Best dumplings in Houston, hands down. Cash only place, but totally worth the stop at the ATM. Try the WonTon soup, Leek Buns, Pan Fried Dumplings, and Beef Dumpling soup (if you like Five Spice).
Had the pork w/cabbage pan fried dumplings, chicken w/rice, and beef dumpling noodle soup. OMG, best dumplings I've had ever. So good I went back for seconds. Caution - Cash only but very reasonable prices.
Delicious Chinese food! Place is half self-service, with appropriate very fair prices. The pan fried dumplings and the braised beef noodle soup were probably the best I had in Chinatown so far! Also the cow stomach cold appetizer (in a box next to cashier) is really popular and tasty. Would definitely recommend to try
I had a really great time at San Dong! They had a lot of delicious-looking options for noodles and dumplings. I had the dumplings with beef soup and it was delicious! I also tried some of my family's dishes, including veggie dumplings and some other noodle dishes. They were all delicious and everyone enjoyed their food.
Service was good (order at the counter) and food came out very quickly. Plenty of parking was available as well.
Mom and Pop establishment, such friendly faces, and helpful helping us decide on dumplings on menu. They also have frozen dumplings tp take home and steamed buns to cook at home as well. Got the pan-fried with chive and pork, so yummy!
This is a quaint and nice place. Order, take your number, dine in\takeout and enjoy your food! Get your own eating utensils, drinks and to go containers as there are no waitresses or waiters. No frills dining works for me as it keeps prices reasonable. We will be back.
Beef noodle soup is really good. Rich broth tender meat and noodle. The air conditioner does not work well. It’s hot inside. sweating while eating.
No frills, order at the counter noodle shop. Delicious and generous portions. It was packed when we went for lunch but tables turned over quickly and were available by the time we ordered. Ordered three dishes which was enough for two for lunch plus another full meal for leftovers.
I LOOOVEEEE THEIR DUMPLINGS. We got the pan fried dumplings, dumplings in beef soup, and the pan fried chive buns.
Pan fried Dumplings: 10/10
Dumplings in Soup: 9/10 (the broth is very subtle too, good flavor)
Pan fried chive buns: 7/10 (the chewiness of the bread is good, the flavor is good but it lacked in some way. Maybe will get the buns with meat inside next time)
Overall, i recommend this place for their dumplings. Its just really good, affordable too!!! 👍
P.S. sorry dont have photos of the dumplings in soup, we just started chowing when it came, lol

The dishes I ordered (#1, #17) were nut allergy friendly.
This is the golden standard of fast, delicious Asian food. Counter-service order, get a number, pick up some utensils and a Styrofoam cup for water, and try to find a table during the very busy dinner rush (if you get there around 7PM).
Orders came out incredibly quickly. I think it was less than 10 minutes for our three orders of the #1 Roast Beef Noodle to come out, and another 10-15 minutes for our #17 Dumplings with Beef Soup to come out.
Everything was delicious. The soup was flavorful and not greasy at all with baby bok choy, pickled greens, green onion. The beef was amazingly tender and I got more of it here than places that cost 3x as much. I got enough noodles to leave me satisfied, and I usually order an extra order of noodles when I go out for ramen.
The soup dumplings were massive with plenty of meat inside of them. They are not perfect soup dumplings in that you may not get soup with every bite, but since it is served in a beef soup you can easily remedy that by simply using a large spoon and slurping up some soup with your dumpling. You can't beat the price of ~$9 for 12 dumplings.
For the taste and value, San Dong Noodle House is the gold standard to benchmark other places against.
Came to this restaurant for lunch and ordered Pork/Cabbage Dumplings w/ Beef Soup and Pan-fried Pork/Chive Dumplings. Both are super delicious, and they are full of meat/ingredients, definitely worth the price (it’s already pretty cheap to be honest - $9.5 for 12 ‘big’ dumplings in both cases). Definitely will order more if I have ‘room’ for it :p
Great food. Beef noodles and fried pork dumplings with chives were delicious. Staff was friendly. Purchased pork buns to take home too. And portions are huge.
