The food here is good. I would consider this in between a fast food chain and a sit down chain. Actually food court food is what this reminds me of. I wanted 2 different tamales and couldn't get either one because of the season or something. The tacos are good but still americanized a bit. Nacho anything comes with an abundance of food. They are not afraid to add ingredients that is for sure. Music is a bit overpowering and seating arrangement is unique to them.
Would definitely eat here again but being 45 minutes from home I will have to sample other restaurants in my next visit which is actually today.

Well worth the two hour drive from Louisville for these tamales. Super casual atmosphere. Authentically delicious every time we come to Indy. Had one of their classic beef in red sauce (mild) tamales. The beef is tender, well seasoned, and the red sauce is delightfully garlicy. The chicken in green (mild) sauce may be my favorite though, with a nice flavorful green sauce with perfectly seasoned chicken.
The elote (corn on the cob) in a cup is everything you want in elote without the mess.
Always a required stop for us in Indy.

Simple yet tons of flavor. Great place to go for a quick bite. Nachos below are also just a small.

Well THAT was a pleasant surprise! My husband was headed for Jimmy John's next door when I decided we should try here. I love tamales, and this did not disappoint! Suoer fast and reasonably priced - Large chicken tamale, black beans, and iced tea for just over $10. Filling, fast, and delicious!

Our family (with two 3yo) had an early dinner and were heading home after a trip to the downtown children's museum. It is very convenient that they have a TV monitor with the updated inventory of tamales when you're thinking about your order. We split five tamales between us and had a some chips and queso. The food was wonderful! The "spicy" was somewhat mild to our taste, as the heat did not overpower any of the unique (and delicious) flavors. Our only critique was that we wished that more sauce/salsa was part of the filling, but perhaps that may be a limitation to prevent the tamale from being 'soggy'. The apple pecan tamales were fantastic - we ordered one for the kids but the server generously added a second one. We are from out of town, but whenever we pass through again we will make an effort to try to come back to The Tamale Place.

We eat at Tamale Place all the time — it’s so good! Everything on their menu, from tamales to tortas to tacos, is very authentic. And the sweet dessert tamales are so unique. I love the variety of tamales on their menu, though you need a little luck sometimes to catch your favorites (like the chicken in mole or poblano and cheese for me). But they’re all made fresh and that’s worth the chase.

We've been in the Greenwood area for a little over three years, drove by this place countless times but never stopped... Until today. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was incredible! Good portion sizes, phenomenal taste and authentic food. We got a wide variety of tamales, and tacos, but our favorites were the chorizo and egg taco and the chicken Verde! Definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes tamales!

Great food! Get it while you can. Limited quantities made daily. Go early enough to get what you want; however, everything's great, so don't feel bad, if you can only make it for a late dinner. The dessert tamales are also worth a try. Staff is friendly and food is served quickly. Only detractor is the availability of clean tables. The corn husk from tamales can make a mess and wiping tables, should be made a bigger priority. Normally, I would deduct stars, but all other aspects of this restaurant warrant ALL the stars.
