Review Bodegas Taco Shop - Houston

The food was fresh and tasty. Be careful with the jalapeños because they are 🔥🔥. That’s how I knew everything was freshly made. The staff were helpful with placing my order but somewhat hard to understand. The esthetics was similar to a sports bar with the lighting and tvs. It’s a cozy spot with good food. It’s in the museum district so I was able to get parking right across the street from the restaurant. If you are doing a pick up order I would advise on trying to find street parking because you will pay regular price in the garage even if it’s a short time. The parking is tied to your vehicle license plate as soon as you enter the garage and is all digital through scanning a QR code or the app.

Stopped in around 8:30PM after being dragged through the art museums. I was starving and wanted a good meal... I was not disappointed. I had the fish tacos combo, and I was very pleased with the portion size for the price. The fish fillets were large and cooked nicely. I would definitely recommend, $11 for some really great fish tacos. I also tried a little of the plantains, they were really good as far as plantains go! Same with the pulled pork.

Stepping into Bodegas Taco Shop felt like entering a culinary haven. The inviting atmosphere and warm smiles from the staff set the stage for a wonderful dining experience. The star of the show, undoubtedly, were the tacos, and of course, lots of toppings and salsas. A creative twist into traditional Mexican fare, creating a fusion of familiar and new tastes. Bodegas is at the top of my list of regular spots and I will be sharing with all my friends and family! Mexican cuisine with a contemporary flair, this place is an absolute must-visit. 🌮🎉

Being my first time here, I asked what they recommended. Enchiladas! So I ordered chicken enchiladas and they were delicious and loaded with flavor. I loved the way the beans were seasoned, but they could have cooked just a bit longer. Although I didn't love the texture, the taste was good. There is seating both inside and outside. I thought the inside was quite cozy, a nice place to sit and eat, especially when it's super hot outside like today. It felt wonderful walking inside the restaurant! However, I was disappointed with the service. When a customer is alone and tells you it's their first time to visit, make them feel welcome. Show them where to order, where to pay, where to get the drinks. If they look a bit confused, don't make them have to ask, just be friendly and courteous and tell them or show them. There was no one in front of me or behind me. I was the only customer in line, however, somehow I felt like I was a burden, like they had other things to do and needed to get me through there quickly. I doubt this was intentional, but always be aware of how you treat people and how you make them feel. Something as simple as a smile and a friendly word can have such a huge impact. By the same token, making them feel unseen, unnoticed, or not worth your time also has an impact. Be the reason someone smiles today. ❤️

Easy lunch stop after a museum visit. Chicken enchiladas were satisfying. Took advantage of the to go margarita as I planned to continue walking around the area.

Stopped by this gem in the Museum District because it's in the same building as my doctor's office. The chicken tinga breakfast tacos were delicious, not to mention stuffed so full they could barely fold. A real bargain, considering I was able to get 2 tacos plus a large coffee for under ten dollars. The only negative element to the experience was that they had no wifi for customers. To get some remote work in before setting the doctor, I had to use my phone as a Hotspot. Please consider customer wifi, Bodegas! Recommended highly for good food and atmosphere, but not great for remote workers.

My go to spot for nachos. These are honestly the best nachos I’ve ever had which is why I go here quite often. The nachos are pretty cheap IMO and the portion is pretty big. I like how you are able to customize the nachos and put whatever toppings you’d like. Their chocolate cake is also a must, it is so light and delicious.

Ummmm, yes, please! Our first visit to this spot and it was really good. I got the rotisserie chicken enchiladas, and my husband got the fajita steak. We were both pleased and pleasantly surprised with the first bite of food. The salsa on my enchiladas had a nice kick to it and was tasty. Although the cup for the rice and beans seemed very small, it was actually a perfect portion. The rice and beans alone were kinda bland, but mix in a bit of the salsa from the enchiladas, and they are back on top. So I would say try this place at least once and decide for yourself. We went on a Sunday around lunch time, and it was not very busy at all.

Bodegas taco shop is so much more than a taco restaurant. It serves wonderfully moist grilled chicken, shrimp and other delicious fixings. Yes you can make your own tacos but they also provide full meals with an entrée, beans and rice and tortillas. And oh by the way, let’s not forget they have a full bar so if you happen to be in the museum District, and want an economical meal fast, give this place a try.

I’m writing this review approximately 3min after devouring 3 breakfast tacos with chicken tinga, bacon, and chorizo. My Tuesday was already going pretty good but after stopping here on a break from work absolutely nothing can bring the day down. The staff is very nice and kind, the coffee is amazing, and the breakfast tacos which you can build yourself blew my mind along with their homemade hot sauce. They’re the kind of good where you eat them and want to be a better person after and go do some random act of kindness for someone 🤣. Needless to say, I will absolutely be taking my coffee/taco breaks here whenever I find myself working in the Med Center area again.

This is a great dive by the museum district! It’s an easy place to grab great Mexican food. No matter if you sit at the bar or outdoors the space is inviting and cozy.

Fire 🔥 Shrimp Tacos 🙅🏽‍♀️ this was an unplanned visit. Had a doctors appointment and decided to stop on the way home! I ordered the shrimp tacos on flour (if you eat corn tortillas you have zero tastebuds 🤣). They were spectacular! Definitely coming back

Seriously amazing food. I had vegetable tacos and sometimes it’s really hard as a vegetarian to find good Mexican food but they had grilled potatoes, carrots, and zucchini all mixed and it was amazing. My mom had cheese enchiladas said they were some of the best she’s had and my dad had the Mexican pizza which he raved about. I was going to try a margarita but of course I forgot my ID so I’ll have to go back. Instead my mom and I tried their flavored tea which is unsweetened and delicious. All of us left with empty plates which is rare for me. The atmosphere was friendly, such a cute shop, and we are excited to return

I lived in Houston for 40+ years. As you know there are probably 5,000 taco shops. Finally, I’ve found the best one. Tucked in a block from the Museum of Natural Science. The fish tacos are superb. The refried beans are made from rich creamy black beans, perfectly seasoned. Of course dump your rice in your beans you Neanderthal too enjoy them properly. They have them simmering for hours in a 25 gallon pot. These are not your Fiesta canned beans my friend. Enjoy!

I'm always up for a taco spot. Bodegas is located across from the HCA hospital so it's a great alternative when you don't want hospital food. I highly suggest the pork and plantains. That dish was yummy and filling. The tortillas are made fresh and hot. The rice is good, but I wasn't crazy the beans. Oh, and the tea is "tea". I had this idea of it being slightly sweetened and that was a no. Overall, great spot.

I went on 2 separate occasions. My first time I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas in tomatillo sauce. They serve the enchiladas with a side of Spanish rice and pinto beans including; a side of fresh chopped lettuce and diced tomatoes. The food was good but not the best I've had. On my second visit, I decided to build my own nachos. I was very pleased with the portions and the taste of the food. I also ordered the cucumber lemonade and it was out of this world! Def recommend the build your own option and try the lemonades they have instead of the soft drinks. Service was great on both visits.

Margaritas were on point! Glad we went at Happy Hour . The food was good even though I expected a little more on the menu. Definitely, a nice place to check out.

My fave place to go. Best nachos ever . Took my bestie and she liked the food too.

This place is phenomenal. Enchiladas are really good. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service is relatively fast.

As others have said, the included tip is unacceptable. When I asked if every order added the included tip, the cashier informed me that my "type" of order did. I asked what "type" that was, and she struggled to name an amount over which it's added. Btw, I ordered my food over the phone and picked it up, so definitely no need for an included tip. Chicken flautas were very, very bland. And, their menu said fajitas for 2 was about $21.95, but I found out upon paying that it was actually $28, because the $21.95 was for "bite-sized" portions. I picked up my food and left in disbelief. This was our second visit; will never come back.
