Birthday Dinner
Small place in Rice Village. Due to size of the place tables are quite close to each other like in NYC. Noisy, active place. Food and overall service was excellent. Plan to go back.
Amazing Place
We went to this restaurant with our Greek friend. The food was amazing the appetizers were even better. We will be back for sure. Yummy not too spicy not too greecy or salty. Perfect
Excellent little restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere and great staff. Food was fabulous and will return for sure to try more items on the menu.
Everything about this restaurant was fabulous. It boasts a well educated staff and a friendly well traveled owner. We arrived at about 4 pm when most restaurants in that area or closed. We were greeted with open arms. The menu is interesting and not overwhelming. We got to witness the waiters and waitresses preparing for the evening rush by the chefs by being educated by the chefs on each individual dish. It was fascinating. Our waitress was able to recommend items and the owner Evan talk to us about wine and then brought us a taste. It was just a very spontaneous wonderful late afternoon meal.
I hate that I had to skip over the wine menu, but alas I was still on the clock! For the food, our waiter told us everything is made to order and brought out immediately. Apparently, they do not even have heat lamps, so your food really does not sit around back there for long. I ordered an appetizer because I could not resist green-n-cheese pie, i.e. spanakoptia. It is stuffed with fresh spinach THE best feta cheese ever. The chef toasted it to perfection. It was SO good. Hands down the best spanakoptia I have ever had.
With so many restaurants opening in Houston lately, sorry correction...with so many "good" restaurants opening in Houston lately, it's hard to keep up and stay current. How does one decide or even distinguish which good ones to try or recommend? For us we stick with a simple formula, it must be a complete experience that starts upon entering an establishment and continues until we leave. That seems to separate good from the "DAMN that's good" spots! One new spot that fits the bill for us is Helen Greek Food & Wine. This cozy and quaint spot is serving up a seasonally rotating menu of modern Greek fare, or as we say in Urban Swank speak "they put their stank on classic Greek food"! Additionally, if you are into wine they are pairing the menu offerings with a complete Hellenic wine list.
This two-week old restaurant is knocking it out of the park with high quality, perfectly seasoned and cooked food. I have thoroughly enjoyed every dish I have eaten at this restaurant, but they do some special magic with the fish and the refreshing Greek salad always hits the spot. I would be remiss not to mention the outstanding Greek wine program or not tell you, you shouldn't skip dessert.
This place is to die for. My husband and I were looking for a spot in the area that was unique and boy did we find it. The staff was incredibly welcoming and polite, they made us feel very welcomed - the food and drinks were on another level. Huge wine selection and the sangria was delightful. The feta spread and market fish were incredibly thought through dishes and I haven’t had something so delicious in a very, very long time. If we weren’t from out of town, we certainly would be here regularly.
We had an awesome time at the bar for happy hour, our beautiful bartender/ waitress was very attentive and friendly! Food and wine are great! We'll definitely be back!

Good spot for Greek food. The baked feta dip was great and the brancino was amazing. Great flavors and ambience but parking is definitely a pain in the rear and if you can find a spot you have to pay.
First time eating here and it was quite a surprise as the atmosphere was very nice but since the weather was beautiful, we sat outside and the food was delicious. We ordered a single gyro platter and chicken soulvanki over vegetables and everything was well seasoned and packed with fresh natural flavors and the desserts were also very good. Service was a little slow bc there was only one person but overall, still a place we enjoyed.
This is definitely a hidden gem in Rice Village. From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave this place has a super chill vibe. The service is just right for this little Greek restaurant. The food is outstanding. I personally had the daily fish selection and it was very good. The fish was very flavorful, fresh, and very well spiced. The consistency of the fish was perfect flaky and fluffy. The housemaid dips are phenomenal. There chickpea dip was very fresh and tasty. Their pita bread seemed to be very warm and tasted like it had just come out of the oven. Their wine selection is not too large but very good. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a nice, homemade Greek food, relaxed vibe place.
Tried for the first time today. Great service from Camila - friendly and attentive. Offered to get my dad a kalamata olive dish that's only on the dinner menu even though we were there for lunch. I'm guessing this restaurant focuses on the Greek equivalent of tapas, so we shared three items: The three dips (with pita triangles) were amazing. Some of the best hummus I've had and the pepper dip was delicious, too. The pita was excellent. My parents figured it must have been fresh baked. The spinach and cheese pie was also outstanding. The menu says it's similar to spanakopita but better. Absolutely true. The third dish was a type of chicken with feta. While the potatoes in that dish were great, the chicken was a little gristly. Wouldn't order that dish again, but the first two were SO good that we'll go again.

Lunch at Helen was wonderful! Trio of dips (my favorite was the chickpea hummus, his was the red pepper hummus with feta), grilled octopus (Ohmigoodness… YUM!!) and catch of the day (snapper with delicious roasted veggies… All items were cooked beautifully, service was prompt and friendly.
We can’t wait to come back. Great little spot in Rice Village!!
Cozy restaurant with authentic Greek food.
If you can, ask for whole hot pita instead of precut pita. Hot pita with dip is much much better.
Definitely not Texan portion but we are very happy about the food we got. We were not overfed and walked out restaurant with some space to have some dessert.
Love this little, cozy spot! It's perfect for a light, casual lunch, and a lovely ambiance at night for an intimate dinner for two, or a lively yet low-key spot with friends. Great 🥂selection. Their fries were a bit salty for my taste, but their Trio of Dips (spicy red pepper, warm chickpea, and refreshing tzatziki) is YUM👌🏼! I can, and have ordered *just* that. It's delicious and you should try it 😋. Their desserts are also light and not overbearingly sweet. Call ahead for dinner reservations as it fills up quickly.

They did nothing wrong (5 star review) but I personally didn't enjoy it. As you can see by the photos I tried everything. I really wanted to like it all but I didn't. Each dish was slightly off. Maybe that was the point and everyone else gets it while my wife and I are missing the punchline. The environment is great... The wait staff were amazing and tentative. The best items on the menu were the dessert items. I think the Greek donuts could be fixed with a small ramekin of honey and maybe if they added mint. We ate everything but did it more because it was beautiful dishes that clearly had love in them (very complex) but, I won't be returning :(.
