This place is amazing, and if you haven't been, stop what you are doing and go right now. Everything is gluten-free except the bums, so for the first time in ages, my husband could try buttermilk fried chicken. The owner is super nice and friendly, the fries crispy, the curds squeaky and the gravy and toppings succulent and well-seasoned.
As good as the ratings are for this place, we had to try it out. For the most part, it wasn’t bad. Unfortunately, we were served Brenny Cakes that were seriously undercooked and had lots of raw dough in the middle (and no, it wasn’t cheese.) They did correct the mistake by giving us another freshly cooked order. The second order was darker in color (looking burnt,) but not burnt...the oil prolly needs to be changed out. They still tasted decent though (I don’t like strawberry, so I stuck with the Hennessy Cream.) The rest of the food was good. I don’t like onions, and the Don Rolls had a strong flavor of it...my sister liked them though. The Bib was delicious: the Ox tail was amazing! I picked out the chives, but it was still, in all, loaded with flavors. The workers were nice and friendly. The restrooms were clean, and the atmosphere is cozy. They also have little activities to pass the time while you wait for your order.
first time here and I like it. great service, reasonable prices and the food is tasty. they have two size and we ordered the regular size but it was so big!! they have a lot of drinks and specials for happy hour, Mon-Fri 5pm-6pm. they take a little bit to make the food but it worth the wait. definitely come back again
Went in ans was HIGHLY IMPRESSED! Even my wife who's one of the pickiest eaters ive ever met was excited at the thought if coming back. Food quality was amazing and the service was above and beyond. You actually get a good amount of meat, unlike most places that try to skimp you. Definitely recommend and will be a frequent customer in the future.
First time going, interesting little place. Food tasted great, had the Hangover burger & brenny cakes. Nice atmosphere, floors were a little sticky. Slightly disappointed in the only 1 free refill for soft drinks.
Poutine is one of my favorite foods ever. It has two things that I love - fried and cheese. Unfortunately, it's not as common to find here in the States. So when I first heard that there was a poutine restaurant opening in Houston, I was ecstatic. Unfortunately after the trip, let slightly underwhelmed.
Their menu is super comprehensive and has a little bit for everyone. They have two gravies - a meat one and a vegetarian one which definitely earns brownie points. My husband made his own poutine with vegetarian gravy and vegetables, another friend had the Tubs without cheese curds and my friend and I shared the classic and la Quebec. The gravy was flavorful but sparse. We actually asked for another cup of gravy and it made it better. Poutine really works on fries that are thick and these are definitely McDonald thin so you didn't get a good ratio of fries + gravy + cheese. Also, with the cheese curds, they just sprinkled them on top so they didn't even have a chance to melt from the gravy. The food wasn't that hot when it came out so that was also a bummer. The meats were very well done though. We also had the duc rolls which was shared amongst three of us. The general consensus was a "nope". The rolls were filled with too much carrot and that was all you could taste. Overall, I would rate the food a 3/5.
Why did I bump it up to 4 stars? The service. Hands down, they deserve an A+++. The guy taking our order was very patient and attentive, even while we were eating.
Overall, not bad but not good - quite average when it comes to poutine. Was it worth the 30+minute drive from downtown? Most definitely not.
We found this jewel tucked away in the Energy Corridor; their food and service was perfect. We came in around an hour from closing, and the staff was very friendly and personable. I swear, I could eat this poutine all day. The dishes were significantly larger than expected, so we had to take some to go. (No complaints here!) Games, beer, and a nice atmosphere with your meal? YES PLEASE.
Don’t miss it, y’all.
I anticipated visiting Tubs since their opening. Then I looked at the map and realized how far they were from my home. Told myself I would visit when I was in the area. Months later & that never happened. Finally decided to make the trip with my family. I can say I wasn’t disappointed.
We ordered The Classic Poutine top with fried shallots. The only issue this dish didn’t come out as hot as the other. It was warm at best. Son ordered The Bib. The Bib is the classic poutine topped with Oxtails & gravy. The Bib did not disappoint. Oxtails were indeed tender. The dish came out hot. I wanted to try the Doc Rolls but they were out. Maybe next time.
Staff was friendly. It was worth the drive from my part of town.

This place was hard to spot but this was worth the trip since it's the only poutine place I know of in Houston. I order this cajun style poutine that actually has recognizable chunks of lobster in it. It was amazing. 1 basket will definitely fill most people up and I was so full the employee was concerned and ask if I was alright. Its freshmade and packed with flavor the cheese curds tasted best unmelted. I'm coming back for more.
Really cool place! I had the classic poutine with vegetarian gravy. The food was delicious and very filling! The restaurant itself looked very modern and had some cool decorations. 100% recommend.
