Overall simple and tasty tacos. This very unassuming truck puts out some big flavors at a low price. I agree the tacos are not huge, but they are good and they are filling. The quesadillas were probably my favorite. Both the Trompo and Beef were great.
The parking lot is small for sure. You also have to eat in your car, standing or pop over to Alabama ice house. Glad I gave it a shot and would be happy to stop by again when im in the area next.
Honestly the food truck looks unfavorable but the tacos are amazing.
They are true Mexican Tacos. The seasoning is great and spot-on. They are the best tacos I have ever tried out of Mexico.
Be very careful with the salsas they are great but they are extremely spicy.🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
Unfortunately there is no place to park or sit so you will probably be ordering to go.
Savoring a taco from Tacos Tierra Caliente is like capturing the very soul of Houston in each bite—arguably, it's a nationwide culinary triumph. But the magic doesn't end there. Secure your gastronomic masterpiece and venture across the street to the Icehouse. There, pair your taco with a chilled beer. This simple yet sublime ritual captures an essence of joy that words hardly do justice. A perfect match, indeed.
For sure the best tacos are 100% are located on food trucks, not in a fancy Mexican restaurant, and for Houston, this theory applied. It was a bit confusing for me because they have a temporary Truck while the main one is getting repaired and approved by the city.
The tacos were only two dollars and the amount of meat was very generous homemade super tasty and the staff was very friendly the place is cash only so be sure to bring some change.
A big no-no of the place is they don't sell any soft drinks on the truck so you need to purchase at the store in front.
I usually am wary of food trucks. But I didn’t have the squirts next day so I was relieved. These are like the donut holes of tacos I’d say. Delicious. But bite sized. It’s $3.00 ($.50 extra) if you want onions and cilantro too. My wife took one bite and I only had half a bite left. Grrrrrr. But I guess that’s the impact of inflation these days. Eso es la vida.
Unbeatable. $2.50 street tacos - had pastor, barbacoa, chicken on corn. All were full of meat, onions, cilantro, brilliantly flavored, not salty at all. I eat spicy, the bulky red sauce will hit your mouth hard. They ought to bottle and sell that stuff. The green sauce was milder and thinner compared to red but was very flavorful. Plenty of meat for the price. Bring cash. Bring change if possible (5$,1$,etc) although I just went to store and got change with a pack of chips.
Food trucks are very well known in Houston to have delicious food, but this one takes the #1 spot in my opinion. The location is convenient to get to, even if the parking can be a challenge during certain times. I've been here a few times and had either breakfast & lunch. I've been happy with the food each time. My girlfriend loves Al pastor tacos, so we always make that one of our selections. I'm more of a breakfast taco kind of guy. Theirs seem to have a great balance of meat to egg ratio. The food isn't just the star of the show, the home-made hot sauces are delicious, too. The green is my favorite from the 2 offered & it's pretty hot. The red sauce is even spicier & has a bit of a smoky flavor, which good, but I still prefer the green over the red. No matter what sauce you decide to put on any of their tacos, it's going to be good. One thing to prepare for, they only take cash. Make sure you've got some on you & go fill your belly with some delicious tacos.
These tacos are INCREDIBLE. Unassuming, cash-only food truck. Loved the breakfast & barbacoa tacos. The torta was too big/ hard to eat. Pro tip: take it to the ice house next door to eat with a beer.
First time at this very unassuming Taco truck in upper Kirby area. Fast and friendly service, very flavorful Mexican street tacos, and great price. Definitely coming back!
Great spot for delicious and inexpensive tacos. My favorite here is the barbacoa - very tender and juicy! They also serve lengua and other great taco meats. Tacos go great with a drink from the ice house across the street. Definitely give this place a try for some legit tacos in the center of Houston.
