Cavo Coffee

Update: The coffee: It is still a bit more on the bitter side, without being too biting. I quite enjoy it. There's some nice chocolatey undertones that I appreciate. Since my first visit, they've switched to the vero cortado glasses by notneutral that seem to be making waves among the Houston coffee shops, and for good reason. It is a great glass that has a nice weight and mouth feel. It's a nice touch that I have come to really like, so big thumbs up there. They have also improved their presentation of coffee, which is part of the reason I bumped up the score. It's not groundbreaking, and despite their Instagram, it isn't anything really special, but it is a big step up from what it was the first time. I would say at the very least, it is no longer a detriment. Perhaps you could request for their Instagram-style latte art if you want to be super extra. The shop: It's a pretty convenient location, with some great restaurants nearby, and a parking garage in the back. This is a huge benefit that is all the more apparent when you go to places that have no parking. There's some mellow music playing, and it isn't too loud in the shop, but I wouldn't call this a quiet place if that's what you're looking for. Some of the tables are wobbly to an unusable degree, but if you aren't stuck there, the seating is pretty great. The bathrooms also have a bunch of things that you may never need, like cotton swabs and hairspray, but its a nice touch. Overall: I like the coffee more than I remember, and they have improved their presentation, which they did say they would do after my first review, so I would now safely recommend this place. The fifth star can come when my coffee looks like their Instagram (or anything else changes that just blows me away). For now, I'll add it to the rotation of coffee shops that I frequent. Original: The cortado was very creamy, dark, chocolatey, a bit bitter and a bit earthy. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it wasn't bad either. There weren't any points for presentation either. Overall, I don't think prices were justified. The staff was friendly enough. I did like the ambiance, and there were outlets, making this a good place to get some work done. I would say overall that this place wasn't bad, but compared to the competition it just wasn't anything special. I probably won't come back.

Great place for coffee, tea or breakfast. Their avocado toast is great and interior design very modern, almost Scandinavian. Much more personality than Starbucks.

Food was fantastic!! Had an avocado, egg, goat cheese, arugula toast. Wow! The flavors were delicious. There was a hint of citrus which took it over the top. The staff was great!! Very helpful. Only disappointment was the drip coffee. It was not hot or flavorful. However, I would go back.

Good coffee shop for studying or even a coffee date! Love the bright natural lighting. Chloe know what she’s doing with her coffee recommendations and her customer service was a 10/10. I will definitely be back. I got the vanilla latte with caramel and oat milk.

Food took a bit but the coffee was very enjoyable. Try the SOS, it will be the most amazing breakfast you'll ever have. Clean and modern atmosphere.
