When Houston's cold outside and you need some hot chocolate and baked goods, head over to Red Dessert Dive. They have a few parking spots out front, otherwise you could find street parking nearby. The place isn't very big, but they have a few tables and even some bar seating.

We ordered some hot chocolates ($3.70 each). They have an option of adding flavors to them for no extra cost, so I went with the hazelnut. We also ordered one debusker ($3.75) which is like a half-brownie, half-cookie.

The hot chocolates were very frothy, but I wasn't a fan of the hazelnut flavor I added. Keep it simple, and stick with the original hot chocolate. The taste of the hot chocolate wasn't very strong, but it's nice for a cold night. I felt like the debusker would have been better if it was warmed up, but it was okay. Overall, this is a cool place to bring a date after dinner, especially on a cold night.

Every time Regina and I meet up, we spend hours and hours in one place and only leave when it gets dark. When we dropped by Red Dessert Dive it was no different. Red is located in the historic Houston Heights at 1045 Studewood Street surrounded by local favorites and just down the street from White Oak Boulevard.

This neat little sweet shop is fondly named after the owner Jessica Lusk’s grandmother; only Lusk’s grandfather was allowed to call her Red while others called her Stella. This little dive is very eco-friendly; they recycle every wine bottle and beer can used, use rubber stamps instead of stickers, and the shop’s own design is made of recycled products.

What first attracted me to Red was an Instagram photo of their sticky toffee pudding topped with Southern Star buried hatchet stout ice cream and paired with Saint Arnold’s Christmas Ale. If this doesn’t make your mouth water, I don’t know what is wrong with you. I happen to be a fan of both breweries and wished I had gotten my hands on a plate of this. The photos they post on their social media accounts make you want to taste every savory item, pastry, pie, and cake!

The day Regina and I decided to stop into the shop was a very magical day. We started out on their salted honey pie, their red velvet cupcake, and two cups of coffee which were from their friends over at Boomtown Coffee (located on 19th Street in the Heights). The honey pie had the consistency of a pecan pie, but the baked top of a pumpkin pie; very flavorful and the hint of salt really enhanced how the honey hit our tongues. The red velvet cupcake was moist in the middle and the cream cheese frosting was deliciously sweet.

Since we decided to stay a total of five hours (yes you read correctly), we had another round of tasting. This time we tried their orange cheesecake and two cups of their rise n’ shine tea (freshly brewed in front of us). The pairing really made the flavors of the cheesecake stand out; we both concluded it tastes astonishingly like the “Creamsicles” of our childhood. The staff was super friendly and the owner even let us take pictures of their infamous lemon berry cake; which we both regret not grabbing a slice to go.

So if you are looking for a great place to sit and drink a coffee or even enjoy some dessert with wine or beer during their happy hour, you should definitely stop by Red Dessert Dive and Coffee Shop. They are open Tuesday through Sunday; check out their website for the specific hours of each day.

This place was really good! I came with my girlfriend, we ordered a strawberry cheesecake, croissant bread pudding and hot chocolate. Everything was super great, wasn't an overload of sweetness it was just perfect! I highly recommend this place!

Highly recommend this place for party cakes! We got our daughter's baptism cake from here and it was a hit. So pretty and super tasty. I was also able to order just a few days before the event (72 hour notice required by the bakery), which was great for my last minute planning. I will absolutely order again from here for future parties!

We drive all the way from Rosenberg just for their salted caramel brownies. Well worth the trip just for them, but the peanut butter jelly bars are to die for too. Every time we come we try something new, as their rotating specials are always a great and delicious surprise. They offer cakes to go and a variety of coffee drinks too. Loyal customers right here!

Wanted to get a quick dessert from a long day of adventures so we stopped here and it did not disappoint. The cupcake I got was delicious and it tastes just like a strawberry! Delicious. The place is small but it has a good amount of seating and it is so quaint and comfortable. The service was nice, the baristas were helpful and knowledgeable. All of our drinks were delicious!

One of our new favorite spots in Houston for coffee and pastries! Vibe: Cool cafe with a modern farmhouse vibe. Lots of natural wood throughout and some vintage cabinets give this place a warm and cozy charm. Outside wall has some cool art. Good amount of space and seating inside. Service: Baristas were very kind and helpful, gave us some great recommendations. They knew their coffee too. Food: We ordered a matcha latte, drip coffee, and red velvet oreo bar. The matcha latte was creamy and earthy, just the right amount of sweetness. Tasted like quality matcha powder as we could taste the extra depth and umami. Drip coffee was good, it was a dark roast Ethiopian coffee. Notes of plum, nuts, and dark chocolate. The red velvet oreo bar was outstanding and worth the visit alone. Moist, dense, and full of white chocolate chips and bits of oreo. There's also flecks of salt throughout which really gave the dessert some punches of flavor! Cannot recommend it enough. Red Dessert Dive is definitely Let's Eat Houston approved. 😋

Good coffe and great pastries/desserts. Employees were friendly, place was clean and they have a lot of options of sweets. Coffe was good, not great but still good. When I went there was no one so I didn't have to wait for anything, it's a cool but small place. There's still some seating inside. Will be coming back

This is a very cute little coffee shop, bakery, wine, and beer bistro in the Heights. My friend and I were out exploring and found this little gem. The desserts are delicious! The coffee is great and the service was wonderful and friendly. Just a side note they are cashless, so make sure you have a card or an electronic way to pay.

Lovely selection of desserts and drinks. Lot's of different teas and coffee choices. I had a lemon cream cheese cupcake and it was so flavorful and not too big... Perfect with a coffee! Small selection of sandwiches that look great. They also make cakes to order. Unisex bathroom. Parking lot is a little tricky to get out of, but there is street parking. Note it is a cashless business.

Red's Dessert Dive made our wedding cake and desserts, delivered them, and set them up at our venue. They were absolutely amazing. The desserts tasted as good as they looked and the employees were a joy to work with both leading up to the event and the day of. Everything was determined at the cake tasting with very straight forward pricing (located on their site) outlining all of the additional charges for various additions. It was all so reasonably priced and everything the day of tasted just as it did at the tasting. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of desserts looking for not only something delicious but also a great deal and an easy process. *Quick edit to add we also ordered gluten free brownies and my gluten free guests loved them!

My kids and I love to come here. We live kind of far from Red Dessert Dive, but we come down every so often and the treats are always exceptional. I have always had a good experience here. I'm a coffee drinker, so I love their cappuccinos. Always done well and the coffee is very smooth, not bitter. Would recommend.
