Review Irma's Southwest - Houston

This was the best dining experience of my life. The owner greeted us all, recommended dishes, and delivered amazing food. The sea bass was the best tasting I've ever had. Thank you for the amazing service and delicious food.

First time here, was pleasantly surprised. The service was top notch. Lovely waitress who anticipated our needs, very polite and stayed nearby. Food was delicious. You have to try the spicy tamales. A little pricey for lunch.

This was our first visit to a Houston eatery this week and Irma’s Southwest restaurant exceed all our expectations. The service was wonderful! Favia is amazing. She provided us with food recommendations and has been the best server we have come across during this business trip. Favia made us feel welcomed and at home. The food is excellent and the lemonade is the best by far. We will definitely make sure we stop by again before our trip concludes. Thank you Favia!

We come here after Astros games for three things. The lemonade, queso, and tres leches cake. It’s not cheap but the value, flavor, and service is definitely worth it. TRY THE TRES LECHES CAKE!!!

Guacamole was AMAZING! Well-deserved rating as Best in Houston! My wife and I shared the burger! Hands down, the best burger I've had! We had a very pleasant conversation with Irma herself!! A very memorable evening while at a conference in Houston!

Its been awhile since ive been back to Irmas. This is a new location. A little pricey but great food. As always, the mole is great, dishes and selection has just about everything. Now, many of you may not know, but there is a burger on the menu. Nilgai Texas Antelope...i felt adventurous for something different...Hello!!!!!!! My next favorite burger next to Gordon Ramseys Burger. Not gamey, and if you are into a lean , beef tadting burger...this blew me away! My new burger! They obviously sell alot of them, theres a reason... Anywho, amazing Mexican but i have a new reason to be a fan..great job....oh...the fries!, big crispy steak cut flavored morsels that will throw you back in your chair...nice job!

Love Love Love Irma's Southwest! From the time you enter the restaurant, the staff is so welcoming and always makes sure you gave the best experience. Their food is so good, fresh and vibrant. They're located right up the street from Minute Maid Park....If you're in the Houston area... You won't go wrong stopping in to get a spiked lemonade or margarita!!

So much to say about this jewel of a restaurant. We've been eating at Irma's as a family for 20+ years and have never been disappointed. The food, the service, the ambiance. You won't be disappointed after eating here. Reservations strongly suggested, especially game nights. Quick walk to the ballpark.

The best thing about this restaurant was the staff; everyone was very friendly. I ate here last Friday night and the food was bland. I had the queso which looked and tasted like it came out of a can. I also had the barbacoa tacos which didn't offer any wow factor. They were bland and nothing to write home about. I also tried one of the cocktails that they said they were well known for - the Melon lemonade cocktail ( I can't remember the name.) It wasn't made well; all of the vodka was on the top of the drink and I tasted no lemon at all. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Serves was awesome! The salsa had an amazing taste, it’s hard to find that roasted flavor Tex-mex places. The guacamole and queso was good. Dinner menu is limited but our meals were good. Was not disappointed, we will definitely be back.

The food was amazing and the staff was incredible. I truly recommend this place to anyone who travels or lives in Houston. I wish they had one in Miami.

Amazing food. Amazing staff. Highly recommend if your looking for good Mexican/Tex-mex.

Absolutely fabulous service and even better food! We would recommend this place to anyone!!

My brother Ray and I walked in and sat at the bar after a long walk from the previous bar. The bar tender, Eddy, read the sweat on our faces and immediately served us Mexican beers and some appetizers and the rest is history. Great service, great food, and a great place near the ballpark and best of all the Rangers won. We will be back.

I usually get the enchillada plate, but decided to go for the grilled salmon. I melted in my seat from the first bite. Best salmon I have ever had. I met the owner Louis at his mother's restaurant, Irma's, in 1990. Both are excellent. I live two hours north, but when I am in Houston, I go to one of these two restaurants. Both family run, and since 1990, same great food and excellent friendly service. They truely understand taking care of their customers.

Simply some of the best food in the Tex-Mex style I have ever had. Fresh and wonderfully prepared.

Super nice outing for birthday dinner. Staff was very friendly and obliging, food very good, and we could visit without screaming at each other. Thank you Irma's for a great memorable evening with family.

Good spot for Mexican food close to Minute Maid Park. Only problem is that they do not give you a menu to order from.

Just a great time! The staff treats you like long lost friends. The food is superb. Best place to stop in before an Astros game.
RC Kimmel
By far, the best Mexican food I have ever eaten, hands down.

I traveled to Texas recently and dinner at Irma’s was supposed to be trip’s kickoff highlight. When I was in Houston a few years ago, I went to a different Irma’s location that was close to the ballpark but not “right” there. That location was fantastic. But it is now closed and a new, upscale Irma’s is across the street. I thought that was where I made reservations but it was closed. So we ended up at the ballpark location. Service was very good and the food was okay, but not fantastic. Our bill was just shy of $300 fir 4 adults and a kid. While we had a few drinks, we didn’t have a lot of them and we all did not order dessert. I would not go back to this location. Too pricey for what we had. I am really sad to write this review. I was hoping to have a second, fantastic meal. Sadly, we did not.

Best strawberry Margarita ever

Used Fresh strawberries and lots of booze . The food was great! Wild boar tamales were great. Ivan is the best waiter around. This is the first place we visit when we come to town

This place is a gem, to the degree that I almost don’t want to tell anyone its there. It’s a local institution- I had lunch with some locals who took me there, for which I will be forever grateful.
It’s in a little converted house that’s had stuff tacked on to it over the years a la an old farmhouse which gives it a really homey feel. The service was excellent- quick and friendly, very attentive. The food, TexMex, was out of this world. Fresh salsa and guacamole. I had a chicken relleno special that I would have immediately ordered again if I’d had time to consume another plate. Food was fresh well prepared and full of flavour. Quite frankly, it’s the best TexMex meal I’ve had, and it’s not close.
The price was pretty fair - $130 or so for three. I’m definitely coming back here on a future visit. Just don’t tell anyone else about it...

I've been here many times now, and I can easily say that this place has the best Guacamole in the city. The rice here is awesome, and their melon lemonade is awesome. They don't have a written menu, so you just have to listen to the wait staff call out the menu to you. Everything I've had has been awesome. I love the Sea bass. it's flavorful, beautifully textured, and fatty enough to make you feel like you're not just drinking seawater. Irma's is another iconic Houston spot, so I suggest that if you have not visited here before, then you definitely need to go!!!!

An iconic Houston space that is great for lunch or dinner, but it is expensive so be prepared to pay. Service is great. Chips are delicious. I had the salmon special at lunch and honestly one of the best pieces of fish I've had in Houston. Perfectly cooked and could not stop eating it. Will definitely be back for happy hour! Parking available on street and lot across from the restaurant.

So Disappointed. Not only did I not enjoy the mediocre food, I felt cheated out of my money. They do not have menus and do not tell you the prices of their plates, so it was like they could just charge you whatever they felt like charging you that day. If that's they're fancy practice, then the least they could do is back it up with something fantastic to eat. Sadly, that's not the case at all. I was so very disappointed, and quite frankly was kinda pissed off when i left.

Expensive, bland tasteless Mexican food! I ordered chicken and beef combo fajitas. Both tasted the same. My friends ordered bass and salmon all you could taste was the broiled fish. I wish I had never gone there. But at least I know I don't want to go there.
Chris
Great fish tacos.
Golden Adonis
Good food and neat atmosphere. Sort of a hot spot for downtowners. They use to only serve lunch, but then opened for dinners during home Astros games. No menu so quite often your surprised when you get the bill. Yes, the lemonade is great. More of a melonade.
Howard Hill
Order the lemonade. Food is fresh and all about quality. No menu here. They tell you what's in the menu and the specials.
Mari Moreno
The best lemonade ever! Love the food, made to order. Served the way you want it, how you want it. Ask for Janet!
Market Fam
Not well staffed for a sat night right before an astros game... We needed 2 highchairs and they only had one. The menu is verbal so you don't know the price of what you're ordering (my fish was $27!!!!) but the food was good.
