Nice lunch in attractive setting
Flavorful cubano sandwich was well balanced, enough meat for average eaters. Salad also good. Lots of interesting options for a larger meals. I liked the interior, lots of light and well decorated. Service excellent
Have been coming here for
Have been coming here for so many years. It’s always good and the staff is pleasant. When I crave good Cuban food this is where I go. Strongly recommended.
Never disappointing
This is authentic, tasty and reasonably priced Cuban cuisine. I usually order the Pollo a la Plancha, which is a grilled chicken breast with sauteed onions. Most of the entrees are served with excellent black beans and rice as well as sweet (ripe) plantains. I love this food!!! They also make an outstanding sangria!!
Good Cuban Food. Recommended by friends of ours who are from Cuba, said it was authentic and good. They can vouch for the authenticity, but I will vouch for the taste.... very very good!
Honestly some of the best food I have had in a long while. Not sure if this is what Cubans define as "soul food" but it should be!!! I had the La Rumba sampler platter and it was divine.
Drink with a beer and finish with a Cuban coffee and you will not go wrong.
Good Find. We have been living within two miles of this restaurant for over ten years now, but only found it when we started looking for a decent Cuban restaurant in Houston.
We decided to go there to celebrate a wedding anniversary with some friends.
We arrived at 6.30pm to have a choice of tables. They were very accommodating.
The service was friendly and knowledgable. We were able to "tweak" a few of the courses to get exactly what we wanted. We tried a variety of dishes. All were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed.
The atmosphere was terrific.
After the man courses, we had to try the Cuban coffees. Very good!
The prices were reasonable.
We will definitely be back.
I posted reconsider at the end of my review. I meant RECOMMEND! GREAT PLACE :)
Simply Delicious. I've been looking for a Puerto Rican restaurant in Houston and so far I've had no luck. The closet thing to PR food is Cuban food and that's how I discovered Cafe Piquet. The restaurant was decorated with Latin art and the staff was very polite and attentive.
I ordered the empanadas and they were delicious, I just wish they were filled more. As for the entree, I ordered Vaca Frita with Congri Rice and Platanos Maduros with Mojo and it was to die for. The rice was moist and had enough beans that is wasn't overwhelming and the meat was tender and flavorful. My husband ordered an entree sampler called La Rumba and every item on that plate was just delicious. Lots of flavor and garlic which is what we love in food. The beans...the beans I could have eaten by themselves. They also give you a lot of food so you will have enough to fill your tummy or take leftovers home.
I would recommend trying this place out honestly, it's a treasure.

Ate around 3pm on a weekday and there was only one waiter so service was a bit slow but the food was great. Ordered the tostones and vegetarian platter. Plenty of food to take home for a meal the next day. Plan on going back Monday with my brother.
I had lunch here on Friday and the food and service were spot on, as usual. Great Cuban fare and one of my favorite lunch spots. Highly recommended!
We tried Cuban food at this cafe and really enjoyed it. The foods were very interesting and good, especially the grill fish dish and the flan. Richard was a nice and helpful server. We had a little chit chat with Rogelio, the manager. What a friendly host. He spent time to answer all of our questions from the foods to the decoration on the walls. I recommend this place for small families or small group of friends.

I’ve been coming to this place for years and years, for special occasions, and the casual dining. It’s an understatement to say I love and appreciate this place. The food is always so damn good I don’t even have time to consider taking a picture, I just simply want to eat and enjoy the meal. that was true then and that’s true now. 11/5 stars.
My boyfriend and I drive from Lake Charles to this restaurant because it is that good! The workers are so nice! The food is incredible! We always get the beef empanadas, ham and cheese croquettes, and Palomilla. We always leave so happy!
Got the empanada trio, ham croquettes, tostones rellenos, la pechugona, red snapper filet, stuffed smoked ham and cheese filet, oxtail special of the day, arroz con leche, and flan con coco. I wasn't the biggest fan of the ham croquettes, but the beef empanadas were really good. Loved the oxtail and the sauce it was in. The little fries in the pechugona were also really good. Everything had great texture and flavor, would definitely come back
We stopped by late Saturday afternoon for a coffee and mariquitas. Unfortunately, the coffee machine was broken. I decided to sample the empanadas and my vegetarian spouse ordered the Nelly salad. Everything we ate was delicious! The beef empanada was tastier than the chicken though both had a delicious and non-greasy crust. The sauces which accompany them were outstanding. Watch out for that spicy one! Same for the mariquitas - crispy without being greasy. I ordered a side of chimichurri, and it had a wonderful herbaceous taste. You could tell all the ingredients used in it were fresh. The Nelly salad was the perfect combination of flavors - sweet, savory, and tangy - plus a filling serving. The restaurant was clean, as were the restrooms. Our server forgot one thing, but other than that she was very attentive. We hope to be back in the next few weeks for dinner.
Even though I have lived within a mile of this place for over a decade today was my first time visiting. It did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing. Our server Richard was too notch and everything was perfect. It was priced very well with my Family of five eating for about $80 including an appetizer. It will definitely become one of my regular spots.
Great food. Decent service. We hadn't been here in many years because we live so faraway. We found ourselves in the area and decided to come by. It got busy while we were there and we had a hard time getting the check towards the end. Since we had to be at the theater for an event, we were looking to bolt out of there. Not the fastest check out but we were happy with our dishes: the pollo de ajo and empanada trio. The congri and yuca were very satisfying. The restaurant was definitely starting to fill up for dinner when we left here on a Sunday afternoon.
The food was excellent. Service outstanding. If you like your food spicy ask for their hot sauce….. loved it
Covered all the bases, when it comes to Cuban cuisine. Spacious. Patio very nice. Plenty of parking.
Great place to take the the whole family.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. All the employees were happy and they were all helping each other, great teamwork. Compliments to the management for fostering a great work environment.
I had the Media Noche. This was my first time, so I did not know what to expect. It was amazing, so many distinguishable flavors (the meats, cheese, bread and toppings). The sandwich looked a bit small at first, but it filled me up! I'm a big guy and it filled me up really well, so don't underestimate the size.
I will be back to try other items.
