This is some of the best comfort food I've had in Indy and I simply can't believe I got ribs, mac and cheese, and green beans this good for $8. I accidentally went 15 minutes before they opened but they served me anyway, and fast. I couldn't rave enough about it - just go! (Just as a note, the prices vary by day, I'm not sure what they are the rest of the week but still seemed very reasonable)
I have fried fish with shrimp pasta 2x, meat loaf brown gravy, cabbage and mashed potatoes with brown gravy, stuffed chicken breast 2x green beans, Salmon Zucchini and onions with Shrimp pasta and Greens with no meat! My meal was amazing! You can actually get 4 meals for $36 depending on what you get! I spent $62 because the Salmon was $15 + them desserts but as you see I like food! Meal prep for the week plus, Sunday Dinner! A hidden Gem for Sure!
Don't drive by come on in. They have a visual menu what you see is what you can eat. What you eat your love. Will be coming back.
As I came in, they were still pulling out some of the fresh made items. The staff was super friendly and it seemed like there were a few tables open for people to eat inside. The place looked like it could host many different events inside considering how big it was inside.
I ordered the rib ends, Mac and cheese, cabbage, as yams. The ribs were the highlight for me. Perfectly cooked with the sauce as good company for the meat. The Mac and cheese was a bit more soupy that I expected, but still very tasty and rich. The yams were also tasty with a touch of savory spice in the mix. The cabbage, unfortunately was a bit of a disappointment. It just tasted like hot had been boiled without any seasoning.
Overall a good experience. I would come again for the ribs, but not my favorite soul food place in Indy.
One of our favorite spots when we come to the city. If it's a Tuesday or Thursday, even better. Homemade dishes. Very mom and pops. If you want fancy, go somewhere else. This is homey, this is like going to your friend's Grandma's house for dinner. Comfort food.
I really enjoyed going to this event! The customer service was beyond exceptional, truly enjoyed how nice they were. The location was easy to get to however the parking was not ideal. The food was good and being served was fast. I do wish that the taste of the food was more consistent as some bites had more seasoning or flavor that another bite.
Lunch pit stop. Friendly staff. Food was just okay I recommend to add more seasoning.
What an amazing spot! We walked in and we’re greeted by numerous people genuinely expressing interest in us, our day, and our experience. While I waited, they gave me a fresh rib to try. The ribs were amazing, the cheesy potatoes were unbelievable. The beans had awesome flavor but were a bit long cooked (mushy-ish) for my taste. Cornbread was the only thing that didn’t slap for me. It was just a bit dry. Really, though, we’ll be back. We loved it!
I love the location of this spot in the predominantly African American community. This establishment is very rich in African American culture. I enjoy seeing how far we have come as a people; although we still have far to go. History and Herstory are our teachers that give vision, patience, and mustard seed faith to keep propelling forward.
My server was Imani (faith). She is always very sweet. All their food is scrumptious
.
Amen!
I have been focusing mainly on fish. Got the fish plates with two sides per plate and the bomb homemade lemonade.
They have a pedestal to place business cards and fliers for patrons. I love that as well. Thank you. You are appreciated. ❤️
This place has the atmosphere of walking into your Auntie house! The food reminds you of grandma's cooking. We've tried the ribs, pork chops, chicken, fried fish, cabbage, mashed potatoes, green beans and macaroni. Everything tastes savory and seasoned well. The customer service was friendly. The menu changes daily and can't wait to go back!
