Cmon, this place wouldn’t be world famous if they were a bunch of slouches ! Scratch that, this ain’t Pats or Gino’s garbage, this is world class! Great food, great service, this place is the real deal! The shrimp cocktail is ridiculous, just get it. If you don’t like it , there’s something wrong with you, trust me , I know a guy that cooks stuff.

Beautiful restaurant, My steak was cooked perfectly. Their signature shrimp cocktail was an extraordinary cocktail sauce presented very nicely but the shrimp themselves were pretty bland, I guess they just assumed that the sauce is robust enough that they don't really season the poaching water for the shrimp. I have to say that I was very disappointed in the creamed spinach though. While waiting for my table to be available, I had a drink at the upstairs lounge and I saw several people eating their spinach and artichoke dip. Upon the arrival of my $15 creamed spinach, I realized that it was just the spinach dip in a wider serving vessel and without the chips. While I do enjoy spinach and artichoke dip, I wasn't expecting to get it being passed off as my favorite side dish. Overall I had a good experience but I wouldn't say it was worth the money. Next time, I'll just eat in the lounge.

St Elmo always has excellent steak selections. The three of us agreed our steaks were cooked to our preference - medium & medium rare. Side sides of red skinned mashed potatoes & navy been soup were excellent. Green beans had by one of our party were a bit bland. Cocktails were excellent. Ambiance was traditional wood paneled rooms with local photos for art. Service was attentive & timely.

St. Elmo's is a staple and it lives up to the hype! Many in the group I went with had gone before and gave great tips and convinced me to try their famous shrimp cocktail. It was really good and the horseradish based sauce really clears your sinuses, so enjoy it in moderation. The lobster bisque was probably the best I've ever had. Finally the porterhouse steak was the first I had ever had and I'm surprised I was able to finish it. It had great flavor. I look forward to returning next time I'm in Indy!

Visiting my son and his family in Indiana. We decided to go for an early Thanksgiving dinner and we chose this amazing restaurant. Undoubtedly one of the best steak restaurants we’ve been to. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was warm, festive and inviting. The size of the steaks are big enough to share and cooked to perfection. If you are visiting Indianapolis and want an excellent dinner visit St Elmo’s. Our server Mark Yohn deserves a shout out! Thank you Mark

Everything about this place was fantastic. It’s definitely worth the $$. It was on our “bucket list” for our trip to Indy. Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the menu. He checked in on us often. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The cocktail sauce will clear your sinuses right up. Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had.

We visited here on a Monday evening for my sister’s birthday. We both are born and raised in Indiana, and had never visited St. Elmo prior to this visit. Everything was phenomenal. The atmosphere, the food, and especially the service. Joel was our server and he was attentive, kind, and quick with service. I hope we have him again when we return! The shrimp cocktail was heavenly, but the horseradish knocks your socks off! Steaks: cooked to perfection! We also shared the butter cake for dessert, and it is a MUST!

Arguably the best meal I’ve had in my life. From start to finish, everything was fabulous. It’s hard to impress me with top tier service and dining experience… and they knock it out of the park. Philip was outstanding. Best birthday dinner. Steak is pricey but oh my goodness was it not only perfectly cooked, the dry aged flavor is something I never thought I needed in my life. I have zero regrets when the bill came. This place is a must try. Spend the extra money and get what you want, trust me when I say it’s worth it.

In downtown's heart, a beacon bright, St. Elmo's shines with dining light. No reservation? Have no care, The bar invites, a feast to share. Spicy shrimp, a bold delight, Horseradish kick, a fiery bite. Awakening senses, lively and quick, In every mouthful, a spicy pick. Steaks, a culinary creed, Each cut, a savory deed. Sides that twirl in flavors' dance, A symphony of taste, enhanced. Lobster bisque, a creamy dream, A soup that makes taste buds beam. With every spoonful, warmth and grace, A burst of flavor, a rich embrace. Cocktails aged, like tales well told, A sip of history, cherished and old. Each drop a story, a vintage song, At St. Elmo's, time is strong. Dine, dear friend, with joyful glee, At St. Elmo's, where hearts roam free. A symphony of taste and lore, A culinary treasure, forevermore.

Visited the restaurant during Devour Indy Week (Restaurant Week) and had a 3 course meal at an amazing price ($60). Food was delicious and our server, Andre, is the best! Shrimp cocktail definitely had a kick to it with the very spicy and signature sauce. This is the first time I had shrimp cocktail with the shrimps completely submerged in the sauce and it’ll clear your sinuses and then some. Everything was delicious, from the wedge salad to the lobster Mac and the butter cake was oh so yummy. If we visit Indy again, we will definitely return for another amazing meal.
