I have been a regular at the Iron Chef for 4 years and absolutely love the place and recommend it to everybody. The prices are reasonable, the quantity is awesome, the people are friendly and personal, and the sushi is always fresh and delectable. P.S. Try one of their specialty rolls called the "Dancing Roll."

The sushi here is definitely 5 stars, especially for the price. The house special rolls are all fantastic - best Rock N'Roll on the planet - and the only thing I've ever had that I wasn't too fond of was a bit of a friend's yakisoba. Also tried and great: tempura, gyoza (dumplings), edamame, sashimi, teriyaki obento (yum), etc etc. Go during Happy Hour - feels like a total steal, so I always get a bit guilty (all their house special rolls are $5.95 from 5-7 T-F and 3-7 Saturday). The service... varies. Food tends to come quickly... unless they forgot about it (happens fairly often with a dish or two if you're with a big party). If they look at all busy - like, more than 6 tables full busy - you may want to duck out. If they're truly busy-busy and you're with a group, you could easily be there for 2-3 hours. Don't be afraid to actually get up and ask for the check after a bit. Also some problems with money handling, etc. They do occasionally give you free things if it takes too long or they mess up the order, but... Basically, don't come here with someone who hates bad service. The food is definitely worth it, though, and the price is great.

I live locally and had dinner here last night and was completely impressed when I told the chef to serve me what he pleases. I had Blue Fin, Fatty Tuna, White Tuna (Escolar), Fatty Salmon and many more and it all was absolutely divine. The fish melted in my mouth as did the Uni Quail Egg Mango Shooter which was the best and most creative I have ever had. They have a good variety of rolls and sashimi including Blue Fin, nice variety of beverages as well with a great house saki. The chef delivers more of a New York style flare to his sushi definitely delivering on the freshness unlike many other Houston Sushi bars/restaurants I have visited. Much of this area is packed by Columbian, Cuban, and Mexican cuisines which typically dominate the local shopping centers however this place is a nice oasis bringing some originality and diversity to an area saturated by Latin cuisines. Iron Chef is not swank like many of the other supposed GREAT sushi bars in Houston, however this unassuming place can really deliver on the quality and freshness.
