I walked in and notice the place is clean and busy. I ordered a Reuben Dog and I just loved it! Friendly staff, big all beef hot dogs and quality ingredients for toppings. This place has plenty of variety. Expect to pay typical downtown lunch prices 7-8 bucks for a dog of your choice, side and a drink.
I wasn't impressed with the fries. From what I am told the tots is where it's at here.
Unfortunately the hours are catered for weekday lunch crowd only. 11-4 Mon-Fri closed Sat and Sunday. Too bad I was go on a weekend to let people try it out.
You want a local restaurant that has good food, but is still a reasonable price, all in Downtown Indy? King David Dogs is for you. I have been a customer for years (from back when they were in their original location), and have never been disappointed with the food.
I usually only eat one of three selections when I go. My favorite is the Boom Boom dog. It has a fried egg as one of the ingredients, and the taste is the best. I also like the Barbecue dog (it contains bacon.. 'nuff said). When I'm really hungry, the Bad Decision dog will fill that big void.
Love this place. The staff is friendly, funny, and personable. The food is FANTASTIC! Awesome hot dogs, made in classic styles, or build your own. The fries are skin on, and tasty. Great chicken fingers, among other options. Check it out when in downtown Indy!
Home of the greatest gourmet dog ever made, staffed by an awesome crew. This has been my favorite restaurant in Downtown Indy for years.
When I got my job offer and started working on the Circle, I half-jokingly said that being right across the street from King David was the best part of my benefits package.
Now, some people might think that, after eating the same pretzel dog combo at least 2 times every week over the 9+ month period I've worked Downtown, I'd be sick of this place.
Well, those people thought wrong!
I have been a visitor to King David dogs for a very long time and have always enjoyed the build your own and mac and cheese. Always quick service even when there is a long line and always a smile on their face. It's a great spot for a downtown lunch.

Hot dogs are huge! You don't have to order more than one to get full. They're also not greasy. Quality is awesome and so are the people who work there.
Sure, it's a hot dog. But it's the best hot dog you've ever had, topped any way you like it. King David is an Indianapolis original. Definitely check it out if you're new to town.
Hecka flame, hecka fire. Quick service, clean place. Went during lunch time so it was busy but not crowded. Kind and patient cashier. The dog itself is effing iconic, smoky and it's color left me shook. Toppings could have been hotter, but it ok fam. Looking forward to hit up again. 😭😤🔥🔥🔥
I love stopping here when I'm downtown. Great hot dogs (or Weiss's baked ham for an alternative) Great, friendly service. Highly recommend!
Utterly delicious - tasty, quality, and a great experience. Awesome staff. Worth the time & drive. A must savor in Indy!
