Best place to take a 2 hour shit! Tourette's guy sent me here. "You can go to jolly pirate donuts and take a two-hour shit for all I care!"
When I was a boy in the early to mid 80s, we would come to Huntington during the summer so we could visit our families. Both my parent's parents and their siblings and families still lived here. We would go down to my maternal grandparent's company (Ohio Valley Insulting) and my grandmother always had a box of Jolly Pirate Doughnuts that she bought for the office. I always snagged the maple frosted.
Over the years, when I started making the trip by myself, or with my family to visit my parents whom moved back to Huntington, I would make Jolly Pirate one of my regular stops in addition to the other iconic restaurants in Huntington.
Now 30+ years later, my grandparents are gone and I bring my family here to see my dad, I still stop to get a dozen plus a maple frosted.
By my home in South Carolina, there is a Krispy Kream Factory and a Dunkin' Doughnuts. Neither of these can compare to the taste of a Jolly Time Pirate Doughnut. I hope this place continues for decades to come.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Huntington may have some of the best food in the state. That may be partially because I don't get there as much as I'd like, so every time I go, there's something new and delicious to try. Jolly Pirate Donuts serves up some of the area's best donuts - in addition to Greek gyro sandwiches.
We came in for a visit and didn't want to leave without gyros from Jolly Pirate. They're seriously some of the best. Also, those fries. Those FRIIIIIES. So good.
Donuts are fine but the real gem is the gyro. The meat is shaved off a vertical spit just like the big city. Tsasiki sauce is ok but made with sour cream instead of yogurt by still pretty good. They also have Greek pastries and Greek pizza.
Good coffee, good donuts and friendly staff. And they take AMEX. woo-hoo! Nice for when I drop off donuts for clients, they like them too.
Yum!. A coworker brought Jolly Pirate donuts in to work yesterday. I have never had them before. They were fantastic!!!
The name Jolly Pirate how fun is that! Busy is an understatement. During our visit the drive thru was wrapped down the street & a line out the door. This didn't deter us from stopping. The line seemed long, but it moved quickly. Most doughnut shops are sold out after 2pm, not this place & they were refilling the shelves. I've heard of baker's dozen; how about Pirate Dozen of 13. Fresh, flavorful, adequate filling, tasty fillings, glazes, frosting, & other great toppings think nuts & coconut. My favorite was the Apple Spice - soft exterior, tastes of pie, & lightly frosted dusted with spice. Treat yourself to some treasure.
Grew up less than 5 mins from here, so we ate Jolly Pirates often. My husband also worked there for a long time, and brought us home a lot of donuts he made, and they were amazing!!! Waitresses are always very polite also.
I grew up less than a mile from here and it was always a great to get donuts. They have the freshest and most delicious donuts I've ever ate. I live about 45 min away now and I haven't ate there in a few years but if it's still anything like I remember, perfect! No one tops Jolly Pirates! My fav is the powdered sugar and I wish I could have one now lol
Service was great, as were the donuts! My The Adventure Zone loving daughter was thrilled to get a taste of the donuts 😂, including the pirates' dozen.
I've been in the area for about 3 yrs and I get a hades gyro once a week. They're amazing! Staff like Ariel create a great atmosphere. Friendly staff, great food and good prices. Don't forget to get a honey donut. Cash gets you a discount 💪🏾
Very good doughnuts , a bit pricey for dough I must say but oh well its the world we live in!
