Not bad... Great, no... But not bad at all. The service was a little slow, but good. The prices of the meals were a bit pricey, but you are by the beach and a tourist trap...So, that was a bit expected. But still a bit high for the amount and quality. The quirky ambiance was fun and inviting. Seating outside was nice with a beautiful ocean view. Will be a second trip, but so many other choices for great food, may not be for awhile. Will update once we visit again.
The Chicken Chingaderas were pretty good. The salad it came with was okay nothing impressive. The fries were good. The chips were fresh but the salsa wasn’t spicy at all. They can easily improve the salsa. Overall I would come back to try other dishes. Our server was great. He came around often and took care of us. My friends ordered champagne with pineapple juice and they brought it in a beach kids pail with some ice 🧊
Very generous portion size. Served best nachos ever with interesting pickled soury jalapeños. Chicken taco salad is delicious as well. Love all their food even the churros. Bottom line large dishes and excellent fresh dishes. Can do better in cleaning tables .
I guess this is a tourist trap - amazing location right on PCH overlooking the pier and ocean; funky, unique atmosphere; cute, friendly servers and sub par Mexican food. I always wanted to go to Fred's - as a local, I won't be back but it's a fun place and I can see why they keep busy.
So this is my review of this place.
1. Service 7/10 (she forgot twice our drinks and utensils when we got our food. But she had a good smile and tried hard)
2. Decoration 8/10 (nice place typical from Huntington Beach)
3. Food 9/10 (so the food and drinks are very good and very tasty 😋)
4. Cleanest 7/10 ( the restroom where okay but could be better. There was a lot of food on the ground they could clean up a bit more)
5. Ambience 8/10 (a very cool place to be and where you can meet good people)

Decent bar with good food, large portions, can share with advantage. Great value for money and was pleased with the service
So I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but if they have a good Mexican salad I'm all there. This place so delicious and our server was absolutely amazing. I got the taco salad with steak and it was by far my favorite Mexican restaurant. The view we had was absolutely delicious.

the nostalgia of Fred's is second to none, the food tastes as it did in the early 2000s. always a great atmosphere, food and service.
Awesome beach views! Fast, friendly service. Highly recommend the Mexican candy drink..Sooo good!!! Also taco tuesday special after 4pm until 10pm. Fajitas were a hit also. You can get parking validated for up to 2 hours at the garage nearby.
