This is my teen son's favorite go-to restaurant. I'm partial because it was open three days after Hurricane Ike so I got a hot delicious meal sitting in AC! We like the family meal plan (2 or 3 dishes plus rice, soup and appetizers for a rounded figure). It's not gourmet but it's always good! Quiet neighborhood family place if you like Chinese. (They know all the menu dish numbers by heart.)
I love this place for great dine-in chinese. Lunch menu is inexpensive and portions are generous. Food and service is great.
Great Neighborhood Restaurant. Hunan Inn is consistently very good, not great or outstanding, but always very good. It's a typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, bland decor, basic tables, in a strip center...everything you'd expect from a neighborhood spot.
Among my favorites are the Moo Shu Pork, Honey Walnut Chicken, House Special Fried Rice, BBQ Pork Lo Mein, and the Sesame Chicken. All of their chicken dishes are made with breast meat, pork dishes are relatively lean, and the beef is tender. I have tried but a couple of the seafood dishes, and they were good, but not as tasty as the meat dishes. Soups are good, hot and sour is a little lean on the ingredients, the egg drop is my favorite.
Friendly family has run the place for years, serving good food at reasonable prices. We use the delivery quite often when we don’t feel like getting out, and the food always arrives hot.
The ingredients are fresh and the menu is classic American Chinese. Great service too.
Fantastic Chinese food served by gracious owners. Always a great choice when in Houston.
Delicious! I used to frequent this place years ago before I started doing reviews. They’ve still got it! The atmosphere is a little dark, but that doesn’t personally bother me. It’s a good mood setting when you want quiet time. Classical music plays overhead and it’s a nice escape from hustle and bustle of every day. The service is fantastic. My tea was never below 1/2 full. I started with the eggdrop soup which was very good. For my entree, I had the sesame chicken with fried rice. The meal comes with an eggroll. Everything was wonderful. That’s probably the best sesame chicken I’ve ever had! The eggroll is perfectly fried and crispy. I forgot why this place was a favorite of mine so many years ago. Glad I visited today. The dining area is small, with about 12-13 tables. It gets busy during the lunch rush. I went for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed this almost forgotten gem. I miss the fun placemats they used to have on the tables. “Year of the” rabbit, dog, sheep, etc. They were fun to read, but they no longer have those. The restaurant is very Chinese decorated. It’s a nice little spot. $10.80 before tip. Great value! Don’t skip this place!
Been coming here for 25 years and get the sesame chicken every. single. time. It’s insanely good and the lunch specials are mega deals incredible bang for your buck. The owner and people that work there are super friendly and welcoming. I can’t say enough good things about this place just go and get the sesame chicken. Trust me.
Came here for a pick up order, I placed it then and there. The reception was very nice and put my order quick, the food surprisingly did not take a long time to come out. The place is small but it does have lot of space to sit, it is a bit outdated. The food was okay, it was missing something of flavor.
Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Reasonable price. Excellent taste.
Visited this week since I was in the area. I read reviews first and decided to give it a try. I must say my plate, the Spicy and Tangy chicken was delicious. Hot and sour soup is really good, better than most I've tried in a while. Restaurant was clean and the staff treated me well. Enjoyed my time being there. Will definitely be back for more.
A nice little hole in the wall type place. Went there for lunch was very busy but got sat very quickly. Food was really good. Highly recommend the house specia Lomaine. And prices are reasonable.
A hidden gem. We walked in on this raining afternoon trying to get our Chinese food fix. Saw the menu online and decided to give it a go. Lunch portion was very reasonable and we got a lot of food. Chicken with rice.. soup and a spring roll for under $10.. Both of our meal was around $20 after tax.. The ladies were very nice and accommodating. Will definitely be back soon.
This is a best kept secret. The lunch specials are very well priced. You get your entree, a spring roll, and a small soup. The dinner portions are generous. I never spend more than 15 dollars on a visit and leave full. The manager is usually grumpy, but I go for food.
I would’ve never have found this place had it not been for one of my college buddies who grew up in this part of town.
The sesame chicken is quite possibly one of the best dishes in all of Houston. The chicken is so sticky, and gooey, hot, delicious. It’s just the perfect blend of flavor.
Sesame chicken and fried rice is all you need to order and this place will 1000% become your new go-to for Chinese take-out.
Very good Chinese... I had Egg drop soup for appetizer. I liked it alot.... nice and hot. General TSO's Chicken was my main course. Delicious white meat chicken with steam vegetables. 🍲
