Blacksmith is a nice place to go to for a quick bite and coffee during the morning or afternoon. However, it closes at 5 pm, so don't think of Blacksmith as a good nighttime spot. They have a free private parking lot which is a huge plus for the Montrose area. They also have outdoor patios if it gets too stuffy inside. They serve breakfast and lunch as well.

We ordered the Latté ($4.00) and the Vietnamese Steak and Eggs ($15.00) on a Saturday afternoon. The place was packed, but we were able to find seating at the bar beside the cashier. The steak and eggs were good, but they really need to chill on the salt. The meal was served with a bun and small side salad, but I found it a bit overpriced at $15, especially since the meat was much too salty. We enjoyed the latté, it was creamy and they even did some latté art on it.

Overall, Blacksmith is a nice little coffee shop. I like that they have their own free private parking lot, outdoor patios, and that they serve good coffee. However, it closes at 5 pm, so it's not a place I'd frequently go.

My classmate and I met here to study for finals on a Friday afternoon. It was perfect! There's plenty of off-street parking, the coffee is awesome, and the food is delicious! We were there so long that I got a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit for lunch AND an affogato for dessert. Everything tasted homemade and very fresh. I highly recommend this place to grab coffee or a bite to eat with friends, family, or co-workers! Already looking forward to going back there again when I don't have to study.

Great coffee and they were kind and knowledge for my many many many questions. The location was great and the weather was perfect so I enjoyed outdoor seating. I loved my pumpernickel scramble. The beautiful thing here is you need to go back to try a few dishes so you can understand the possibilities.

Blacksmith Coffee Shop located in Houston's Montrose district is one of my favorite craft coffee shops in Houston. Why?

The quality of the coffee is incredible. David Buehner, Blacksmith's owner and co-founder of Greenway Coffee Company, believes in using quality, locally sourced ingredients. Even Blacksmith coffee beans are roasted at Greenway Coffee Company. But what makes their coffee come to life is the latte art!

Also, Chef Erin Smith designed Blacksmith's breakfast and lunch bites which are simply delicious. Try their sausage, egg and cheese biscuit with the marmalade on the side or the Kentucky Hot Brown Sandwich. Eat slowly to savour each bite!

From the exterior, Blacksmith looks a bit ordinary. However, when you walk inside, you feel the hip Montrose vibe. Blacksmith's exposed brick walls with pop art creates an inviting atmosphere to socialize with friends on the patio or connect with a date over a latte.

Cost: Latte + breakfast entrée= $18

Notes: Attentive and knowledgeable staff, popular on weekends (might have to wait in queue but it goes fast), limited seating, family friendly, great for couples and solo dining.

One of many fine, independent, artisan roaster coffee shops in Houston. One of the five local places which I patronize regularly. Excellent staff, superior coffee, great ambience.

I love Blacksmith! I come at least once every weekend to enjoy a coffee and one of their biscuits. Their iced coffees and cappuccinos always hit the mark. And the biscuits? Lets just say, you'll be craving another one a few days later.

Go for a creamy mocha or an enlivening shot of espresso at Blacksmith where there are always people working or social media-ing on their laptops. Unlike most coffee shops, Blacksmith also offers a hearty breakfast and lunch menu. The crispy-bottomed tender biscuits are without peer, and when you get the sausage, cheese and egg rendition, it’s a great start to the day. Note tha

...ordered a cappucino, a sausage egg and cheddar biscuit and a plain croissant with butter and marmalade. Carrie H had a macchiato and a croissant sandwich with bacon and egg. I really enjoyed my coffee, it was strong but not bitter and the foam was nice and creamy. All the food was amazing.

I checked out this local coffee shop for a bite of brunch. I did the dos tacos, and house iced tea. They were fabulous, filling, and I loved the atmosphere. I was feeling a bit down, and the friendly staff and warm/welcoming environment perked me right up.

I came to Blacksmith a few years ago. It was a nice little cozy spot tucked away on a corner. The front of the building seemed to be under construction. Parking was in the back. The ambiance inside had the feel of a study hall. Hipster vibes. It was quiet and not a lot of conversations in the air. The wait in line was a bit long. After ordering I sat down. The seating felt a little awkward and tables felt really close. Not an issue but an observation nonetheless. I sampled the Vietnamese Steak and Eggs, Smoked Salmon Dill Scramble, Biscuit with cream fraiche and jam and Silver Platter Chilaquiles. Of the four, I preferred the Smoked Salmon Dill Scramble. The salmon had a great smokey flavor and the eggs were fluffy. It was a good combination. The biscuit was delicious! The Vietnamese steak and eggs were not bad but if you've had bò né at a Vietnamese restaurant in Houston, then you know this is not the same. Very good but not great. Still not a bad dish. The chilaquiles did leave something to be desired. They tasted good but just not what I'd expect from chilaquiles in an authentic Mexican restaurant. It was probably my least favorite of everything I ate there. Everything tasted good for a neighborhood cafe. The coffee was really good. Nice and strong! I enjoyed it. If you're looking for a quiet place to chill or just relax while drinking coffee, this is a great place to do it.

The food was okay. The more complex things on the menu were not done well. I would just stick to the pastries and breakfast sandwiches. It is a coffee shop though and the coffee was wonderful 😊. Love the look of the place and will definitely be a repeat customer.

I personally though this place had one of the best iced lattes I've tastes. Unfortunately didn't get to try food besides some pastries but they were delicious. Parking is at the back and gets full quite easily since it's not huge. Had both indoor and outdoor seating. Didn't like the Togo iced coffee cup though . But that's nothing major

I come here at least once a week! Coffee is great, the baristas are very knowledgeable and kind. You can’t go wrong with the breakfast tacos and the blacksmith plate. Highly recommended, shaded patio is awesome.

It was great! I’m giving it a 4/5 only because it is a small space and the only available seating during rush was outside which was supppperrr cold and kinda took from the experience- was really hoping for some sort of heater outside, cause my coffee got cold fast 😭 Everything else was perfect, service is always great and the shop itself is always clean. Drinks and food come out fast too~

So I definitely thought they were closed the past few years because the old parking lot has been dug up, the building has been graffitied, and the shades they put up made it look shuttered, but there's actually a new parking lot behind it! There was plenty of parking when we went on the weekend in the afternoon. Biscuits are still great, coffee is still great, and seasonal selections are fun and interesting. Menu was moved to kind of a weird spot (there may be people sitting directly in front of the menu wall so it feels like you're staring at them) but staff were helpful in navigating and clarifying the menu items for us folks with dietary restrictions.

My first time here. Sitting here while writing the review and sipping some amazing coffee. Customer service is great. There was a minor miscommunication in my order, but the people there were so sweet and generous about handling the situation. Thank you! So excited to come to this place. Highly recommend

Cool ambiance, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It is located right by an busy road, so headphones would’ve made for a better time sitting outside. The cortado I tried was interesting! The espresso almost had a savory flavor to it. I decided to try the blacksmith plate upon staff recommendation, but unfortunately it was underwhelming. It needed a salsa or more seasoning all around.
