a person of mixed asian heritage she *was not rude* but i could see how you think that. She was the ONLY person working when i went in, cooking back to back for multiple groups of people while also taking orders at the counter AND answering the phone. At that boss level of multitasking, yeah customer service might not be at that over-the-top friendly level you'd get at a place with dedicated servers whose entire job is to cater to your every whim. Please don't confuse being busy with rudeness lol- also cultural differences do play a role too but we won't get into that here. 🙏 📿
Excellent Chinese food, great portion size and excellent value. Egg roll was fantastic! Definitely worth the 6 blocks I walked to get here.
The food is delicious. But, I see a little room for improvement in customer services. Worth checking the food you will love it.
Note: No dinning is allowed due to COVID-19.
This joint is as real as real gets. I don’t think you could have a dining area closer to the kitchen unless it was actually in the kitchen itself. If you need fancy interiors or wait staff in uniforms, you better go to Panda or PF. Not me. I’m a simple man, and this place is a simple pleasure.
Highkey the best lo mein in Indianapolis. I consider this spot a hole in the wall - it’s carry out only. Easiest to call ahead, and pick up is usually in about 10-15 mins.
I’ve tried their chicken and shrimp lo mein. Beef isn’t my favorite here as it is kind of rubbery, so skip the beef entrées. Crab rangoons are a hit and for an affordable price!
I've worked downtown for two decades and this China King has been a shining star in my lunch routine. They've remodeled the store post Corona and address Cajun boil options to the menu.
Picked up the Orange Chicken and fried rice with a canned soda. The lunch special was about $8.40 total. Couldn't believe how good of a value it was. Decent food but I don't believe that they are doing dine in at this time.
This is our go-to restaurant for Chinese food. We’ve tried various Chinese restaurants all over Indy, but this is the one we always find ourselves coming back to. Their food is always hot, fresh, delicious, and affordable. I do miss that their Chinese menu isn’t as expansive as it once was, considering they now also serve Cajun food, but the still have all the basics covered. We always look forward to going back!
