Review El Puerto De San Blas - Indianapolis

Be ready for seafood! This isn’t a normal Mexican place, it’s centered around seafood. Ended up getting the shrimp fajitas that were pretty good. The shrimp were a little over cooked but not a big deal. Atmosphere is interesting but not in a bad way. Service was good and the food came out fast. No complaints.

A good place to sit down and eat delicious food. Great seafood and Mexican food options. Good portion sizes and reasonable prices. I saw other reviews as to the prices but with all honesty, seafood will always be more pricey so just keep that in mind as you pick what to eat. Really enjoyed their drink menu both alcoholic and nonalcoholic.

Mexican seafood restaurant with some of the best and freshest options available. I've never had a bad meal here.

Definitely in the ten best restaurants in Indianapolis. Possibly the best Mexican restaurant in the Midwest. Not text mex. Be prepared to be surprised. Chef's special butter is where it's at. Drinks are amazing and you need to get desert even if you don't have room.

This is easily my daughter's favorite restaurant and one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I like the seven sea soup but I always have to specify that I want them to make it spicy they're paella is also really good. My daughter's favorite dish is mocajetes san blas. With that dish you get a ton of seafood and it is incredible

The food here is FABULOUS! This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. This place is far and away the best you will find. You know when you walk in and you're the only Gringos in a full restaurant you've found a hidden gem. I've been here four times now, and each time the food is fresh and delicious. Don't be surprised to see families having dinner at one table and construction workers enjoying a beer at the next table. Bring your best Spanish skills or be prepared to point at the menu to order, because the staff doesn't speak English. They will find someone who does but be prepared, dining here is like being in some small Mexican village on the coast. You will be greeted and served graciously, but it will be in Spanish. I had the paella OUT OF THIS WORLD! Fresh shrimp, crab legs, muscles, clams, scallops, I told you this isn't your typical Mexican restaurant. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say if you want a spectacular dinner, you will not go wrong here.

Regional Mexican seafood restaurant with dishes that can feed a crowd. Come with friends and don't forget to order extra garlic bread to mop up the deliciousness.

Best authentic Mexican seafood I have had outside of Mexico. If you are traveling through Indy it is well worth the stop!

Seafood there was amazing. My son had talked to me about this restaurant a few times in the past and he finally was able to take me here to eat lunch and the food was off the hook! I am definitely planning to go back. The experience there was top notch.

Delicious food with generous portions. I strongly feel this place gives you your money's worth on every plate. I had the fajita trio (steak, chicken, shrimp) and my husband had the camarones la crema (shrimp in cream-based sauce). Both plates were fantastic. Also, the refried beans tasted like they were home-cooked, and the rice was perfect. Lastly, I had a berry limonade mojito beverage that was gigantic... I expected a pint beverage and they brought out a quart. This place is worth it. We will definitely be back.

Food is good no complaints, will keep going there. Atmosphere is also good, service could improve a bit more. Check on tables more often see if anything is needed. We had to chase the waitress bout 2-3 times.

After 2 years, I have to say that food keeps being served fast, full of flavors, very hot and nice presentation. They have new items on the menu, and yes, I will keep recommending this restaurant 100%.

The service was good, the food was awesome. I will go back again.

We had the nicest waitress, I know a little Spanish and they're trying to learn English but our language is the hardest language to learn. The food was amazing too!, I ended up getting the piña cantamar.

Been reading about this place in Indy monthly. Stopped by to try shrimp natchos. They were very good, but only after I added guacamole that is included and some of the great complimentary crab "salad" that comes with the chips. Will be back to try something more adventurous.

Dinner. Best Mexican food ever. Better than any of them out there.

Best Hispanic Restaurant in Town. Easily the best food for a "Mexican" restaurant in town. My favorite is the Paella or for lunchtime, the buffet (all the guacamole you can eat). Unfortunately, the staff doesn't speak (or they act like it) understand much English. Food is kinda on the high end for cost but worth it. Bathroom could use a fixup with more hand washing sinks. Other than that, the food is authentic and tasty. Everytime I'm there I hardly see any non-hispanic looking people so the food has to be on the real. Its my treat for good food when my wife is out of town because she does not like the restaurant and says my breath smells after eating there. Out of ten I give it a 8 and a half!

Unique Experience. I never really had Mexican seafood before my visit here excluding fish tacos. It was a mini vacation of sorts: 99% of the patrons speaking Spanish, Two T.V. stations playing Mexican music videos and latin music piped out over the music speakers. I got their signature dish Agua Chile(raw shrimp pickled in lime with fresh onions and green, hot peppers). The actual flavor of the shrimp was very mild. The waitress warned me when ordering that the dish was "hot", but once again it was rather mild. I am not sure if the chef toned it down for a gringo or if I really am just that use to eating really spicy foods. I would like to go again and try some other dishes. I saw a whole fried fish that looked very appealing. P.S. Still regretting not learning Spanish in Highschool. I guess it is never too late to get Rosetta Stone.

Not a fan. I know many that enjoy coming here for the unique and authentic Mexican seafood dishes , but I was not a fan, the food is beautiful, but did not taste as good as it looked. I was not impressed with it's lack cleanliness either. For the price, I was disappointed. Maybe it was a bad day for the chef.

Something to try. I have enjoyed this place every time I've gone. It's primarily a seafood restaurant and since seafood is pricey, be prepared....because the atomsphere feels kind of like a Captain D's or something, but the food is high quality seafood. I still love the place, only when you're going to spend $60 or more on seafood, I would like to have an atmosphere that fits the price. I'll still be back, though.

Authentic, unique and delicious. Lunch time offers a buffet. This is good but sit down and venture out to pick one of the dishes from a table next to you. The huge bowls of seafood soup, steaming with aluminum foil wrapped tortillas will make the buffet look like child's play. Fish tacos, shrimp tacos both excellent. Menu is in Spanish but pictures on back to help with selections. Almost didn't post this because I hate to think it will become mainstream!

Come hungry. Great selection on their lunch buffet (11-3) for $6.99,but I opted for the 3 fish taco's lunch special @ $5.99 which were especial tasty with any of the 3 homemade salsa's the came with tortillas .

It’s a blue 1970′s looking diner with two giant metal shrimp hanging from the awning.  Yes, that’s right, you read two giant metal shrimp hanging from the awning.  When I saw the two giant metal shrimp, I thought to myself, “This is going to be fantastic.”
