Brisket taco was the best compared to the barbacoa and chimichurri . Btw they still have a burger available and pies from the legacy Sam's Burgers and Pies.
Pretty nut-friendly, not sure if anything is actually served with nuts but I've never had issues.
Review is for picked up order of five tacos (two corn, three flour, all the Topo Chico Battered Fish). I stopped in the day that they moved two doors down to where a burger shop used to be. Larger, more modern interior makes it feel less homey than the old counter that I could see the kitchen in.
The tacos are huge and fully loaded. I'd say the corn packs more flavor than the flour tortilla, but that's consistent with expectations. About three medium sized pieces of crispy topo chico battered catfish per taco with cole slaw. Each taco came with a container of pineapple habanero red sauce, which is quite hot but sweet and balances well with the slaw and sauce.
The only downside is that they're pricey. On the level of other fusion places like Velvet and Torchy's, but with a more local feel, slightly cheaper, and more substance in the ingredients. The price means I don't go too often, though.
Food 4.5/5
Value 4.0/5
Overall 5/5 for consistency over the years.
Tacos were expensive at first until I saw the size of them. I got the carne asada and buffalo chicken taco. Both were packed with flavor and the dipping sauces were Fuego. No frills great food spot.
I have never had a negative experience here. The food is always fresh and delicious I just think it is kind of pricey. However, quality ingredients cost and I have never had a problem with the food the Buffalo Chicken tacos are my favorite and you can never go wrong with the breakfast tacos.
This place is everything I always wished Torchy’s was. The tacos are big fairly priced and super yummy. 100% get the ranch chicken.
Good spot for tacos. Breakfast tacos come with egg and cheese and your choice of meat . They offer both flour and corn tortillas and a variety of beverages. They carry jarritos & also have a fountain soda machine. They also offer a lunch menu as well with delicious brisket tacos and chimichurri steak fajitas. 😋 Definitely a must try tacos are well priced and huge.
Was intrigued about this place and stopped by today. Had steak fajita taco, chicken fajita taco, battered shrimp taco and also chips and guac. Food was very good and each taco was big. Loved especially guac and steak, though the jalepeno that came with the steak and chicken made those tacos a bit too spicy for us. Probably will ask for jalepenos on the side next time. Service was friendly and place felt welcoming.
Mas Taco is a convenient taco spot on Dairy Ashford right next to Sam Burger under the same ownership sam<=>mas. It has unique tacos delivered to your plate with an artistic flair. If you don't like hot or spicey you need to let them know, some of these plates pack a lot of heat. Also the guy asked me if I wanted regular nachos, I said yes expecting a bowl of them and a salsa of some type on the side... what I got was a huge plate of chips with a little of everything in the kitchen piled on 2 inches thick... It was good though.
Biggest barbacoa taco ever!!!! 🌮
And it tastes great as always. Been here a few dozen times now, never fails to be delicious. Plus it's casual and friendly. Highly recommend.
#JoeFoodTour who doesn't like a taco 🌮? Definitely a great option in West Houston. #HowdyFromHouston #ThePropertyJoes #LivingLifeInHouston #77079 #MemorialWest
