A Houston institution. Carne guisada and fajita are the best along with the carne with papas. Even for a big guy two flour tacos is about enough to put you to nap. Don’t forget the grape soda.

Best flour tortilla tacos on the Eastside. I've been going there for over 40 years. I usually get their bacon and egg, carne guisada, chorizo and beans, or chicharron. Their Ms. Nancy taco is also pretty good.

Porras has always been my go to when I am visiting Houston. I've been at this restaurant for 30 years. Great people, and amazing food. From tacos, and burritos, and all the way to daily fresh baked Mexican pastry. If you love authentic tex-mex. You got to stop here. Rene and his staff will welcome all that has a huge appetite. I always say, to find the best place, is always at the worse place. Wink!

Delicious carne guisada plate - guisada was perfectly prepared, refried beans were smoky and creamy and the Mexican rice was on point. Homemade tortillas were large and warms and soft. Lettuce, tomato, and avocado salad on the side was fresh accompaniment. Will come back to try the rest of the menu!
