A taste of Louisiana in Texas
I stopped here for lunch and since it's crawfish season I had to try the crawfish etouffee. I ordered the appetizer. Absolutely delicious! So flavorful. I also ordered the half New Orleans Muffuletta. It actually reminded me of a muffuletta from New Orleans. Abe's is the real deal. Friendly customer service and not expensive. Next time I will try the desserts.
My hubby and I have had wonderful experiences with this restaurant. The seafood is prepared and will exceed your expectations. The prices are very good and the service is great. We have brought our grown children and their children and Church members who live in Bay town, TX. Go there and you will not be disappointed.
I came in here for lunch. The place was recommended by other colleagues that were here a few days earlier. I ordered the catfish platter. It came with way more catfish than I expected. I was barely able to get to the side items. All the items were very good. The prices are moderate and the portions were on the large size. Very satisfied with Abe’s and would recommend the place to others.
If you had a bad experience here a year or two ago, give them another chance.
Abe's has had an odd recent history, fortunately with a good ending [so far]. When I first started going 5 or 6 years ago, Abe's was good: nice portions, good food, and appropriate wait times.
Then something happened, and the quality of the food and --- more notably --- the portion sizes went down dramatically. I complained, and stop going. Apparently, others did too. Because then something else happened, and I'm happy to report that for the last year or so, they're right back on track.
Pro: Just about everything. I think all of the food that I've eaten there [in this Phase III incarnation, at least] is solidly good. Nothing to get a Michelin star, but solidly, consistently good food, properly prepared and properly seasoned. I like the salads. I like the lunch specials. I'm from a state where cornbread is mandatory, and the cornbread (two kinds: regular, and jalapeño) flows at Abe's. They have a Coke FreeStyle, which is especially appreciated by those of us looking for the elusive caffeine-free diet drink. They have self-serve jalapeño ranch dressing. They even have the good, thick, sweet red ketchup [you know what I'm talking about]. I've never been able to get there for dinner, but they look to have some good dinner specials, too.
Cons: Not much. It's a little hectic [you order at the register and are given a number, then waiters continuously circulate through the eating area with trays calling out those numbers, but that's just part of the vibe and has never bothered me at all. Parking is sometimes a little crowded, but worst case you might have to walk 50' [for me, eating at all times from 11:00a to 1:30p, this happens maybe once in ten times].
If you're anywhere near Clear Lake, give them a try.
I love their grilled shrimp caesar salad, but the hubs gets something new every time and we always walk out satisfied! Some of the best home style cajun cooking in Texas!
The Spinach Muffaletta. Spinach, cream cheese, homemade olive mix, and provolone cheese
I am not a seafood lover, but my husband convinced me to try it. I was so glad he did. This place was great! I told them I'd never been, so they made me a sample plate to try so I could choose. I ended up trying the red beans and rice with a half roast beef & auju. The hush puppies my husband got on the side were fantastic, and I swear I'm going to have to try the carrot cake next time. Well worth a try. Enjoy!
Had po boy catfish sandwich with red beans and rice with French fries. Wonderful place to eat. Fast service even though we ate at noon during the peak of the lunch crowd. Catfish sandwich needed a little hit of hit sauce to spice it up a little, but overall it was perfect. Many things to try on the menu. Can't wait till my next visit.
Food was delicious, portions large and prices fair. We will be back.
I love this place reminds me of home cooked food from my grams priced right awesome food and fir the people that think its terrible and overpriced go back to Yankee land and eat you crap you call food there you Jack wagons. Keep it going Abe's awesome and I will be back.......

Fresh, fast, delicious cajun cooking. The staff was helpful and friendly helping decide what to try for those 1st timers. The restaurant was clean and well kept. Would return to try some of their mouth watering desserts.
Absolutely love this place. Never had a bad dish. They might have the best chicken caesar that I've ever had. The French Quarters Roast Beef Po Boy is pretty freakin delicious too.
The best Cajun food outside of Louisiana. Love this place. The crawfish etoufee is amazing and the cornbread is a must have.
Just tried Abe’s for the first time. Seafood gumbo was 10/10. Really good gumbo and generous portion. Large bowl of gumbo, cornbread plus drink for $12 is a high value lunch. Will be back for sure.
We come here pretty often. Smothered pork chops on rice and the roast beef sandwich Boudain balls twice baked potatoes and more. Very good with order at the counter and self seating.
This place was awesome. Excellent crawfish dishes. I recommend to get the sampler of soup . Good boudin, the fried mushrooms were delicious. Not forget the cake desserts .
Wow! We came to Abe's for Sunday lunch. It was excellent. My husband got the Cajun sampler, and it was enough food that he'll be having lunch tomorrow! Ask food was delicious, and the service was super friendly. We'll definitely be coming back.
I'm a very solid veteran foodie, and when I say this is my favorite oh, there is no smoke being blown. The people are friendly, the food is delicious. I used to drive to San Leon for topwater grill, this one measures up to it and gives you more food. I love love love this place.
👍 The owners are from Lake Charles, Louisiana and the food is really good. We especially like the fried oysters and crawfish boudin.
👍 They have frozen food you can buy and cook later.
👍 They have a restroom (bathroom), which is a viral meme (pictured).
🤛 The only bad thing thing I have to say about this place is that it's so far from civilization (outside Houston's 610 Loop) 😅
I had the New Orleans Muffaletta with a bowl ofchicken and sausage gumbo both were delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
